I conducted a test with the Varjo XR4, which is currently one of the best, if not the best, headsets available. I tested it within the DCS Combat Flight Simulator and encountered several issues. Nice headset..Maybe install some 'Kiwi' cable supports to your ceiling to take all the weight of the cables off the headset.

It is true that he fought for Germany at that time, but it is about his skills and achievements as a pilot, not about who he fought for during World War II. Just like the brilliant pilots on the Allied side, his abilities were what stood out, not his political stance. Iam going to make also RUclips movies on them later on.

why u fly in vr whit a sim pit? cause u see in game cockpit ?
That is why iam testing the xr4 and there is a video coming on mixed reality.. But for now the cocpit is 100% scale so the buttons and switches are at the same place as you see it.. And it looks great 😁
@@Dutch-bf109k4 just curious cause u are doing all this hard work on this sim pit should be nice if you can get the mixed reality working also. i am also flying in vr an just had my thoughts on an sim-pit cause of making it harder because u can not see the pit only the vr cockpit in dcs..
I do livestreams you can see me fly in the cocpit.. You see I don't have any problem finding everything.

I love to use my own voice. But my voice is not that clear in english.
How is everyone getting VR4s to play DCS with if it's currently only for commercial customers?
It is only for business now. The xr4 is going to be for everyone to buy in the future. And believe me it is worthy the wait.

@@mikewright2858 iam a business, but the one I got to test out, as Iam telling on the end.. I like to test the somnium vr1 also.. To be sure what I like more.. I will make a video of it.. If they lent me 1

Great video! At 75hz if you want to lock it lower, you'd be better off with 37.5, not 45. Best wishes.
I played around and it is now locked on 75.. And that works good.. Even put the focus on 1.4 in foveated
I have just bought the XR-4, I have the same issues with tracking, the Varjo head tracking process is maxing out 8(!) CPU cores on my 13900KF CPU, and if the room is not lit by daylight I get tracking issues. I probably need to install some very strong lights to avoid any tracking issues or do other visual change to my simpit. Other than that I'm happy with the visuals and comfort, I hope they can fix most of it with software/firmware updates as the visuals are so great. Another thing I noticed I didn't get any motion sickness in the XR-4.
You can play around with different tracking settings for tracking in the XR-4 Tweak tool (found in the Varjo folder, in the tweak tool subfolder). You can adjust the Tracking parameters and see if that affects tracking performance and performance.
@@Dutch-bf109k4 I did some more testing yesterday, I got DALL-E (OpenAI image generator) to make me some random patterns and I printed the patterns on A3 size paper and placed in my simpit, after that the tracking problem went away.
Perfect.. I had the same issue. And how do you like it?
@@Dutch-bf109k4 I installed some tracking paper with various geometries printed on an A3 paper, and placed it in my simpit directly in front of my face/XR-4. It fixed all tracking issues. 😊

Very nice! Make sure to use Varjo Foveated, it's stunning at 50PPD.
I was having stutters when looking 90 degrees left and right. Just out of curiosity I ramped the MAX Fps up to full right 300%. Stutters went away. I then start backing it down slowly until I had the lowest MAX FPS setting with no stutters. Give that a shot.
For me the stutters went away when I limmeded the fps in dcs.. I'll come back to this and test again. Thanks for your feedback.

I can't wait to watch the rest of this after work. The BF-109 is my favorite fighter from WWII even though it was on the opposing side. It truly revolutionized aircraft design. I'm going to pickup the MSFS 2020 one that was just released and I'd love to build a cockpit like you are some day. Though I would probably build one of a DeHavilland Dh-88 Comet (from the 1934 Air Race). :) Excellent craftsmanship!

Man that Cockpit is just awesome! You are truly passionate. How do you find the buttons on your keyboard while using these VR glasses?
Most are bindings on the cockpit panel.. There are 5 or 6 keyboard keys I need.. And there close together.. The best thing about the panel is that the distance to a switch the same is as what I see..

Dutch could you elaborate on why the 109 stalled out the way it did? I had that happen to me once and it was very strange. You mentioned something about propellor pitch. I always thought that because the 109 had fuel injection it wouldn’t run into issues with stalling as much as planes like the Spitfire, which had carbureted engines. Btw great video, I really enjoyed it! 🙂👍
When you are on manual proppitch and take off, throttle back there is no problem.. As you can see on start I was also getting a hard time to get speed.. So a throttled up.. The pitch was to low and rpm is going up.. It was still in the limits.. Then I climbed and went full power, over the rpm that the engine likes.. And kills the engine and locked up..

Hey man, what do you think is more enjoyable, DCS or IL2? The IL2 servers were amazing a few years ago but i dont see much action anymore. But idk how much better dcs really is

Il-2 has more maps, more planes, better performance, more players. DCS WW2 has more detailed, more realistic flight models and more detailed systems, clickable cockpits, more realistic sounds. Both are good, fun sims. I personally enjoy DCS more because it feels more like I'm flying a real plane with realistic physics, sounds and systems.

Nice setup. First time I see a WWII home cockpit 😀
I love playing DCS WW2 in VR as well. I use the INDEX, it has very nice FOV but resolution is a bit lacking. I use Logitech flight switch panel, G56 HOTAS, and logitech rudders. I fabricated and Welded my own HOTAS mounts. Did you make that awesome 109 dash, or purchase it? Nice video and lots of fun!
