I was reading Satie's book and searched for this. Totally worth it. A 20 minute setup to a punchline of the pianist not leaving the stage. Just like Satie's humour. Furnishing music. So funny! The rest was okay also. Glad I stuck around.

In France at the end of the XIXth century, we had three top level masterpieces in terms of quartets with piano: two by Gabriel Fauré, one by Ernest Chausson. Sains Saens' quartet is perhaps not equal to those three masterpieces, but it is brilliantly written, firmly architectured around clear themes and harmonies

Just one more trumpet or horn would've made it perfect And I feel really bad for the three percussionist having almost nothing to do in the second movement, but honestly there wasn't anything to be done, the second movement needs that velvety sound

This was fantastic - there aren't very many performances of this set out there, really neat to see this happen. Paper flick at 18:18 is priceless. So was the endless tango, I was laughing.

Love this symphony and this intimate, sublime version. I will buy this album.

Shostakovich down to the bones. The 15th is one of my favourite Shosti symphonies. I really like his late style. I loved the raw edge sound and special effects the violinist gave to this piece. I heard things I had never noticed in this symphony. The cello solos were amazing in the second movement..A good experience, but a little too thin in the second and fourth movements. Thank you 🙏

Good performance. This unique way of performing them really drives home the idea that the pieces can be represented in any order. Great playing from the pianist and representation of the themes of the pieces by the stage artist

Brilliant. Have recently discovered the 15th symphony after being put off initially by the first movement and William Tell, and now play it obsessively. Thoroughly enjoy this transcription, so well played by these musicians.

Amazingly, it almost works!! I feel there isn't enough sheer volume during the two great crescendos, and I miss the trumpet!
