I'm thinking of moving there, the airport may not be a major international airport but you can still get a lot of places, and major international airports are a lot closer in proximity than many areas of the country would have them. I'm sure being close to Ohio there's a lot of good quality fresh produce too

I hated Winter when I was single digits in age. Dad said “the snow comes in to clean everything so it’s Green in April/May.” 62 years later, when Spring comes, I think of the Snow as scrubbing bubbles, removing last year from the outdoors.

Live in GR from 1991-1996 and loved it. I am considering moving back for retirement. I saw a lot of changes in those few short years.

I plan to move to the Grand Rapids area in the future, but even just living in Grand Rapids has a huge perk: you can not only visit Grand Haven on a weekly basis, but why not visit other beach towns like Saugatuck and Holland, those are 30 minutes away. Last summer, my wife, dog and I took advantage of the vacation in Grand Rapids by visiting both Grand Haven and Saugatuck. Saugatuck has a special place in my heart, I've spent 3 summers there during high school, and it was my first visit there in 35 years. A lot has changed there, there were many different shops from when I last visited, but the drug store is still there.

I ride a bike year round & use the bus in bad weather. The only days you really can't use a bicycle, are days of deep snow; until the plows clean it out. But you can just walk those days. I just wear a face mask hat & snow pants & wool socks. If you dress for the weather, it is perfectly comfortable. I live near downtown & can go to even the far ends of town in every direction, in anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes, 40 max. You can even bike trails all the way out to Lake Michigan in just a couple of hours. Trips to Lake Michigan or the U.P give a lot to do. We have a great bike trail system, also leading to nearby cities, such as Rockford north, or Byron Center south.

I didn't here anything about the Bar seen its probably one of the best in the Midwest.

If you are looking to move here with kids, just know the GH school board quietly signed on to the new title IX stuff, requiring teachers to use students' preferred pronouns as well as allowing boys into girls' private spaces and sports. I am happy my last two are almost done. I can't imagine starting them in elementary school here.

Comparing Chicago to Grand Rapids is diabolical and therefore I must “don’t recommend this channel”

I live in Addison, IL, 15 minutes from O'Hare, and I work in Wood Dale, which is in that same area. Frequently my work sends me to Grand Rapids to do belting work at Kellogg's on 28th Street. I've been going up there for 12 years now, and have grown well attached to GR. It has got me convincing myself to move there, because of the quality of life, the cost of living, not to mention the brewpubs and so many activities going on. And I can't forget to mention the driving distance to the beaches. I even brought my whole family there this past summer. I didn't tell the wife yet, but I really want to move to the Grand Rapids area. Chicago doesn't do it for me anymore, everything is expensive, and the politicians don't know how to properly run a city, and don't get me started on the crime here. I love the neighborhood I live in now, don't get me wrong. We've lived here for 10 years, we know our neighbors very well, and our dog, Cece, has a lot of friends. But working in Chicago is not fulfilling. I wish that my work could put a branch in Grand Rapids so I can run it the way I want to, and if that doesn't happen, I can still find work there, that is until I retire.

I came there in 1994 and 2002 from Sydney Australia loved the place all the way up Nth to Mackinaw Island that whole strip was magic and the Musical Fountain was amazing never leaves me.

My wife, dog and I visited Grand Haven back in July. We stopped at the beach, and walked around town. We absolutely loved it there. Our dog, Cece, was a big hit with the townspeople. Grand Haven is one good reason out of many why I want to move to the Grand Rapids area, there is absolutely no shortage of great beach towns to spend a day, or maybe a weekend.

I spent my high school summers here at a now-defunct Presbyterian Church camp by Lake Michigan. I took my wife and dog there from Grand Rapids going back to Illinois. It was my first visit to Saugatuck in 35 years. I'm looking to move to the Grand Rapids area, and one of the best things about living in the GR area is that Saugatuck, among other beach towns, is 30 minutes away.

Rockford is one of my relocation candidates.

What are your thoughts about Walker and Comstock Park? I've stayed at Walker during my many trips to Grand Rapids, and I've visited Comstock Park also. That's the area I'm mostly interested in buying a home, with the addition of Rockford. Belmont is also in the running as well.

Lake Michigan #1

Grand Rapids is probably one of the best places to live in America. Isn't to big and isn't to small. Has all the amenties one would want and alot of good surrounding suburbs to live in. I live about 12 mins from the City and it's amazing to live in Grand Rapids. I can't think of anywhere else to live that's better that's isn't a place with a high cost of living.

Lived in GR for most of my life and wouldn't want to be anywhere else. Not to big and not to small, I love it.

Public Transportation (The rapid bus line) Is miles ahead in quality over other buses I've used. They have a very decent schedule, and Uber and Lyft are available in town if you need to get somewhere outside of those hours or to go places not on bus lines. Not even to mention the free dash bus
