Bro, this is insane.
Looks sick
I tried this but my strap keeps twisting up, what do I do?
When I did them I always rotated left twice then reversed to right twice to unwrap. Or 3 left 3 right as long as you even out. Try that and see if it helps you out.
Glad to see there's cymbal players out there who wanna play cymbals lol

haven't played marching cymbals in 3 years but this is pretty cool

I think these videos are great and very helpful. I've been using these videos to learn cymbal technique to instruct my high school drum line and my college drum line.
Samantha Lash thanks so much Samantha! I truly appreciate that.
Just what se need thanks!
This way old
Tomatoe BootyHOLE easily 10 years old. I retired from teaching.
Cymbal lessons by Andy of Mayberry
Informative, clear, and quick. Overal a great vid!
Thank you
Hello, I'm Brazilian What would be the basic theoretical methods to start with cymbals?
Edson Patrick Drums Hey Edson I would recommend going back to my earlier videos. They hit all of the basics needed. . ruclips.net/channel/UCWMDR5lC9txBcU2BKMkzmuw
It wasn't until this moment that I knew I want to see a cymbal ensemble
Thanks Eli! We all put a ton of time into our ensembles. Hope you enjoy.

it would be great to be taught how to write a slide in a score
Your accent is stronger than my bench press
Bobby, that's too funny
My high school's cymbal line uses the concert grip.
Disgusting. But I mean, if it works it works lol.
that's gotta be painful
Good
I love this channel so much, when do you plan on posting next
Hey Captain Kiwi! Thanks so much! I'm slowly working on updating some of the older videos. Some of the chapters after this one remain relevant but some of the techniques are outdated.
What are good cymbal straps that are durable and suitable for marching?
Hey Hunter! You really can't go wrong with the Seavine gloves and straps. It's a one stop shop for all your cymbal needs.
This is an amazing Channel! Thank you SO MUCH for making this resource available to all of us cymbal noobs!
Thanks Benjamin!
Thanks Benjamin! I truly appreciate the kind comments!
I don’t know how to read music to actually play cymbals can someone give me some tips
Hey Rich, I got some info headed your way!
I am a Section leader for cymbals at my high school, and I have never found anything more helpful than this. After watching this, my all-time favorite crash is the Gillatine. It looks so cool visually and goes well with the first movement of the show we're doing this year, "Paisajes De España" by Gary P. Gilroy. Subscribed for life!
Awww that’s awesome! I truly appreciate that. If you have any questions please feel free to hit me up.
Will do!
Do you guys have tips for me to read music I’m a beginner in band and cymbals any tips to play cymbals and read music anything helps ty
Rich Summer email me at eddiecapps47@gmail.com and I will send you some information regarding that.
@@xxxtentacionisgay5577 check out chapters 12, 14, 23 and 32. Those show some of the exercises we use and you can see the notation along with it.
hey eddie, is there any particular way to clean cymbals and is there a method to breaking straps in?
Hey Sqwaush! I've seen hundreds of cleaning ideas over the years. I'm by no means the expert on cymbal cleaning but what we use is BarKeepers friend. Use a moist cloth to apply it and then polish it off with a dry cloth. When you are finished we usually put a light coat of ArmorAll spray protectant on it. Then we use Windex wipes after every use to keep the oil and sweat from sitting on it overnight. That usually works pretty well for us. For breaking in the straps, when using leather straps we always scrubbed them on the edge of the cymbal to wear them in before using. For nylon straps we really don't do anything special. You just have to be aware that you are going to have to tighten them often.
what happened to 7-10 chapters 😭😭???
What's up? I was wondering if this new uploaded video is a kind of compilation of the previous videos which you deleted (chapter 9 crashes - part 1 to 4)? And does this video contain new crash types? And btw I love your videos. I'm from Germany and I'm actually playing marching snare, after a few years I also played bass drum and quint toms but cymbals were always a bête noir for me. Until I was asked to teach somebody in our marching band. I watched all your Videos more than once and now I really like to play the cymbals it's really fun. Anyway thx for you effort in producing these videos and for the nice explaining. It helps a lot :)
Thanks BOB21 I truly appreciate that! It's really a fun art once you get into it. We spent 5 years in Stuttgart Germany and loved it. The new video does take place of the other 4 videos. A lot of stuff in the other 4 versions was very outdated so I wanted to update them with what we are currently using.
Eddie Capps 5 years in Stuttgart. Nice. I love the dialect of the People there (Schwäbisch) :D. I live in Potsdam, Brandenburg. Right next to Berlin.
It is also the first year my school is doing a cymbal line
Good luck and let me know if you guys have any questions.
This was conveniently posted yesterday and I got cymbal line today pretty useful
Awesome coincidence. Make sure you check out the entire series. I'm redoing a bunch of them to be more up to date.
Eddie Capps that’s pretty cool even now they still help alot
Thank you
did you guys have sheet music or did you write this yourself?? Because my cymbal line was looking to do a solo without our drumline and its beautiful
No sheet music it just all came from my head. It was a lot of fun.
this is really helpful thanks
Jewoine Wilson thanks I appreciate that!
+Eddie Capps no problem I've been one of three cymbal players in the entire band it's nice to have such a clear guide to make performances fun and easier great job
Thanks For The Vid!! How Long Is The Strap??
We make each one specific to each player. Most of my high school kids have really small hands as compared to my Drum Corps kids.
When we cut our own we start with 3 inches of free strap then wrap around your hand like you are in the garfield grip and pull 3 inches past before cutting. Then after you cut your first strap and tie it, you will see how much excess strap is left. This lets you know if you should cut shorter or longer for the next strap.
I love this. I am so going to try this for standing at ease position.
She look tense as fuc
can you make a video for beginners because I can't understand what you are trying to teach me. I have Meinl cymbals and they are 18" and I use bandannas and I want to be able to flip in and out with control and flip up in the air and flip with both hand to the side. I would really appreciate the help please.
