Low intensity magazine reload practice (Dart Zone Pro Mk. 1)
This is the kind of accent that makes other foreigners feel second-hand embarrassment, like "dude, you're not even trying".
rangers are so chill even hunter who seems to be cold actually got some pictures for artyom in the first game
A cool thing in Exodus between the languages is that they'll have Sam say the occasional word or phrase in the opposite language. When playing Sam's Story in English, he'll say the occasional phrase in Russian, like "horosho", whereas in Russian, he'll say the odd phrase in English, like "Very nice".
No stalker difficulty?
spoken like a true blooded Californian
It’s hilarious how Americans will claim that playing it in the original audio is the only way to play it. But actual Russian speakers cringe at the accents 😂
I'm an American who understands very few Russian words, and even I can hear how thick is accent is. He doesn't just sound like an American who learned Russian and has an accent, he sounds like an American trying to sound like a Russian with a thick accent.
It's funny. As an American, I never thought we really had an accent. The way we speak is so plain and almost monotone compared to languages like spanish or italian or whatever that have such music to it.
I was wondering, did they get an American who knows fluent Russian to voice Sam in the Russian dub so it'd really hammer home the fact that he was a US marine who was stationed in Russia when the bombs dropped?
funny that this is strange, when its exactly what we have done every single time for every foreign character. Just have them be english with a funny accent
It's very slight, but the cadence between the Russian language and Sam's "American accent" is definitely there.
Михаил Георг типо такой: «Я - Sam 🦅🦅🦅, ай кам фром AMERICA 🦅🦅🦅. Гуд то мит you, Artiom. 🦅🦅🦅»
bro look out there's the creature
Just so you understand in English all the characters are voiced as ridiculously and disgustingly as Sam is in Russian voiceover. It's just unbearable to listen to how in emotional scenes English-speaking actors instead of acting, give a ‘Da, Comrade’ accent.
I like how in the english dub, Sam just sounds like Dempsey from COD zombie's and Russian he's just an American speaking Russian. Great work overall.
Шикарная игра! Помню, купил её всего за 2000 в стиме, до того как её на год сняли с продажи ❤️
This reminds me of the Silent Hill 2 remake Dog ending. Since Bloober are Polish, they had James' voice actor say the lines in Polish (referencing the OG Dog ending being in Japanese). At first my dumbo Murican brain didn't catch it, then after another listen I finally caught how thick the "American" accent is.
Polish are bad
Considering he was taught by Miller, an ex Spetznaz with o experience in teaching it could have been worse.
Pretty sure this is right after Sam questioned if he could speak English, makes it doubly funny.
Ты че блять? Я тебя чуть не положил 😂 Дамир красавчик ❤ Хотя меня зовут Дамир
I dont care that laugh makes him Dempsey from zombies
wut mod did you use for setting the voicesnto russian but captions are still english
no mod, all in game settings Subtitles on Text language is English Voice language is Russian
he speak slavic american language bruvv
very very nice. 14 confirmed kills, letsgooooo
После какого задания можно это услышать, после порта с Крестом?
Spike Spiegel, Tank Dempsey, Sam, etc. We love Steve Blum
Sam was a marine, from what I can remember, so it makes sense
I didnt know what our accent sounded like till i watched this video thanks man that was a hoot!
this is so fascinating
Шикарная игра
It's like he's talking in Simlish
As much as I appreciate the effort the VA put in, you can definitely tell it’s a Russian who barely speaks English TRYING to play an American while trying to learn a little English at the same time, I mean he has an American accent down when speaking Russian but when trying to speak English he definitely sounds Russian, it would have been more immersive to have an American actor with some command of Russian or a Russian who has been in America long enough that he has a passable command of English in a American accent! Still Mikhail Groigus effort was commendable!
The voice actor is steve blum... hes american.
@@basedfrosti That's the English one, not the Russian one.
My head canon is that he lives in the metro so long, he forgot his own accent.
Wow, what map are you using?
You're pulling off moves only the best helicopter pilots can do
sounds like SIMS talking XD
Whats the ip address
Lol
they really need to cast American who fluent in Russian or a Russian who grew up in the US to voice Sam for the next game.
Nah, the casting was on point. Sam was a US marine that was working security at the US embassy in Moscow when the world ended, he's an american that got left stranded in the middle of Moscow, of course his Russian isn't great, of course he still has a heavy american accent, this is normal. My dad came from Belarus into Spain in the 90's and to this day he still has a very heavy accent and struggles with a lot of words in Spanish... Not being fluent in a language you were pretty much forced to learn by yourself in your adult years is the most normal thing in the world
No that would make no sense. He is american and learned russian as a second language whilst in the metro. He had no other option but to learn it. Being fluent with no flaws would make no sense.
@@Alex-DML he speaks English with a russian accent though in Russian dub.
@@yunaru3643 he doesn't, I've played the game in Russian several times over. Go watch any clip from a Russian play through and you'll see.
@@Alex-DML bruh the video is right here. His "motherfucker" was russian as shit.
It took a min to get use to the Russian accents in English dialogue, but as an English speaker i couldn't handle all the overlapping dialogue trying to read the subtitles and figure out who was speaking, but eventually it didn't feel so.... comical/bad, as the voiceover work just felt cartoony early on. Idk how to say it. But after i got use to it it felt more believable when Sam spoke and that most Eastern areas speak more than 1 language and all have a basic understanding of English, i made it in my head that they adapted only for Sam. Lol. Idk, fng rambling over here justifying the bad delivery of English. I'm just glad they have accents unlike the terrible American delivery in Atomic Heart. Like man... that wasn't convincing at all. Dude sounds like the Male V in CP2077.
It definitely takes a replay or two of each game to get used to it, even when you know a bit of Russian. It doesn't help that the flow of subtitles in Metro tends to be awful either. You eventually learn to read with its (and the dialog's) flow though. I think even if I forgot everything about Metro right now, I still would prefer to play with Russian VO. It feels so authentic. I definitely recommend sticking with it and not worrying too much about missing some dialog. Just makes replaying more worth it.
i actually never noticed this scene from Sam
Sam lied about being American
What?
I like what they were going for here, but something's a little off. Americans can easily and gladly tap the r, it's trilling we can't do. The tapped r just sounds like a soft d.
If you play the game in Russian, Alyosha will practice his English with Sam.
sounds like the guy who voices Sidorovich lol
it's not a good game if there's no Apocalypse Now references
that details tho....wow
I still prefer the English version mainly because of Steven Blum and I mean who doesn't want to play as Tank Dempsey in the DLC
Playing the metro series with Russian voice over is the only right way to play it.
The thumbnail look like it was metro exodus but in fallout new vegas lol
It’s funny hearing sams line about forgetting how to speak English in the English version I always forget these characters canonically speak russion
He just sounds Russian???
He is speaking Russian but its without a Russian accent, it's because he is the only character in the base game who is American, evreyone else is Russian and has a Russian accent except for this character (the accent detail is also in the English version)
