I completely agree. This game is far too long for its own good. Long patches of boring padding with pointless acitivities. The final 30 hours were just grinding for exp. and banging my head against the wall for the VR missions. In the video you said you still need to complete the game so the hardest part is yet to come. Having a mode where you have to fight 9 bosses in a row and then get 2 shot by Bahamut or Sephiroth on the 10th fight is bullshit. I spent 200 hours to get the Platinum, and it burnt me out for the first time since 2018 when I first started hunting trophies. I had take a break.

Haven’t played Rebirth, as I didn’t really enjoy Remake. But, I know the feeling of a game ceasing to be fun and becoming more like a chore. It’s usually at that point I put the game on the shelf for a bit and look for something else to play. Sometimes it can just be timing and I will come back later to it and enjoy the game differently than I did before.

Loved the game but the glaring issues for me were: - Too many repetitive open world areas as mentioned in the video (they could definitely have removed a few because I enjoyed it at first before it became repetitive) - Too many arena fights when you combine the VR missions and the battle arena. They could have been much leaner here and gone for quality over quantity. Some bosses you just have to fight over and over and over again. - I had a few issues with the story but they were overshadowed by the amazing characters The plat took me around 250 hours. The highs were really high but way too grindy. Now I need a big detox from Ubi Soft style games until part 3 comes out. Regarding the 2nd playthrough on Hard-mode. You can sort of just B-line that one in less than 10 hours, so in that way it is different from Remake. In Remake the 2nd playthrough was the issue; in Rebirth it's the open world and mini games.

Agree with your gripes about the open world elements of this game. I found some of the traversal quite awkward too, particularly in Cosmo Canyon where the mountains were so high up it was hard to see what was on top of them or where you should go. The mini games were pretty good though, I especially liked Queen's Blood and Red XIII's football game. Definitely preferred the more linear segments except for Cait Sith's solo level with the box throwing lol

I had to play through it once and do the side quest stuff then set it down. I'll come back for the battle trials and hard mode playthrough in 10 years :P

I suffer from Gongaga trauma, beautiful place and exciting "for story reasons" but god navigating that place was something horrible when trying to complete that Ubisoft'esque checklist. What's that? You see the research tower? Great, just gotta find that one mushroom that will get you there. Map does not help much in that area.

Those completion percentages are awesome 😮‍💨 I’ve recently started Jedi survivor myself and I can’t believe how incredible the game looks during gameplay! I recently played through “high on life” and got its platinum really enjoyed its wacky humour, gave me destroy all human moments of unexpected laughs. On 28 platinums this year so far keeping up the work should hit 50 this year I hope 💪🏻

A wild Platchums video appeared. It uses entertainment. It is very effective. At first, I was shocked, but then Dan revealed his 12 Platinums and my world returned to normal. As long as we all enjoy the games we play, everything is fine. I slowed down as well, because I only Platinum games, I want to Platinum. I am at 196 Plats (16 this year). Will I be able to reach 200 in 2024? There is a chance, but i don’t want to force it.

Psnprofiles aren’t as good as they use to be imo, the website really took a nosedive with the leaderboards. There’s loads and I mean loads of hacked accounts still getting a world and country ranking on it with platinums in seconds on games that doesn’t even have auto plats yet other accounts get took off the leaderboards for the stupidest of reasons. They banned me for completing the original MW2 spec ops ‘too fast’ like what even is that bullshit

Been trying to replace my 360 collection onto the PS3 because I want them in my plat collection, and some of the games I never expected to be expensive already are. Silent Hill: Downpour is the most expensive I'm looking at right now at over $100. Fallout New Vegas Ultimate Edition is also expensive and all I need is the DLC for the 100%. I'm trying to decide whether spending $40 for dlc is worth it now before it skyrockets to who knows how much. Hoping to run across them in the wild for much cheaper, though.

Platinum/trophy rarity is a pretty funny subject to me. Cause, like, yeah...the rarities almost never quite feel like they match the effort you put into them. Either they are rarer or more common than you'd expect, sometimes exceedingly so, but rarely ever quite right. Not too long ago, I played two games in the same series: "Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising" which is a fighting game. "Granblue Fantasy Relink" which is an action RPG. The former sits at 10.11% while the latter sits at 16.36%, going by NA PSNP statistics. And personally, I was shocked that the latter is decently more common despite taking me notably more time and effort. Like, way more time (50-ish hours vs 80-100 hours) and effort (playing online matches casually vs dedicated online grinding sessions tackling pretty tough missions, one especially requiring repeating multiple dozens of times due to RNG). Heck, the former even has a Deluxe Edition that comes with enough stuff that most of the grind is inadvertently done for you...yet that's the one that's rarer. The only justification I can even try to guess on is that fighting games are just an inherently less popular genre. But yeah, between something that like and a plethora of others reasons, it's easy to not really care about trophy rarity too much. Sure, it's nice to get something on the rarer side but it's just not something worth obsessing over. It's just too volatile at times. I mean, heck, another perfect example is "FF7 Rebirth". 150-200+ hours, 7-8/10 difficulty...it's a 12.10% platinum.

The reduced rarity thing is solely the result of PSNP changing the way they update profiles on the site. It's something along the lines of: anyone who hasn't manually updated their profile in the last year no longer gets automatically updated. This means that many more casual accounts are now excluded from the calculations. Seems logical, but it has completely distorted the rarities when you compare newer releases with older games. You'll notice that all games released after 2021 or thereabouts have far fewer "game owners" listed; like it makes no sense that FFVII Rebirth should have only 50k owners, or MW3 only 20k (!) owners - compared to a million plus for previous titles. Overall it's caused rarity to be hugely reduced in newer releases - like there's no way a mainstream 60+ hour game like GoW Ragnarok should have a platinum rarity of 40% or 200+ hour FFVII Rebirth over 12%. So unless the site admin changes it back (which he won't because he's essentially an absentee owner at this point), we're going to have this completely unequal split of games released before and after 2021.

You can absolutely get all 3 Legendary Edition Mass Effect plats without the 4th, non-plat list. Delete the game files, not save files, every hour or so. Also cant romance anyone.

These repeated playthroughs requiring specific things is the main reason why I quit doing achievements on Steam. I finally realized I was ruining my own experiences for something no one I know personally cares about and won't remember me for.

At the moment it's only very specific PS3 games that have high prices. Vast majority are so cheap.

My Cultured boy has 2 copies of Daxter. I agree with just collecting the games you care about. No point in having games sitting on shelf that you never have any interest in playing. Also, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one to sensually touch my games at those tough moments in life.

Would love to see the physical library collection videos! Thankfully PS3 is still pretty affordable compared to some of the other older systems, so plenty of potential to pick up interesting games

The way you were touching those Vita games was... interesting 🤣 I haven't been buying as many games recently because I spent too much on buying Yakuza Dead Souls as part of a plan to play the full Yakuza series. It's definitely a case of being more selective with what games I am going to pick up in the future, especially as I have enough to keep me busy for a long time. 😀 Thanks for answering my question, and I'd love to see both of your collections at some point, it might help me add one or two games I don't have to my collection. 🙂

As all I have is a PS3 I could see the jump in prices for the games during the psn store shutdown. Games like puppeteer would be $5 USD now over $60 USD

Hey good to see you lads back again 😊 I still pick up PS3 when I spot any I don't have. I got Street Fighter x Tekken and House of the Dead over Kill for about £1 I think it's always worth picking up some PS3 games even if you're not sure if it's mega cheap and you haven't played it, might as well have a little go. I would be interested in seeing what games you think are really good that you have physically.

Finally, another Platchums video! I've gone back and replaced some PS3 games that I had sold previously. May visit some pre-owned shops near me and look at getting some more but honestly I can't be bothered paying a king's ransom for any games. The last batch of games I bought, I believe I paid maybe $55 for 5 games, which is acceptable to me.

My concern is Sony eventually removing the ability to download patches/dlc. I'm sure there are groups out there taking stock and populating a library of these patches/dlcs but the methods of then downloading and applying those patches could be lost on the average gamer. And thanks for the reminder, I should boot up my PS3 and make sure it still works.

I just don't understand doing something that isn't fun i gave up after 26 platinums my favourites were Bloodborne res 6 tho after a few years of trophy hunting i stopped they dont actually add anything except grinding.

Have to say i did surge 1 and 2 plats. I think that surge 2 is definitely worth it. The areas are way better. Some better bosses but dont expect much. But the builds and weapons get so so good in surge 2
