There should be a service interval for this pcv valve, I had mine changed and it stopped the oily smells entering the cabin.

My recommendation is DO THIS NOW !! on your OM642. It's an easy change and will protect against oil leaks destroying the Swirl valve controller. I Change mine every 20k miles.

Its not a proper cleaning of EGR as to do proper cleaning you have to take off plastic cover as the mechanism is there.

Have still enough to go to the dealership ….. it is annoying.

On an OM642 DIESEL this is a oil/air separator.

Wrong! If oil is being consumed than it means piston rings are stuck. PCV cannot fix it.

Rather than using a chisel, undo the bolts half a turn and turn the engine on. The EGR valve will pop up. Turn the engine off and undo the bolts.

It is almost nessesary to check out the part attached to the crankcase. If the seal inside of if it is used then replacing PCV might not be enough. The part below is even more important as it is the main reason why oil is sucked to the turbo intake. If the seal of the part that pcv is attached to is used, it will also cause PCV rubber to be damaged again if the engine crankcase preassure is already too high in used engines due to lower compression or other issues.

Hi I have the same car yesterday on the motorway just lost the power completely stopped the car start again everything back to normal I felt today on cruise the car jerked bit!! Do you think it's the Egr valve? And fuel consumption on moterway around 36mpg at the 70ph? Any suggestions to get better mpg or that's is the max I can get? Thanks in advance

I watched these video and I replaced the PCV valve. Before I replaced it my car was using 2 quarts of oil every 2 weeks. After I replaced no oil usage at all. 0 thanks for these videos

That is cheap. A similar trip here in the UK traveling from north to south 200 miles would cost about £80 in an I.C.E car

Are you program a cluster to show fuel consumption bar? In my car i can see only numbers for reset or daily consumption

Great video again, subscribed and hope to see more content on the OM642 engine. About the updated version of the PCV it may be of a better design but the red seal which goes to the intake is now incorporated within the PCV valve hose. This means that in the future when the seals's gooves wear out you cannot replace it separately as in the old design but you may have to replace the entire assembly again. That is why in my W164 I did not replace the PCV with a genuine one but one from Vaico and oil in the intake has been minimal which is normal in this engine.

I used a MAF sensor cleaning spray and it worked perfectly. It's safe on plastics and rubber too, as it's a less harsh composition than brake cleaner or carb cleaner aerosols. Looking at the oil in your intake, I think it's time to change the PCV valve and it's camshaft connector. Those usually only last 50-70k km.
