Rott's are one of the most trainable breeds. When I was working K-9 handler I found them to be the most focused breed I'd ever worked when training to work. But training is not optional with Rottweilers, it is necessary for their overall confidence and temperament.

Not certain about the points made but ,if anyone else is searching for guide for puppy training try Jaffacter Simple Dog Coach (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my friend got great success with it.

The best trainers of the world are NOT "Sit Means Sit" trainers. Our dog did the full week board and train with them. Our dog came back to us worse. He had NO hair left on his neck and he had sores from the training (shock) collar, which was caused by not being taken off and too high of a shocking level. I would NEVER recommend anyone to use Sit Means Sit. It was Duke Ferguson and Unleashed Potential and his video programs that has gotten our dog to eat, be food motivated and happy and wanting to work for treats.

People have to understand this puppy is a SMART puppy which says a lot about the dam and sire. All pups are trainable I believe and I only train pitbulls to get these same results started their training at 6 weeks because their attention span is "almost" impossible to control but they do catch on. So don't feel bad if you're pup isn't catching on as quick as this one keep it up they will.

Yeah, it doesn't hurt. That's the way conditioned punishers work. By definition they're neutral until conditioned with an unconditioned aversive. Unfortunately, people aren't aware of this and are tricked into believing that's the whole she-bang. At what level do you condition them with on the dog, though?

What is it cool? oO Here in Germany your dog must be able to do this, otherwise you don't get the certificate of competence for keeping a dog.

U tought him all that in 6 days? I had my puppy for 2 weeks n all he wants to do is sleep lol. I literally have to skip 1 of his 3 meals just to have him interested enough want to work for the treats. Lazy big breeds lol

My pup is 8 weeks and doesn't look anything like yours proportion wise.. Maybe the lady I got it from lied but my little guy is weaned, still stumbles around when walking, still has the puppy belly, and I can barely get him to come to my voice although he'll follow me everywhere if he can see me. Has only made the mistake of pottying once in the house in the last week. It definitely seems like your GSD has 2-3 weeks on mine growth wise if not more.

I understand. Im saying that 'good dog' preceded the dog alerting. Not you but often times trainers or officers will subconsciously signal the dog to alert and then the dog alerts.

Passive alert is the opposite of the aggressive alert. The dog is trained to sit and point to the odour, Instead of scratching aggressively at the odour. Less things get damaged this way.

"Good dog" before the dog sat down. Assuming the sit is the passive alert.

Chad, The elevated spot is a target. it lets the dog know exactly where it should be and not move from it. We do not teach "Stay" in our training. We tell the dog what to do and tell it GOOD this means keep doing what your doing and when I release you youll get paid. My release command is "BREAK"...you can use anything you wish. a target " PLACE " helps the dog stay. What's the purpose behind getting the pup to sit on the elevated spot? Thanks for posting - looking to get my first German Shepherd pup in the near future.
