Multi-focal intraocular lens implantation is an increasingly popular way to restore vision after cataract surgery. There are, however, unhappy patients who experience degradation in contrast sensitivity function, believed to be due to the implant. If such patients also have vitreous opacities causing floaters, there is further degradation in contrast sensitivity. This study of 180 subjects foun...

How widely known/practiced is the concept of limited vitrectomy? Is it something that local eye surgeons here in Europe would know about and be able to carry out, or is it still something that most doctors have never heard of and would be unwilling and/or unable to perform? Does it require special additional training, or is it sufficient that a surgeon be aware of the concept and put it into practice by avoiding total vitrectomy?

Where do I find a doctor who has LOTS of experience in limited vitrectomy? My "snow globe " amount of floaters I believe was caused by my implants of premium IOLs. Did they cause them? I went to the Floater Doctor in Texas and multiple treatments helped but I still have a bunch left. Some large. Help me. The Floater Doctor can't laser the floaters in back 1/3 of vitreous, too close to retina. Help me. I'll go anywhere to get help.

I had emergency vetrectomy due to verteous haemorhage on left eye. The side benefit is floaters are gone. I authorized surgeon to remove cloudy lens if they find cataract during surgery & he did. Now my vision on left eye is improved with lens replacement, no cataract, floaters gone. I live in Singapore, most hospitals with eye clinic can perform the surgery.

I had cataract surgery almost 10 months ago. After my cataract surgery, i now have floaters on both by eyes. It's not so much the black mosquitoes moving around my field of vision, but In my case, I also have a bad cellophane type cloud that constantly moves over my field of vision. This is very distracting and affects my reading and focusing. I also get lots of glare when watching TV. Twice now as of last month, I have made mistakes while paying my bills. My Dr says it's a dangerous procedure and that I could lose my vision. I am very concerned whether to address this issue or not. The left eye is the worst, but my right eye is also affected. What should I do, as my Dr dismisses me because I have 20/20 vision while wearing glasses????? After I kept insisting in further care, he referred me to a Dr at Bascom Palmer. His comment was that the Dr he is referring me to, may or may NOT help surgically. I certainly do NOT want surgery, but I can not see due to the size of this cellophane cloud that obscure my vision. Please Advise!

Thank you for that video. I have floaters and they feel like a real curse. What is almost as bad as having them though is going in and complaining about them and they don't do anything to help. Nobody has ever done an ultrasound or test my contrast sensitivity. Even though I can tell it is low as white walls look like static now. And the offer no help other than "wear sunglasses more often" or "just think of them as your friends." It would help me a lot if it was treated as a serious problem and not just "part of the aging process"

I recently had a floaters only vitrectomy in my right eye in an attempt to improve the quality of my life. I developed PVD in one eye in early 2021, the second eye 7 months later - at the age of 45. My vitrectomy was successful 2.5 weeks ago. I was concerned but I could not continue to live with massive floaters in my eyes. I had no surgery issues. My eye pressure has increased, I’m on medication and under weekly observation. But I have no floaters in my right eye, where I had the vitrectomy. I’m very pleased so far. Very grateful for God and my eye surgeon in Australia. I’m glad I had the surgery. Praying that I don’t get a cataract. Very pleased so far.
