I've never been inside this building but have been inside numerous similar Catholic structures from that era, many of which have amazing grand entrances that could be the entrance for some very unique upscale condominium apartments, if not and it's just very institutional then it is just a shell of a building that is not seen by many residents and therefore is meaningless. I've preserved 2 homes in this village and am the first one to want to preserve historical buildings, I'm not feeling this one ( the Daughters of Wisdom nuns who taught me at Infant Jesus are rolling over in their graves as I write this.) The rederings of his buildings do not match the character of the original historic structures in the village (they do however look like every other cookie cutter apartment building that's been built here) but it is really impossible to try and build buildings that meet that criteria and provide the density that makes this profitable for the builder.

What happened to Mayor Garant?She was not in attendance.

The village really ought to develop a comprehensive risk benefit assessment on this issue of moving the train station west, outside of the village and onto the lawrence aviation site. One major consequence would be to effectively eliminate one of the biggest attractions for current and future residents of upper port jeff: proximity to the train station. This is especially true as the village continues to build so called “transit oriented housing” in upper port. How will this transit oriented housing still meet that definition if the transit center, meaning the train station, is no longer there? It would be like moving the ferry dock to belle terre or pocquot and still claiming that downtown port is an actual port. In addition, this move would also drop property values in upper port, a neighborhood whose property values the village should be trying to increase rather than decrease. Green energy for the island is a great idea, but people need to stop providing one-sided perspectives on this issue.

Not a Port Jefferson Resident but a concerned resident of Mount Sinai that loves Port Jefferson, my advise: preserve the road leading to your beach at all costs, don't spend a dime trying to save anything else up there or you might as well stand on the bluff and throw money into the sound.

Wow, that was eye opening. I look at this and feel that we may already be too late. I can't imagine that building is salvageable in it's current location. Anyway, is the building movable? In sections if possible and is there a savings in that?
