Using Soft Plastics to Catch Lethargic Bass
Hey Rick, Joe here I just put out a short video I think you and your son will enjoy. You have to LOVE the wonderful world of fishing my friend!!!
Give him the minnows. He earned them. 😁
We let him have one of them. We took the other one out though, otherwise he would have choked on it.
❤ We used beaver dam analogs in river restoration projects where I used to work. They're very industrious little guys - and very stubborn. They will tell YOU where dams should go. 😁
Very important animals.
I love all that education about the beaver. Nothing short of what you would get on National Geographic.
Thanks Mike! We try to provide some extra information for our audience.
I LOVE this Rick, AWESOME vid my friend!!! The beaver, great capture and educational info. I personally haven't iced fished in decades. Hey MA state record largemouth came through the ice in 1975, 15lb. 8oz., CRAZY!!! I personally seen a 11lb. 4oz. largemouth that was also caught through the ice in Feb. 1993 at our local tackle shop, what a MONSTER, it took the MA gold state pin that year. So, what I'm saying is you never know what's LURKING under the ice. Hey, could be a record trout coming through a hole someday. Fun vid with some good action, KUDOS!!!
Thanks Joe! We don't catch too many largemouth through the ice. Every once in a while. We catch smallmouth a lot through the ice. The pickerel likes to bite through the ice also.
@@ricksimon277 Our area, lots of largies and BIG pickerel through the ice. Pickerel are extreme cold-water species for sure. Buddy of mine caught a 6lb. 2oz. pickerel last year ice fishing, what a STOVE PIPE, as we call the big ones. Perch and calicos are very abundant through the ice as well.
Yes, we plan to go for crappie soon. Caught some nice perch recently.
@@ricksimon277 Awesome, good luck out there and be SAFE!!! Looking forward to some footage.
0:09 0:09 May this new year, bring many sweet memories and peaceful times. I wish you a prosperous new year. If not for your support, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I really appreciate having you as a supportive fan of mine.❤️❤️
Nice fish there! I can't ever catch anything during the winter. Me and my friend went magnet fishing yesterday, but the lake was frozen. Got a nice popper lure though!
I know what you mean. Winter fishing is very tough. Especially around here in Massachusetts where the lake is half frozen half unfrozen. Thanks for watching the video! I appreciate it.
Also, I'm premiering @ 10 AM today a video short of a couple of VINTAGE GIANT bass I filmed with my old Sony Handycam from back in the day. check it out if you wish.
I will watch it later today.
@@ricksimon277 Cool thanks
Very nice brother, I've never caught a walleye. I really love how your travels bring you to different locations, environments and fishing applications. Quality smallies, time to invest in a GOOD scale, LOL!!! Cape Cod has INCREDIBLE smallmouth fisheries. I have a few angler friends of mine that have smallies over 6lbs. to their credit, MONSTERS for sure!!! I personally haven't smallie fished in quite some time. Beautiful with the snow falling, and no it's not DUMB. It's called the Love of Fishing!!! Especially with your son, VERY NICE!!!
Thanks Joe, walleye are a great species.
@@ricksimon277 YW brother!!!
OMG he's SO cute
Yes, but you don't want to approach them. They are not very friendly and extremely territorial.
That was cool, got to LOVE nature!!!
Wow, so many brook trouts. Nice fishes!
Thanks Mike!
Nice!
Thanks Steve!
Hey Rick, that was AWESOME!!! I'm not a trout fisherman and have ONLY caught 1(a big rainbow while bass fishing) my WHOLE life but that was cool. Brookies are beautiful and the action that day was great, and the weather seemed perfect. Catch and a HEALTHY release is so important regardless of the species (fresh or saltwater) for the future of our fisheries. Good job brother!!!
Thanks Joe! My grandfather use to take me trout fishing all the time when I was a kid in PA. We caught a lot of rainbows and browns. Brookies are new to me over the past decade or so.
@@ricksimon277 Very cool, LOVE the story about you and your grandfather. Fishing with family, PRICELESS my friend!!!
Also, I put out a video short of a bass blow-up this morning if you want to watch it, cool capture. Tomorrow morning I also have a video short of a MONSTER bass that spit the hook right at my feet, CRAZY!!!
Rufus 🐾 says brookies are delicious over a fire. (We have them backpacking if someone takes a rod.) Those are really big ones.
Well if you ever come here I will catch some for you.
Fast little dude
That’s a soft shell turtle not a snapping turtle 😅 still mean
Yes, that guy tore up the shiner pretty good LOL.
@ they can get enormous down there in Florida!
@THEROOSTER92420 Florida is a great state for wildlife.
That's a soft shell
I'm not trying to be mean or nun I'm jus saying
Thanks, I'm not from Florida, so I wasn't sure of the exact species. However, soft shells bite as I understand 😆
@@corvinhendershott1510 you're not being mean at all. I appreciate the input. I'm not from FL, there's all kinds of cool stuff down there. I appreciate the comment.
Bad enough I have to deal with big snapping turtles here in MA, wouldn't want to deal with those guys, YIKES!!!
Yes. I caught a snapping turtle down there in Florida by accident. He was a soft shell snapping turtle. I will probably post a short of hum this weekend.
@@ricksimon277 I actually put out a video called: The snapping turtle, friend or foe? if you wish to check it out. As my dad would say, "they are natures vacuum cleaners." I have caught some MONSTERS through the years on native shiners. I have tremendous respect for them!!!
Yes, they are very cool animals. I liove turtles.
Prob fishermans give him food so he thinks ahh another fisherman i wait for he gives me a fish 😂
You are exactly right. That is why he is there. We made sure not to feed him. Thank you for the informative comment. I hope that you enjoy our videos.
I think he is used to people and waiting for a chicken hand out. 😂
Yes, unfortunately people feed them. It makes them less fearful of humans.
Or maybe waiting for you to jump in 😉@@ricksimon277

👍 ! !! 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
You sound like buster posey , crazy. Nice fish.
LOL, I was a bit excited 😆. Thanks for Watching.
Awesome, got to love fall bass fishing. Typically, does spit bigger fish indeed. Next to pre-spawn/spring bass fishing, it's my second favorite time of the year to fish. Nice job guys, the chatterbait is DANGEROUS for sure!!!
Thanks for Watching!
I like you 😍
Awesome Largie, CONGRATS!!! But what is more AWESOME is seeing a father and son fishin' together, Kudos!!! Miss my dad every day, especially the times on the water. Keep making those memories fellas!!!
Thanks! Yes, that one was a big fella. This week's episode on Saturday will have a nice bass as well.
@@ricksimon277 You're welcome!!! Cool, looking forward to it.
New subscriber here, fellow MA fisherman of over 50 years and life-long Steeler fan as well. You keep it REAL and FUN, nice job with your vids. Whereabouts in MA? I'm in the Southeastern area. If you wish to check out my content, I have a lot of vintage and modern fishing pics and vids, especially of BIG largemouths. Looking forward to your future content.
@takeakidfishin, thank you for subscribing. I just subscribed to your channel. I checked out your site and you caught incredible bass not too mention some really nice bluefish! I live South of Worcester right on the RI line. I"m in Southeastern MA all of the time as my older son lives there. Thanks for watching! We have some cool videos coming out. I hope that you enjoy.
@@ricksimon277 Thank you so much, I really appreciate it, and you're welcome!!! I'm looking forward to your future vids. Very cool where you live, I'm sure you have your share of quality fisheries. I live in New Bedford and tend to fish the Bristol County areas. Lots of quality ponds out this way.
Nice bass 🤩
Yes, this fish will be on next week's episode. Hopefully we will catch some of those in Florida in a few weeks.
Truly enjoyed this episode. You guys make it look so easy. Hats off to you being out there in such cold weather.
Thanks Mike! We really appreciate the kind words.
Wow good job!
Thank you for the nice comment. I hope you enjoy the episodes.
@ I do!!
Looking forward to see more footage from the Eyoyo.
Great to see you guys are catching fish. It's not easy to have quality content when the fish don't cooperate.
Very true! It's getting to be that time of year. Thanks for Watching!
Respect
Thanks Hugo! I appreciate you watching.
Very cool!
Use your first aid!
He s a dancin fool 🤣😧
He sure was. I have bad luck with flounder, the always bite me 😆
Were the flounders not big enough to keep?
They have to be 19 inches to keep in Rhode Island. This guy was around 18.5.
Nice !!
Great video!!!Very entertaining!!
Thanks Mom!
Omg! Are you fighting with an alligator?
Yum, a sea bass
No such thing as hurricane insurance. Insurance pays some for content but never anything close to what you loose. One day at a time ❤
So many prayers. Good luck 😢❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
where was this? im from ri i fish in fort and of rocky point. been slow but still early
Rocky Point was one of the sites.
@@ricksimon277 yeah I know that’s where I fish at rocky. But the beginning of your video? Where about is that
Narragansett
@@ricksimon277 ah ok how’s it been lately have you gone out?
It's been a while. Maybe a month or so since I've been there.
Looks like a beautiful day for fishing. Love me a bit of cozy cloud cover in early autumn.
You're right, Autumn fishing is the best.
😮
Wow, glad to see he is alright. Can’t do that in Florida 🐊
Glad he's ok.
I thought the red part was the fish lmao
