Bach: St Matthew Passion BWV 244, Part II, Final Movement, Wir setzen uns mit Tränen nieder
Johann Sebastian Bach’s St. Matthew Passion (Matthäuspassion), BWV 244, is one of the most profound works in the sacred choral repertoire, widely regarded as one of the greatest achievements in Western music. Composed in 1727 (with revisions in later years), this monumental piece remains one of Bach’s finest works.
Final Chorus: “Wir setzen uns mit Tränen nieder”
The final movement of the St. Matthew Passion, “Wir setzen uns mit Tränen nieder” (“We sit down in tears”), is a deeply moving and reflective piece.
