Nice trout Eamonn! Thanks for sharing.
@@peinadosensei thanks
Where on the river were you fishing in this edit thanks
@@realboysmtb2020 I was at the gaa club there near madabawn
@tainflyfishing9302 i thought that lol i recognised that rock i got few in that pool couple weeks ago on daddy's long legs
Hi Eamon, makes you feel confident just looking at it. Do you sell your flies commercially? Also if a CDC pattern like this gets waterlogged, do you change fly or dry it out with the powder / other methods?
@mikekennedy4549 hi Mike thanks for your kind words ,I do sell them sometimes, I dry my cdc with tissue then re apply some powder ,
I have learned so much from your videos, Eamonn! And it all works out here in New Mexico, USA. Many thanks!
@leeroypeinado8436 wow that's cool ,really appreciate your kind words 👌
Great effort given the conditions.
@@QuintonMFlyfishing thanks for your kind words 👌
Hi Eamonn i was up at magoney bridge a couple of weeks ago, very low and tough. i had one fish and lost 2 compared to my last visit in spring i had about 30. Might try a different stretch next time before the season ends, what other stretch would you recommend this time of year?
Try the lower region of the river there's more of a flow ,I was in knockbridge in this video, if the river goes up another foot the river will start to fish again all over , the low water is making it so hard
Good stuff Eamonn it looked unfishable at the beginning, many would have stayed at home.
@melmckenna4195 thanks Mel for the kind words
Lovely to see you out on the river again. Tough everywhere right now but lots to be learning every time, thanks
@colmogaora6055 Thanks for your kind words,
Great video just subscribed thanks from Belfast 👍👍
Thank you
Hi Eamonn, could I ask if you use the original Bug Off UV resin or the newer Bug Off Light version (lower viscosity) …many thanks 🙏
@Tjk186 I think it is the older version that stuff is abit thick
Thank you 🙏
Good to see you again Eamonn ! Well done in those tough low water conditions…thanks for sharing your set ups, tips and techniques
@Tjk186 Thanks for your kind words
It's been a while, well done
@martincorcoran8263 it sure has ,thank you 👌
Hi. Interesting video on the Daiwa shock leader for dry and nymph. I’m going to give it a try,but was interested in whether you prefer the clear or fluo orange. My present nymph set up is to use level 6 lb yellow fluo amnesia Thanks
@grahamyoung5273 hi there, thanks for your kind words,I have tried an orange shock leader but I prefer the clear,
Congrats on the leinster win Eammon. i fished Magoney bridge up and down stream on your recommendation when river fane was a bit high while back, had a supper day with about 30 fish. Ten or so is usually a good day for me so thanks very much. I paid for the season so i want to go back for more. With rivers in nice condition now can you recommend another stretch for me to try please? i will fish right into darkness, my favoured way to fish is dry, dry dropper, and then nymphing, in that order. Thanks very much Eamonn that's a gem of a river, cheers.
@mylesreilly5912 Hi myles thanks for the kind words, to be honest up round there is still good in lower conditions, the dryfly fishing is super at the moment ,just run your flies through the weeds and the trout will come out of knowhere to grab them ,I find the sedge is working well size 16s
@@tainflyfishing9302 Gentleman, thanks Eamonn
Nice fly would have liked to see it from the top when you finished.
Brilliant video just started euro nymphing what your line set up thanks
Thanks for your kind words ,I'll try to put something together for you
@tainflyfishing9302 thank you that would be a big help thanks again
Great video
Thank you 😀
Hey guys , Love your videos, I am new to fly fishing and will be doing most of my fishing on the Munster blackwater and I was wondering if anyone had some good recommendations for good books for fly fishing in general and in particular fly fishing in Ireland. Cheers
Thanks for your kind words , I would recommend a book by Peter O Rielly the rivers of Ireland, if you're goin to the munster black water check out Glenda Powell
Thanks a million for the info , I will definitely pop up to Glenda as I'm in the process of picking my first fly set up which is also a tough task. We recently moved here and live a stones throw from the river so we might as well enjoy all it has to offer. Thanks again and look forward to your videos and insight.
Great stuff Eamon some great tips there from a seasoned competitor 👏👏
Thank you
Everything there is useful Eamonn, because you don't know you need it until you need it!
How are ya Eamonn, its Morgan. Ur videos seem to be doing grand, keep it up👍👍

Nice rod Eamonn, the best of luck withit. Mel.
Yeah I'm just getting back into fly fishing as my fishing gear was stolen from my garden shed and I only have silstar carbodynamic 9#6-7 and I will be going to get a new one soon so I will be contacting you for one soon thanks for sharing big like from me bud tight lines 🤝
Eamonn, great fishing. Maybe fish could be a bit closer for a good look, that's all, especially the seatrout. Otherwise your video is excellent as usual.
Thanks Andrew 👌
Hi Eamon this is prob not the best way to contact you but il chance it, thinking of fishing the Fane around knockbridge tomorrow but my first time to this river. Do you know is it too high or would it be ok, thank you.
Hi myles it is high at the moment, I went up again last night ,I'd try upstream around magoney bridge
@@tainflyfishing9302 Thanks very much Eamonn.
Thanks Eamonn, what iv noticed you and others do is when you catch a fish, you often use the net to hold both the fish and rod while releasing the fish. I have one of those nets ordered to try out the same tactic, cheers.
Great stuff!
Thank you
Thanks for sharing Eamon.
No hassle, thanks for watching
Is the video shot on the Annnalee?
@@paulroche519 hi there ,no I made this one in co louth beside the cooley river
new fly fisher here; why such a long leader? is that particular to nymphing?
Hi there, there's a few reasons, you are only fishing onfront of you so no need for the flyline to cast the nymphs far when you have more control when they are close to you, then also a leader is thinner than a flyline and the leader sags less outside the tip and more of a direct connection to the nymphs ,Hope this helps
@@tainflyfishing9302 that makes a lot of sense! Thank you!
Eamonn, another great video! Thanks for sharing! Oh, and thanks for sharing the video of the pergon and while back, it works like a charm here in New Mexico, USA!!
Thanks for your kind words 👌
Wow🤍🤍🤍🧡🤍🧡🧡
Very nice. Well done 🍻
Thanks 👌
Surely, if the fish are rising, you should be using a dry fly? 20 years ago, Euro Nymphing was called Czech nymphing. The joke was, it was practised by people who couldn’t cast! Even today, I see people who have only recently learned to “fly fish” catch plenty of fish whilst Euro nymphing. Yet, they haven’t got the skill to cover a rising fish with a dry fly. Which begs the question; is Euro nymphing really fly fishing? You have cracking looking water there. Tight lines
Hi Jim, this time of year the trout will take anything that goes past them this time of year, for the few fish that was rising we got more on nymphs , it is definitely possible for people who can't cast to catch fish on nymphs but those who can cast will definitely catch more with nymphs than anyone else on the river,I think it is flyfishing because you are imitating a fly in its early stage of life ,I do agree it takes alot of practice and skill to use the dryfly, I think each method falls under the umbrella of flyfishing, yes this river is nice ,its worth a day ticket
Tightlines lads
Hi guys, very enjoyable as usual. question please can you buy a season ticket in the shop at knockbridge? or are you only allowed a day ticket, thank you.
Hi Myles, you can get a season ticket in the shop at knockbridge no hassle, the club is open to all 👌
Ah fantastic thank you@@tainflyfishing9302
What a lovely spot plenty of fish thanks 🤝 for the tips and what a nice fish to and the video with big like from me bud tight lines 👌
Thanks
Great catch lads looks like a great spot for a peaceful day fly fishing I got my fly fishing stuff ready to go out and an hour later we got a weather forecast for bad winds and rain so hopefully tomorrow will be nice to get a few casts in and looking forward to your next video thanks for sharing big like from me🎣tight lines 🤝
Thanks fir your kind words , hopefully you get out for a cast soon
Great video Eamon, and great conditions ...thanks for sharing your early season day with us
Thanks for your kind words 👌
Does the season start early over there. It doesn’t start until. 22nd of March here
Hi Graham, yes the fane opens on the 1st of March
Lovely video Eamon, nice stretch
Thanks Colm 👌 yea it's really nice up there
Which part of the Fane is that? Near Magoney no? Great video, lovely bit of river.
Thanks 👌It is about 1km up from the bridge, its really nice up there
Yea. Looks fantastic. Love the videos. The quality is excellent. Keep them coming. Hope to get out this weekend myself for the first wetting of the rod. Can't wait. Thanks again for the brilliant videos. Tight lines
Nice video lads but I think if there was a few fish rising I’d have to throw a dry at them, nothing like early season dry fly fishing 👍🏻
Thanks for your kind words ,That's true, I find in most case's you can catch the rising trout with nymphs this time of year they would eat anything that passes them. Although there's nothing like watching them take dries 👌
Hearing about them double hook ups sure wets the appetie! Great to see it, well done lads!
Thanks Cianan 👌
Plenty of room to fish on that river good video 👍
Yea it's a great spot alright, thanks for your kind words 👌
Hi Eamon just looking back at a few of your videos before the new season, i notice you often put the net between your knees and put the fly rod in the net when releasing the fish. I like the system you have, can you tell me what net you use or recommend please? thanks Eamon.
Hi Myles, the net I use is a mavardi net a friend of mine gave it ti me ,there a great net
Great stuff thank you @@tainflyfishing9302
Supper thank you.
Absolutely amazing I love your rods ❤😊
Ok time to get tying!!! Cheers...
Great vid mate, real red letter day. I am very new to euro nymphing, may i ask what your leader set up is?? Every man and his dog, tells me something different, but you have just proved yours works! Thanks again for video. Cheers from Australia!
Hi there ,thanks for your kind words ,my leader set up is a euro leader then bicolour indicator and then 0.10 tippet with two nymphs roughly 18 apart
@@tainflyfishing9302 Thank you, what weight mono or carbon euro leader? I should have ask more, specific question. I got the tippet , tippet rings and indictor!
I agree with all of the comments from earlier. Let me add, I enjoy the audio of your video, especially the bird song in the background. Part of why we love the outdoors, I’m sure.
Thanks fir the kind words 👌 the birds are really nice alright
