I'm Gay But I Know Jesus
This is an ad-lib video of me explaining how I believe I know Jesus while also being gay.
Forgive me as I try to articulate my thoughts-I'm just genuinely trying to understand if what I'm experiencing is God because it sounds crazy.
In my internal reckoning of whether what’s happening to me is from God, the internal changes in my heart and mind convince me most. Unlike external things, like getting money when I need it-something many Christians attribute to God-I’m more cautious about linking those events to Him. But the internal transformation feels harder to explain as anything other than God. If that makes sense.

    Jesus loves you. If you believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures was buried and rose again on the 3rd day according to the scriptures, you are saved. Jesus never stops loving you because everyone falls short of His Glory every day. Jesus gave us eternal life when we believed so we are God's children forever. It's not about what we do, it's what Jesus did for us. He saved us. He willingly gave His life so we can live. We have so much to be thankful for. Praise Jesus.

    Saint Augustine writes in his Confessions, “You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in You.” My daily experience. When I backtrack my restlessness, quite often I come to the conclusion that I am far away from God. Usually I can label this far away place as pride. But I have tasted the peace only God can give. I kind of sense His goodness and mercy. So, although it is a daily battle, coming back over and over again is what I hope to do until He takes me home.

    We're the same age and both would have been coming out around the same time. We're definitely living different lives now. I agree with and follow church teachings on sexuality. But I'm really happy for you that you aren't giving up on God. Keep cultivating that relationship. God finds us where we are and can work in our lives in ways we don't expect. I think the temptation of Christians is to say that if a person isn't where they think they should be then they can't have a real relationship with Jesus. But I know that in my own life, no matter where I've been, God was working in my life and paving a way been to Him. I disagree with some of the conclusions you're at now, but I can really relate to what you're experiencing and I'm happy for you having that relationship you have now.

      @@melodyrachel I used to live that way. I was actually engaged to a woman. One thing I can say and have learned is that you can think a woman is attractive…there’s nothing inherently wrong with that but it’s the action of acting on it. It’s the lust of it, even with thoughts. Obviously I’m not going to tell you what to believe or how to feel as I know personally the struggle of understanding God and what the Bible and Christianity is all about. As you walk with God and grow with Him, He will peel back the layers of not just His word but what He wants for you. Clearly God is pulling on your heart and I know for me personally where I was in life when I started seeking Him, I was horrified of what I had to give up but I had to count the cost. Some things I can recommend to grow deeper and keep your heart and mind in Christ is Moody Radio, and books by Lacey Sturm. Will be praying for you as you continue to grow!😁💖

In a lot of Muslim majority countries, it is Christians who are known for their religion allowing them to drink. Since Jesus turned water into wine, and alcohol is not forbidden anywhere in the Bible, it is a bit strange that some Christian groups have adopted that prohibition. Great story! That is my own experience and my little looking around I am sharing here. Coming back to the wisdom of the Church, deep peace is one of the signs that we have discerned well. Deep peace is different than a temporary satisfaction and calm. I recognise Jesus by the peace that world cannot give me. Once you have experienced it, you know that you know that you know. It does not come cheap. But is worth it. May Good God bless you and keep you, Melody.

    The church IS inclusive to ALL sinners because nobody is sinless. However, we're not supposed to live in blatant sin. God's design for humanity does not include homosexuality and the bible makes that clear. If church bends the rules and says it's okay, they're a false church. If God forgives you but you refuse to change and turn from sin it's very disrespectful to God.

    • @melodyrachel
      @melodyrachel 2 дня назад

      Hey, thanks for commenting and engaging with my content. What you are saying here doesn’t quite sit well with me, but I am struggling to articulate why. I’ll give it a go, my experience with Jesus and conviction of sin is that he shows me what sin is. Conviction of sin can mean - to be shown the truth of it. I believe this happens through his Holy Spirit with me. I don’t think we just look at the Bible like it’s a set of moral instructions or a rule book, and follow it. I see the Bible as more of a guide. A lot of people see sin as external actions. But God has shown me it is a condition of the heart, and my convictions are always at the motivational level. I suppose what I am trying to understand is, if being gay is a sin, why would the Holy Spirit not convict me like he does with all other sins? It’s probably not something you can answer, but I’m here to engage :)

    Actually, the logic points to his existence. The fact that all his disciples chose to die defending his resurrection, not very pleasent deaths. Multiple history writers metioned him. The church was persecuted from its very begining and even with that difficulties continued to grow. Obviously, in ancient times, people were not stupid, you had to do some crazy miracles to make them change gods... witch they did. There have been much more miracles all over the history. So many people has expierience the grace of god, its beyond understanding. And the list could continue for ever... The actual point is. God exists, he chose to make himself as one of us to experience human life, carried with all of our sins, as he is just and by his law sin made you die. and its such a good awesome loving god, that having done everything for us, lets you choose to believe in him or not. And will die again just for you! 🤯

    I think I see what you mean on this one. We tend to focus on external behaviors when there is a deeper problem at hand. In Christian evangelism, much of the time people focus on behavior or "sin management" rather than actually focusing on people's hearts being transformed for Christ to be the guide in their life. To me it feels like putting the cart before the horse. Also, did you happen to speak at the re-voice conference? If so, I saw some clips on YT and thought you did a fantastic job speaking there. Your existence as a gay person is not a sin. The sin is to live a life of homosexual activities and immoral behaviour. The same goes for straight people and pornography, prostitution and adultery. We're all dealing with feelings and desires and that's okay, but it is not okay to try to change the Word of God so you can justify acting upon your immoral desires. And no, this is not about "love". So many diabolical and messed up things coming from the queerdo community that are definitely NOT "love".

    • @melodyrachel
      @melodyrachel День назад

      I disagree with your definition of sin as merely immoral behaviour. Sin is far more complex than that. Defining it by simply labelling actions as sinful reflects a shallow understanding of its meaning. Below is a quote from theologian Oswald Chambers: "The nature of sin is not immorality and wrongdoing, but the nature of self-realisation which leads us to say, “I am my own god.” This nature may exhibit itself in proper morality or in improper immorality, but it always has a common basis- my claim to my right to myself." I honestly see following the bible as a set of moral instructions, worse than atheism, in my opinion.

    • @davideassis87
      @davideassis87 День назад

      @@melodyrachel I agree with this quote. And to put your desires above God's Word and Plans is nothing but to believe that you're “your own god”. That's exactly why the actual Sin comes when you act upon your desires, because you're “claiming to your right to yourself”. Now, regarding the Bible as a set of moral instructions... that's because the only true and absolute moral standard is God. Without Him everyone has their own personal moral, which makes right and wrong a matter of opinion... which also circles back to the previous point, to be “your own god” and etc. And that's exactly the problem with the belief that “love is love”, it's just people doing what they want and claiming to be “love”. Now, if you're willing to sacrifice your desires and to find your personality and true self in Christ instead of your gender or sexual preference, then you'll get to know true love.

      @@davideassis87 Hey, thanks for responding. I'm glad we could find some common ground. Back to the Bible, yup, I would agree that it is God's standard. However, I would say we can only follow his standards and Jesus teaching through the life he imparts within us. Trying to follow and of God's teaching without the Holy Spirit reconstructing our hearts is futile, so I'm just gonna let him keep doing a work in me :) Re: sexual preference and gender, etc, I believe you are making assumptions about me from information you do not have. The best way to strenghten your faith is to read the bible and pray everyday. Then you will grow, grow, grow~ For example if you want to know someone better what do you do? I disagree. There is an objective truth-either God exists, or He doesn't. I believe in God, but I’m questioning whether my belief reflects that truth. Doubt doesn’t cancel out belief; it’s part of the process of seeking understanding.

    • @GeraldJacobsYoutube
      @GeraldJacobsYoutube 10 дней назад

      @@melodyrachel I agree that it is objectively true and I'm not advocating blind faith. The problem lies with skepticism being just as bad as blind faith because both influence your subjective perception. In usual cases it would be good to have doubts, but the problem arises when we approach objective spiritual truth with doubt, it actually causes us to turn a blind eye to any evidence of it being true. That's why the Bible warns so strongly against lukewarmness and doublemindedness, because we have a tendency to look for evidence to support our beliefs, so in other words we can perpetually remain in this state of doubt until we fully give the gospel a chance and believe with out any doubt, that is when we start to see it for what it is. We are saved by grace through faith and we are born-again once we believe in Jesus. We cannot believe and doubt him at the same time, it has to be all or nothing, because light and darkness does not mix. Your belief that it could be false is likely the reason you cannot see why it is true and that is a dangerous place to be spiritually, because there are actual fallen angels that can negatively influence us without Christ.

    It is very possible that Jesus, the person, is not in fact real. Historians and theologians have shown that many of the tales and motifs of the New Testament existed in other texts, before the time of Christ, and it is very likely that the story of Jesus was crafted from these pre-existing stories. HOWEVER, that does not mean there is any problem with being a Christian, loving Jesus, and living a pious life. Christianity is a religion that aims to spread love, faith, and peace in the minds of its followers and the world at large, in order to make a flourishing civilization possible, and that is a beautiful and virtuous thing. I am not a Christian, not even religious at all, but I am descended from a line of Episcopalian ministers (my grandfather, my great grandfather, my great great grandfather, and my great great great grandfather), and so I have a deep and abiding respect for religious folk of all kinds, creeds, and sects, so long as they share in the basic humanistic values of love for all other humans, respect for their rights and freedom, and a striving for peace in the world… and I think all atheists and agnostics should recognize those same virtues (although I of course do not speak for everyone).

    If you're crazy, then we're the same brand of crazy! Sin takes our ability to bear fruit - humans like to propagate all sorts of habits and create gods to somehow replace our own shortcomings, which in place takes us further away from the wonderful creation we each were made to be. What if we could be better beings, who are fulfilling our best potential in the likeness of Christ? I, alongside many millions, cannot help but feel convicted that life seems to make more sense this way. Jesus is the only figure in history to have bridged that gap - and my over-intellectualising self has come right back to Jesus, the bridge that God Himself built to have a personal relationship with each individual creation. It appears that our Creator holds you right in His great hands Melody! May you continue to blossom and bear wonderful fruit, that one can only be moved to share in the nourishment that you can offer! Strength be with you as you carry the cross.

    You have free will, but there are moments in life that will make you question whether you even had a choice in the first place. When "following your heart" turns into "whatever earns me the most cash" are you really free to choose? Like that Justin Bieber scandal that just came out with Diddy... He says he's a Christian, but his dream of becoming a popstar made him say yes to gay orgies and being humiliated in tons of ways from a young age. Could he have said "I want to be a popstar, but not like this. I'm going to wait on god and even if it takes 20-30 years, I'm not going to do these horrible things..." ? Yes. He could. But it almost feels stupid to ask him to do that... Any regular person would've thought "You're just jealous I'm about to be super rich and famous... You don't know what's best for me." So there's this running gag of "made you do it." Going on, and it starts mildly with scams and lies, and gets even worse with self degradation and public humiliation... Like pledges in college, but the chrstian version. However, if what created you knew in advance what you're like how could he give you this as a test to pass? Wouldn't he be causing you to sin by proposing things he knows you're succeptible to accept? Or is shaping the world and organizing the turn of events to him more important than how a specific individual fares? Why did he let Judas get tempted to betray him? Why wouldn't he just hang out with his favorite disciple all day that day in order to keep him from betraying him and eventually taking his own life? Either he was hangng out with the cooler ones instead, or he knew that was going to happen and it was a part of the plan.

      @@melodyrachel It's rhetorically asked not to seek the truth, but to illustrate the fallacy of the counterargument and thus illustratively put the counteractive depiction leading to the light. I did it mad times, but after I do it goes super unnoticed and like the widow had her two last coins to give and gave a 100%, after paying all my credit card bills and stuff responsibly like an adult, those 30$ never made the time worth... It's all about supply and demand, but if you don't like how it went down, should you be forced to be a paying customer of a service you find unnecessary? That drives out the clients instead of rising better in comparison with the competitors. In reality, it's like a wishing well. Toss a coin or two, say something wish for something who knows what will happen? The token's the ticket and the ride might end up at the end of the rainbow or to something that would've aligned you with the destiny of eventually fulfilling that dream.

      One thing to note is that it's the devil that tempts us, not God. God knows that we're easily tempted, it's part of our nature, but we have the ability to resist that temptation if we are submitted to God (James 4:7). And even if we do fall into sin, we can turn to God and confess it to him, and we will be forgiven. When we sin, we make the choice ourselves, just because temptations exist doesn't mean God forces us to give into them. The reason Jesus let Judas betray him is because he gave us humans free will to choose whether or not to sin. We as humans are able to choose between good(God) and bad(sin). God isn't going to force his way into our lives, he won't force you to choose him or to accept him. Jesus is standing at the door knocking (Revelations 3:20), but it's our choice to answer. Humans have the choice to reject God, and if they do, God respects that decision. Even if Judas hadn't betrayed Jesus, he still would've been crucified. I know you probably aren't looking for a genuine response, but I encourage you to seek Jesus for yourself, even if it seems silly or futile.

    • @JamesBogu
      @JamesBogu 10 дней назад

      @@xantherx He can direct the outcome of the situation though. Yes he has a choice to make, but if the test was given to someone who had a higher likelihood of passing that test, the story would've been completely different. Knowing that he chose to not hang out with Judas that day even though he could have prevented his betrayal by avoiding having him submitted to that probation completely,

    • @xantherx
      @xantherx 10 дней назад

      @@JamesBogu I don't know what exactly you mean by "test". Matthew 26:14 says Judas *went* to the chief priests, so God definitely didn't send anyone to Judas to 'test' his faith, he went there of his own accord. Even if it was a test, you used the word "likelihood" meaning that it's impossible to know for certain what would've or could've happened if it was someone else. Going back to the word "went", you can clearly see that Judas left Jesus, not the other way around, and if you read a few verses before that, it's implied that all the disciples were present at Jesus's anointing. Also, why should Jesus prevent the betrayal? As I said before, God respects man's choice to reject him, since Judas wanted to betray Jesus, why should he stop him. However I do agree with you that God can direct the outcome of a situation. Even if it was a different disciple that betrayed Jesus, or there was no betrayal at all, Jesus still would've been crucified, and he still would've given up his life for us, because he loves us that much. God will always find a way to turn a situation around.
