I want to say thank you for uploading this! I am using this for my music final and score helps me articulate the different notes and styles that I am hearing! Thank you!!
Hermosa obra e interpretación ¡¡ 🤯
Verdi, with no doubt, is the best melody composer!
Is this a studio recording?
Sibbie was a true romantic composer. He wrote that he was slave to his melodies.
thanks so much... such a beautiful piece, revealed
Thank you so much for this score!
Wow, this is rare
Beautifull
Thank you very much for this score video! Our university orchestra is rehearsing this piece at the moment; interesting to hear some early Sibelius.
Many thanks!!!
Warum nur ein Lied?
😢
Thank you so much for posting the whole score! I see snippets around but it's really rich to see the whole work at once and I echo @joa.barrera how super it was to do the red circling to give people a queue point. Liked and subscribed!
Is it just me, or is the start kind of sounded like the music for Donkey Kong Country 2's beehive stage?
Steve Reich is God. Philip Glass sucks.
tysm i was getting really annoyed trying to scroll through pages on my computer every 7 bars, now i can play along happily
Woah it got ununlisted
Canzone e voce bellissime!
One of my VERY favourite love songs, sung here with great feeling and tenderness. The words by Henry Carey show the triumph of hope and courage over adversity, but his death was tragic. Thank you.
Movement 1 is fun in changing the time signature mentally. Movement 2 has Tubular Bells vibes. Movement 3 is fun to try to imagine the 3/2s as 12/8 and the 12/8s as 3/2. Just speaking my mind here.
Totally agree! I always do that during Mvt 3
Merci !!! ❤👌🏻
Best music piece ever
Thanks for posting this. I can’t read music :(. Does anyone know if there is a TAB out there?
This unmitigated trash is enough to drive one insane in minutes!
I think you'd better stop writing that stupid comments and just not listen to minimalism music.
Was this written for Metheny? The chord changes in the section starting at 11:00 remind me more of a Metheny composition than anything I've ever heard from Reich (been listening to him since the 70s).
Playing this for chamber orchestra at jrncm
9:30 10:35
Thank you so very much man, you're fucking amazing! Do you mind sending me the PDF of the score? (If you still have it ofc).
Can't believe you took the job to add the red circles and paint the rehearsal markings in an almost imperceptible way. At first I thought it was my imagination but then I saw it. Nice!
!
01:36 probably the most divine sound that a human can create
I love these score vids. This one is a classic!
For me, "Electric Counterpoint" was interesting because it allowed some space for improvisation within a highly structured piece. The fact that Pat Metheny performed the piece just added to its interesting nature, where a musician from a different, although related, genre of music brought his interpretation, style and technical expertise. Of course, both musicians transcend genres, both are interested in experimental music, traditional music and music from all over the globe. There are stylistic similarities in their compositions that, for me reflect the US, West Coast, South American, Iberian, Afro-Caribbean-influenced music, in addition to their inherent interest in Jazz, Classical, Pop and the traditions of these music styles. A real meeting of minds here, that breaks down musical/cultural barriers, employs experimental approaches and techniques while respecting the traditions of Western musical forms and musical traditions from further afield.
Wonderful
I'm playing this for my youth orchestra
The Heart Asks Pleasure First by Michael Nyman is based on this folk tune.
I thought exactly the same!
The finale is incredibly clever and funny piece. Sly sarcasm is leaking all over from it
Que beaux morceau!
These are pure joy. ❤️
Absolutely gorgeous. Even though I'm a fan of Reich, I still need a certain headspace to enjoy Piano Phase and the like; but this piece is wonderful in such a unique way.
I'm listening to this while midsummer morning rain is pouring outside, sound of gentle breeze getting inside the house. Best musical experience ever.
Wow, I have never heard anything else than the added melody to the Bach prelude in C major... Now I wanna hear everything by Gounod
We played this when I was in high school.
I sang Maximilian in a production years ago. It was fun to follow along and see how much I remembered.
A post on Twitter led me here. What a beautiful find! Thanks for the magic.
Good stuff. The bass guitars washing in and out is so reminiscent of the bass clarinets in Music for 18 Musicians, but I suppose you're allowed to plagiarize yourself...
Miles Davies employed a similar harmonic effect in some of his music.
