The flickering is not the only problem.. Blue light are very bad for eyes. And each screen is different and have more and less blue light. 😢

Don’t forget temporal dithering. Some devices are Pwm free, like iPad Pro m2, but have temporal dithering. I bought an m2 iPad Pro but returned it as it caused me extreme discomfort. I’ve tried the new m4 iPad Pro and that too was horrendous. I was gutted. So I bought a refurbished m1 iPad Pro which is fine

I have an iPhone 13 and after a few days of using it I started to get headaches and now I also feel dizzy and nauseous. I also use a s20fe with an amoled screen and I don't feel that. I'm surprised because the s20fe also has pwm but I don't have symptoms like on the iPhone 13

I’m suffering from migraines myself regularly so I need to take this into consideration whenever getting a new phone. Since the iPhone 13 Pro with its 120hz refresh rate they changed the PWM to a higher frequency that shouldn’t bother the eyes as much anymore

But according to the lab test from notebookcheck web site, screen flickering / PWM was detected.

Guys, I was very concerned about all this stuff. I changed my iPhone 8 to 16 pro just two weeks ago. Of course it’s very small amount of time yet, but to be honest I don’t feel any pain in my eyes. I spend in phone at least 4-7 hours per day and everything is good and I’m really enjoying such a fast new phone. Obviously difference is enormous. I don’t know how it will be in the future, but for now i don’t notice any negative effect. I hope it will stay the same and it will help you to choose right option

Thanks for the test! After 10 years of using Samsung S-series I quit them a couple of years ago, my eyes were in pain because of the horrible PWM flicker. Glad to see that Apple still cares about users eyes. I actually did test different smartphones in stores on display and found a very efficient way of doing that: the good part of Samsungs was that they were capable of shooting 480fps or even 960fps in slo-mo, so it was very easy to see the flicker by simply pointing at screens in this mode.

Stuck on an iPhone 11 and came from a 7 Plus. I've been unable to use any OLED iPhone since the launch of the X. This year I was able to use 16 Pro Max for two days without any negative reactions until day 3. On this day my eye muscles were strained, the back of my eyes felt pinched and I had a headache. With the 16 Plus I felt negative effects within 10 minutes of use. Both were returned for refund. So from a very sensitive to PWM and dithering person, there is still no usable OLED iPhone or iPad. I also cannot use the Macbook Pro's. This is hell! These were my settings on the 16 Pro Max: Reduce motion. Limit frame rate (60hz). Dark mode off. True Tone off. 50% and above brightness. Face ID: Attention-Aware Features off. The least negative reaction I had was the iPhone 13 standard, which I was able to use for a week before my eyes felt exhausted and I started to get the motion sickness feeling and was burping alot. My work requires me to stare at a computer screen all day so I cannot tolerate or condone headaches which these OLED devices always end up triggering. My concern is always "what long term damage will I do to my eyes and brain if I even try to persevere". Cool app, but it pisses me off that I can't just have the lockscreen with the effects only and a different picture on the home screen, or effects on both screens!!. If you want different pictures than only the home screen will show the effects- no variation which is bizarre for such a creative app. If someone has some information I'm missing than I'd love to know, but I must've tried dozens of times.
