This driver is one of my favorite tool finds in the last year or so, in combination with the ICON micro ratchet set, or a 1/4 hex adaptor/bit set, this driver handle gets a lot of work done! +10 YEAR BENCHMADE GRIPTILIAN REVIEW
Просмотров 8 тыс.Год назад
I have carried this benchmade griptilian for more than 10 years now, its been a key EDC item for me. It's tough, stays sharp a long time, and over the years has never failed me. Let me know in the comments what you think about this knife if you have owned this or maybe another benchmade model. +10 YEARS LEATHERMAN WAVE REVIEW
Просмотров 4,5 тыс.Год назад
I have been in the manufacturing industry for over 10 years now, and I have had my Wave on my hip basically the whole time. I wanted to make a review to show the pros and cons of this tool with real world uses, and show what 10 years looks like. Thanks for watching.
How to polish chrome easily.

So this is a video about polishing up chrome that has surface corrosion on it. I wanted to make this video because their are very few videos out there that show a really good before and after shot of
Good 👍 price கிடைக்குமா
Hello buddy good video did you pick up the leatherman surge in the end ?
serrated blade = seat belt cutter
Imperium is the Civivi front flipper.
ive carried a grip 551 for as long as i can remember, if you want to level up your 551 get an ebay chinese aluminum wave attachment will make the 551 the fastest opening knife in the world.
Electricians beware, don't accidentally use on live circuits
Ive been considering a bugout for quite a while but im leaning more towards a grip now...its maybe tougher and a bit cheaper. Useful vid, thx.
Nice job! Good video!
Yo never had the omega springs break in ten years?
Nothing broken for me
Good video ! Just bought one today online from bass pro on sale . I heard there discontinuing the griptiian . Went in the store to buy, they had none in stock and old timer had one in his pocket let me check it out . Said he’s had his 20 years or so . Sold me on it .
How is the side to side play in the plier pivot after 10 years?
Not terrible, not something that concerned me while using it.
I have several Vessel drivers and I like the handle design. They would be perfect if they weren't set up for Japanese standard bits. With one of my handles if you use a typical bit you'd buy in the us- Wera, Wiha, Dewalt, Milwaukee....etc.... the bit will get stuck in the driver and require pliers to pull it out. If you actually invest in the Vessel bits then you wont have that problem, but otherwise you sort of have to consider it to be a proprietary bit system unless you are already invested in Japanese bits.
I bought the Broppe 6in slotted bits for my kit works great with my vessel 220 handle Love these bits . I tried to find long 6in jis bits thin made by this company but no luck.
Send in to leatherman for servicing, and they will send it back fully rebuilt. It's great. Just pay for shipping to them, and then they turn it around to you
Yeah that missing screw on the side actually holds the liner in place underneath the plastic scales. A fairly large portion of Benchmade knives use a partial liner system underneath the scales. The steel liner adds strength to the knife in the places where added strength is really needed. The partial liner does a good job maximizing strength vs weight. Some knives will utilize a full liner and it's been my experience that it's often unnecessary. Benchmade does a good job adding strength where it's really needed and leaving out added strength where it's not needed, saving weight and unnecessary materials. I've been carrying a Griptillian for five years and it's the best do it all edc knife I have ever had.
Best knife I ever owned. Own Bulletproof .
Cool. Koken makes a spinner handle with a 1/4" inch square drive with wobble. If you put a 1/4" square to 1/4" hex adapter on it you can run bits and have the wobble feature which is nice.
I love my Griptilian. I hate the standard plastic handle BM puts on them so I had mine custom made with better material (which I can't remember what it is now), but the blade is S30V. I'm disabled (left arm is paralyzed) and use mine for things that usually require two hands like opening stuff like food and packages. It is, hands down, the best knife I've ever owned. Stays sharp too.
Wow ! 10 years of carry and it barely looks used. What an advertisement for BM.
check out the VESSEL IMPACT BALL Torsion 30 bit set.
How do you sharpen the leatherman wave? Or what kind of sharpening system?
By hand, double sided bench stone, finish on a leather strop.
The Griptillian has been somewhat superseded by the Bugout in popularity -- only one model is still available. I just bought a used (and abused) Griptillian with the blade hole opening and partial serration. It was in a pile of junk knives, so it only cost $1. The tip was broken, the blade is loose side-to-side, the pocket clip is loose, the screw heads are stripped. You should look at the Hogue Doug Ritter RSK Mk1-G2. It is a variant of the Griptillian that was previous produced by Benchmade, but they no longer wanted to produce it. Cold Steel produces some great hard use knives, such as Ultimate Hunter, American Lawman, and Recon 1.
Very cool ! It’s a great knife for sure.
Nice load out ... thinking about keeping the griptilian instead of my bugout for everyday and your 10 years review made some good points. Thx for the content.
Excellent choice for a first knife! I've been carrying griptilians for about 20 years, and still have my first one and use it. I'd suggest sending yours back to benchmade, I just sent one of my mini grips back. It will feel and look like a brand new knife again. Your one screw missing is a important screw, it holds the steel liner in place. Or at least contact benchmade and see if they will send you the screw. I carry my mini grips most, much thinner than the full size and less weight, may want to check one out next time you need a knife.
I have over 100 knives, but if I had to keep just one, it would definitely be Benchmade Griptillian.
Wish I had this before retirement.
The Surge is great but it's very heavy. The Wave seems like a good weight compromise.
I can agree with that, the wave is already pretty heavy, going heavier with the surge would probably make me leave it off my belt.
Alliance scum! ,. But also nice thorough video dude!
Horde scoundrel! Dwarven player for life! Glad you enjoyed the video!
@@justfreythings3109 Idk if your into ratcheting, But there is another Brand called Anex and it has really good tolerances for a ratcheting driver and it has a slightly shorter profile maybe about 1/4' shorter in length.I doesn't pop out like the Vessel ratcheting versions. Only negative ive really seen so far is that it seems like the bit insert is plastic so maybe if you really need to torque something im not sure how it would hold up.
Been a fan of Vessel products for years, I have had the Flat Plate Ratchet for a handful of years and love it. Great to see other fantastic options from them, probably going to order the Tang Thru handle here soon. Thanks for showcasing these handles.
Thanks, a lot of great ideas. That SATA set is nice and compact. DeWalt has similar compact bit setups that I use and like for their compactness (DWAX200 and DWAX100).
"PromoSM" 🤷
Very nice - thanks for the video! : )
Awesome pocket Dump and great video!! Can't wait to see many more.
Thanks for making this video, this is an underrated setup, and it makes a lot of sense in terms of value, compactness, and blade clearance before we even get into the handle design. Much better than e.g. Wiha. Just ordered the 220W to get my feet wet. I'll keep an eye out for shanks that might fit just right.
I think the philips are actually jis heads, meant for anything built in japan or the far east, thats why the big one looks strange. Not sure if Husky do these., but of course theres no japanese stuff in the USA. Klein are great tools but the rest of the world has managed very well without them thank you.
Get a Husky from Home Depot. Does the job. Tools are suppose to work for you, you’re not suppose to work for them. Grown ass man with fancy expensive tools reminds me of high maintenance women with Prada bags. I’ve been in the trade for decades and Klein screwdrivers are top notch.
the 3 bit set he showed is between $12 and $20 on amazon. also shut up dude, let people enjoy things.

Joe you sound like a whiny old man. Quality tools like these are a joy to work with and do exactly that, work for you. Sounds like you need to talk other people down to not feel bad.
lol go to bed old man
Alright joe, lets get you back to bed 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Tldr
Serrated blades great for cutting vines in the garden. Also rope ties for stakes for plants like tomatoes. It is my least used tool on face, much rather have larger scissors like wingman.
Where I am from, men always kept a little notepad.
dummy the screw is important
Relax dude !
I carry a mini griptilian for work and it’s absolutely perfect for that role. It takes a beating and just keeps on going along. I have many other knives but I keep gravitating back to the mini grip for work
Is the mini grip hard to sharpen? I have the s30v and cannot get it sharp. Is the edge too thick to get sharp? Is it worth 50$ in good condition?
what's wrong with your hair style? i think that someone messed it up...other than that good reveiw...stay safe
What's wrong with your brain activity? i think someone hit you in your head...other than that completely irrelevant comment...stay safe
@@disco4535 Nice projection Disco.
@@folksurvival You lack the intellect required to even comprehend a simple word like "projection". Praying for you, but we all know life is hard for people like you.
Good to see somebody actually using their knives long term giving a review instead of rattling off specs while it sits on a table brand new. For a guy who isn't a "Collector" and doesn't have a dozen knives to run through if one breaks, long term durability is essential.
100% agree, it took me probably 6-7 years to actually buy that Rat model 2 in the video because I could never justify spending $$ on another knife when the Benchmade was holding up so well, I eventually caved obviously, but my Benchmade is definitely still the EDC of choice 70-80% of the time. Glad you liked the video!
@@justfreythings3109 I feel the same way about my 4 year old CS Recon 1. It's just so damn reliable it's hard to justify buy anything else. If it ever breaks I'll probably just buy another one, It's just that good.
Im in a similar boat. Im not rich enough to be a mindless consumer and have 10 150$ knives. I ordered a griptillian after much research. I use my knife ALOT, hunting and fishing and processing meat. I use a cheap Gerber, but wanted something i didnt have to sharpen after something as skinning a grouse. Hopefully the Griptillian and S30V steel lives up to the hype.
Have you tried using the serrated blade to cut zip ties ?
Most of the time I'm dealing with zip ties they're for cable management on expensive components, so I generally don't want to get a knife too close to them anyway I prefer flush cutters or scissors.
I would use the saw for PVC occasionally
Funny, you jogged my memory of using it for that once as well!
The other thing I realized my wave is just a wave. It's not the wave plus with all the extra gadgets
I also have a wave. I believe it's about 10 years old. Probably not used quite as hard as yours but I have to say overall it's been very durable. The little spring on the scissors it's gone a little bit wonky but I think I can bend it. Just give it a little more tension.
