I read a few of her books before I read the Murder of R A. I discovered who the murderer was at some point in the story. I wrote down the name and I asked my husband to check the last few pages of the book to see if I was right, but not to tell me. I was delighted I was right. I couldn't tell who the murderers were in any of her other novels, but I was chuffed I guessed who it was in the novel described as her masterpiece. I have read most of her novels, she was a great writer .☘️🇮🇪

The Murder of Roger Ackroyd is my number one. Number two is And Then There Were None. And number three is Murder on the Orient Express.

Potential spoiler contained in this post: I have often wondered if the ABC Murders was the first time this trope (see below for description of trope) was used by a non-obscure author? I have seen this trope, with variations, in other books by other authors, as well as TV shows, and is one of the first things I suspect when it starts to look like that kind of story. (Trope description and probably spoiler below) The trope is to bury an intentional murder among a group of apparently random murders by some kind of serial killer, because the intentional murder by itself has such a clear-cut motive and perpetrator. Also, I think there is an inherent flaw in this strategy in the real world, but I don't want to spoil anyone's fun any further.

I'd have to imagine that trying to pick 3 out of 80 plus books is terribly hard....but somehow you came up with a list and now I must do my Due Diligence and check them out! Thank you for a started list! MOO From COW-lumbus, Ohio 👋 ps....was curious if you ever watched TV shows and or movies made from books Ms. Christie has written and if so, what might be your thoughts?

What?????!!!!!! You must be the Only One. Get reading now!! The best ones are: - Those listed here by Mr Archer (And then there were none; The ABC Murders, The Murder of Roger Ackroyd) but also - Hallowe'en Party - Lord Edgware Dies - The Mysterious Affair at Styles (this was her first novel) - Peril at End House - Death in the Clouds - Murder in Mesopotamia (ingenious!) - Dumb Witness - Murder in the Mews - Death on the Nile - One, Two, Buckle my Shoe - Cat among the Pigeons - After the funeral - Evil under the sun - The Clocks - Elephants can remember If you can find them on DVD all the better! Some (Murder on the Blue Train, Three Act Tragedy, Death comes as the end, They came to Baghdad - dreadful).

I have always thought that President Biden's problem was that he didn't have Aaron Sorkin writing for him. There he could be surrounded by hyper competent, intelligent staffers who had all the facts and figures right on the tip of their tongue and could blithely recite them as they walked through the White House. Watching press conferences recently I couldn't help thinking 'Where is C.J. Cregg when we need her?'

Is Kane and Abel based on John Rockefeller Jr and Andrew Carnegie? After reading this book, I can't stop guessing who are the main characters due to great curiousness. Rockefeller refused to rise the price of oil transportation as a support for and Friend of Andrew, Thomas Scott died of bankruptcy. This is the motive for Andrew to surpass Rockefeller about property. Andrew is an immigrant and has only one daughter. His life is as same as what Abel experienced
