Alexandre Kantorow plays Chopin Etude Op. 10 n.8 in F major
Although he didn't play the right notes at the beginning this is surely one of the most magnificent performances of this study out there.

@@dorfmanjonesNo offense, if you looked closer, his has a large long fingers/hands that he has to curved up to avoid crashing keys. This is something that he is working on. Where I truly believe, this particular op10 no8, is easier people with an "average" hand size. Like Rac, his has a huge hands but his composition has many chords which suited to his hands rather than Mozart.

@@mandienbraems5584 Honestly it doesn't deserve one. I am a pianist myself, I know how horrible it is to play etudes in competition, I am not expecting it to be note perfect. But considering his technical facilities which he showed very well in Brahms and Tchaikovsky concertos this is way below his and the competitions standarts, he shouldn't have been in the second round. Good for him that he played better in the next rounds
@@asalj4014 Oh you're learning! Allow me to substantially dissagree with you though. If it doesn't deserve your time and energy just don't comment anything in the first place, there's never an excuse for mindless negativity. I have played the piano for as long as I can remember, and aspecially as musicians amongst eachother who indeed have a sense of the pressure of playing etudes in these kinds of situations I believe a sense of nuance is required. As far as the music goes: in my opinion this is a rendition of a technically difficult piece that Alexandre managed to play with creative imagination and a good sense of storytelling. I am not claiming it is technically perfect, but it speaks to the audience in a way not all -even technically accurate musicians- are able to. That my friend, is called nuance. I hope you are able to implement more depth, dimension and imagination to your piano playing than to your criticism. Best Regards.
