My Experience with Lexapro (Escitalopram) + Living with Generalized Anxiety Disorder
Просмотров 48 тыс.4 года назад
I've been on Lexapro (escitalopram) for 10 months now due to my anxiety disorder and wanted to share my experience with taking the drug, after having a few conversations with several friends who were exploring medication as an option. One small correction: I was bumped up to 15mg back in February, and have been at 15mg since then. No hugely noticeable difference between 10 & 15mg other than cal...

I was on it for 2-3 years and reached a point where I lost the desire to actually live and have fun. My mornings were racked with ‘doom’ feelings. Lexapro helped me with my feelings of not fitting in and insecure. Until I felt like it probably wasn’t helping anymore I took large doses. I weaned off it and now feel like I am more ‘me’ and freer from the ghosts of insecurity and fear. How it worked and then stopped working I don’t really know. I am off it and feel secure without it now. I feel I used it the right way - for a purpose. I like being off mental meds. I was crashing mid afternoon and missing out on evenings when I was taking it. Then it was good and now it’s good. What I’m saying is use it and know that you don’t have to be stuck on it if you feel like you’ve made progress. That’s all.

Hair advice if finasteride gives you side effects: Try topical finasteride / minoxidil combo spray. A few major suppliers sell this. Works better cause it doesn’t all go systematic like the pill.

Wow so much of what you’re saying in this video is what I struggle with. It’s an overwhelming feeling to be constant anxious especially when everyone around tries to give me their take on why they think I’m so anxious. This is just my brain…. I have never spoke to any doctor about it. I am finally taking a step towards better mental health. I’m so anxious thinking about going to the doctor.

Just stumbled across your video as I've been searching about medication for anxiety. Can I just say your video is brilliant. Odd how we take some comfort in knowing you're not the only one with the simular issues. Hope you're dealing with your anxiety better. To me you seem like a really nice person, someone great to be around. That fact you posted this says alot and I have no doubt you have helped so many people in doing so. Thank you again for your inspiration. 😁👍

I struggled with anxiety my whole life and when I was 17 and started balding rapidly, it really was the turning point for me and I just said fuck everyone, fuck life, fuck everything and became a full on alcoholic and drug addict for the next 4 years until now. Recently sober and my anxiety is off the charts. I can't even leave my house anymore. Day 2 on Prozac, hope it works.

Thanks for share you experience... I have been taking Escitalopram 5mg for more a year. Fluoxetine and sertralina makes me feel with low energy, but with escitalopram it's completely different.... I feel energized all day. I will talk to my psychiatrist for 10mg, another dosage. I feel a little difficult to getting sleep before some exams... Thanks from 🇧🇷...

Zoloft was not good for me either. After being bumped up to 200mg I just stopped. That was way too much which told me it wasn’t right. I don’t have insurance so I have put off trying anything else. I found the Hers app thru Instagram and went thru all the steps and my lexapro was delivered today. I’m nervous but also very excited that I might actually be able to breathe and enjoy life without that annoying grey cloud constantly stuck inside my brain. I want to sleep. Breathe. Eat. 😊 thank you for your story. It helps those of us who are really terrified by medications. But at this point, I have given myself no other choice.

I'm only 2 minutes into your video and I thank you so much because I never knew that someone was going through the same things that I do exactly the way that you described it! I immediately started breaking down crying because I thought I was all alone, thank you for posting this video and giving your raw emotions as to what you go through on a mental level! I've never felt normal and I hate that about me I just want to be a normal person I'm 30 years old and I feel so lost.... I've never taking a medication for depression and anxiety but my doctor prescribed me Lexapro and I'm about to take my first dose to see if it works for me and I pray it helps 🙏🏾

You've described my anxiety and the things I think about. Btw, you are good looking, and have nice hair! It shows that we don't know how people feel on the inside. Thanks for sharing your story. I used to be very self conscious because I was born with a cleft lip and palate, and although it's been repaired, I still have a scar, and for most of my life, I used to constantly worry what others think. It got to the point when I was going crazy. I'm on my second round of meds, and this time I will stick with it. You are a very wise, and well spoken man. Thanks!
