Let's look at the inflationary environment of the U.S. economy. One must consider that from 1960 to 2024, the accumulative inflation has been about 959%. If this fact is alarming, we cannot do much about it, but we can keep a cool head and consider what can be done to combat this trend in the economic environment. We are not suggesting that the U.S. people flee the U.S. dollar altogether but rather consider how they can help reduce this loss in purchasing power to their wealth exposed to this environment. For us it is not about being for or against ESG, it is only about creating a portfolio that reflects our client's goals and priorities. Thank you for your comment. Indeed, there are many reasons that explain the devaluation of the US dollar. The BRICS countries certainly have the potential to further weaken the US dollar. The immense level of debt in the US and the tendency of the government to get rid of the debt ceiling weakens the credibility of the US economy and eventually the currency. There’s a report issued by the Bank of International Settlements that criticizes the careless spending of many governments. You mentioning the current recession is very well observed. As you might remember, the government, out of a sudden, changed the definition of a recession last year. We are not convinced that the economy is doing as good as some “experts” are claiming. In the current environment, gold and silver are certainly investments that make sense to look at closer. Especially, when taking into consideration the fact that many central banks increase their gold positions, which they already started doing last year. However, be aware of the volatility gold and particularly silver can show. If you, for any reason, need dollar, make sure you are not forced to sell your precious metals in a bad moment.

@@whvp Thank you very much for your reply. I have been advised by many friends internationally from many different countries to be careful with the precious metals. When things get crazy, knowing the true price will be difficult. Our recession is bad even if the government pretends everything is ok. I won't go into many specifics, but lay offs are significant. The bank failures have even hit me. My employment can not pay me for two months of work because their bank failed. I know so many people piecing together three and four "gig" jobs to keep the bills paid. Real employment is rare. It feels surreal to hear the president of my nation talk about how great the economy is when the price of propane doubled in two years. When I had a call form a neighbor asking if I could find infant formula for her son because he had nothing to eat. How is this economy okay? During the Soviet Union, the people knew that everything on the television was lies. The American people know also.

As mentioned in the video, from our perspective, a clear strategy and a “good” corporate governance are crucial for generating sustainable value for any company. These are both things that appear to be lacking at Credit Suisse. However, the current situation serves as an example of “bad” corporate governance and, therefore, how to not run a business. It is the reason we use the points mentioned in our video in the process of assessing whether an investment is suitable for our clients or not. While the current situation at Credit Suisse is unfortunate, it does not affect our investment decisions and recommendations.
