Is there a way to tell if an artifact has been painted by the naked eye?
Great question! Unfortunately there is no easy answer, as it likely varies with each individual case. If there are only trace pigments on the artifact it may only be detected through microscopic techniques, however some artifacts with heavy residue or pigment deposits are easily identified with the naked eye through understanding of surface features of different tool and material types as well as the reaction of such pigments to the artifact and its post-depositional histories. For example, heavy presence of ochre can be fairly discernible on artifacts with solely visual queues. Thank you for giving a view and comment! ❤
🙏
thank you!
Where’s the Hindu Iconography? These are ancient Buddhist Iconography 😂
Thank you for giving a view and comment. You are absolutely right that the title of the video mentions "Introduction to Hindu Art and Architecture". However, this is a 6-week long course that has multiple video lectures covering a broad range of topics related to Indian art and architecture. In this particular video, the course mentor introduces the Beginning of Art in India, Iconography, and Buddhist Iconography. This covers the shared cultural context and influences of other traditions that emerged in the Indian subcontinent, such as Buddhist and Jain art. While the focus of this specific video is on Buddhist Iconography, it's part of a larger exploration of the interconnectedness of various artistic traditions in India. You can learn more about Hindu art and iconography in other videos within the same playlist. Thank you! 🙂❤
This is a great overview.
Thank you for your kind words! 💖We are glad to hear that you found the lecture interesting and appreciate the efforts of the mentor and the Save Cultural Heritage Group team. 🙂
Your ability to articulate words is very impressive.
Glad you like it! 💖

Hola.
When Mary Leaky was asked when we would figure out the evolutionary process of early man, she said "we will never figure it out".
When did she say this? I’ll wager she never said this. If so, she would have been woefully incorrect. We understand a great deal about the evolutionary process, and understood a great deal about it during Leaky’s life. Of course, she’d be amazed at how the discoveries connected to the human genome have transformed science and contributed to the science of evolution. I wonder what she would think of all the dumb and ignorant people who don’t have the ability to comprehend new scientific discoveries? Pity them perhaps?
That's a fascinating quote! Mary Leakey was a renowned paleoanthropologist, and her statement might have been a reflection of the complexity and fragmentation of the fossil record, particularly for early human ancestors. However, significant recent discoveries and developments in fields like genetics, paleogenomics, and geochronology have since shed more light on human evolution. While there is still much to learn, scientists have made substantial progress in reconstructing the human evolutionary journey. Leakey's statement might have been a testament to the challenges and limitations of her time, but it also highlights the importance of continued exploration, research, and innovation in uncovering the secrets of human evolution. #discoveries
