Upgrading Mac Mini, to edit videos, for you!!
Good stuff. Subscribed.
Leds silkscreen have a flat spot on the circle for the negative side, same as on the diode, it's the cathode side.
For the algorithm gods
I noticed you have a few solder joints that could of used a bit more solder and a moment longer under the soldering iron. I definitely agree with using leaded solder, I have a small stockpile.
Yeah... I tend to rush through these. Well that and ive only been doing this for 8 or 9 months so im not that good yet. Dont let my video personia fool you, I know I suck lol
@LetsMakeSt-ll2wx is no shame in learning and developing a new skill. The soldering kits you can get off ebay, Amazon and the such, are a great way to practice. That's how I started 7 years ago.
i like this shit.
I love how entertaining and still informative you are. Earned yourself a like and a subscriber 🫡
Thanks bud. I aim to please
so are the days of our lives
Someone gets it !
You should have at least a millon subs man, you got to be new, or the algorithm needs fixed
Thanks bro. Nicest comment ever. I guess I'm still new it's been about 8 months. I try I try
i once bought this off aliexpress, it was shit and 3 of the 4 less were already busted
I use the braid to remove as much solder as I can and then use the solder sucker.
Yidab gonna be increasing their security now...
Good job!
Thanks
When I was 15 or so, I got a COSMAC ELF 1802 single board micro computer kit. I spent a few hours putting that thing together, and soldered carefully the whole time. When I tried turning it on, it _almost_ worked. I could enter values using the push buttons, and they would display in the numeric led panel, and I could step through memory locations. But I couldn't get any programs to enter and run correctly. I never did figure out why that thing didn't work, so I stopped doing electronics entirely and switched to computer programming instead. When you write code and it doesn't work, you can step through it in a debugger and edit it with a text editor. That COSMAC ELF computer kit profoundly altered the course of my life. If I had gotten it to work, I might have become an electrical engineer instead of a computer scientist.
This is the one: ruclips.net/video/L4BPxfwXrqg/видео.html
its strange how one thing can affect our whole life. I had a similar thing. when I was around 19 or so I started working for an electrician. he was and old cranky man and was rough to work for. after about a month I split. never going back to being an electrician. till a few years later when I found hvac. I think about that all the time, how if that guy would have been a nicer guy and not a yeller, I would have learned to be an electrician. got in the union and probably retired already but now I'm old and poor! Stupid old people ruining our lives.
its too bad theu don't make kits like that anymore
So are the days of your soldering
Time is on your side.
Time time time… see what’s become of me
I counted 22 "time"s. Do I win the no prize?
Incorrect !!
time. time time time time time time time time..... WHAT IS TIME..........
Time is a fundamental concept that describes the continuous, irreversible progression of existence and events from the past, through the present, and into the future. It is a dimension in which events occur in a sequence and is used to measure durations, intervals, and the order of events. 🧐 But it is also the name of a really great Pink Floyd song. 😉
You make it like your ancient my dude….
Best one yet uncle Brian!!! Love and miss you little brother
You had to go and do that. I vote more story times. Pop was the shit
I did not expect to feel so many things watching you put together a bootleg gameboy.
You’re a gnome at heart!
Game Boy rocked in their day!
As a fellow geriatric who enjoys letting other people decide what she listens to, I would like you to know that the classic rock station here in NY still does Two For Tuesday.
The 70s soundtrack music is a nice touch!
It's k-billys super sounds of the 70's !
Video quality far surpasses subscribers, keep it going!
Thanks!!
I'm so glad you labeled the left and right hand. I wouldn't have known what they were otherwise.
Awesome job!!!!!

First!
Nice, thank you. What is the solder flux?
The brand is Essmetuin. It's an Amazon special. I would not recommend it unless your on a budget or you don't mind scrubbing the PCB with alcohol for a few minutes
@@LetsMakeSt-ll2wx Thank you. Corvetteguy50 recommends Kester 186 RMA Flux. Unfortunate for me that is not available in Australia.
I have found that the flux pen from IFixit works pretty good. www.ifixit.com/products/flux-pen-10ml-no-clean I use what I have cause I'm cheap and have 3 tubes left
@@LetsMakeSt-ll2wx Thank you.
Greetings from Australia. Good job making that, very neat work. I enjoyed watching and I liked the voice over with the component explanations. I have a similar clock, but because I wanted one with surface mounted leds I elected to buy it already built. One question if you don't mind. Why do you put on extra flux? Is it the type of solder you're using that needs it?
And a hearty "How you doing" from Brooklyn. Thanks for the compliments. That was something new I was tying for this video. The pictures of the components that is. As for the flux, honestly it's just something I saw when I was watching you tube videos on how to solder but I do notice that the solder does flow much better then using it.
@@LetsMakeSt-ll2wx Considering what's going on in some parts of the world, we're doing ok down here thankfully. Thanks for replying and the explanations. Of cou're right about flux making solder flow better, but with good rosin/flux cored solder it really shouldn't be necessary as long as you don't leave the heat on the joint too long. It's a bit strange that you had so much trouble with the USB port soldering. The extra flux on that should have made it easy to remove the bridges, as long as it's a good flux and you didn't have the iron loaded up with solder. Anyway, keep up the good work and I'll be looking forward to any other projects you make. 👍👍
Hi, first timer here and I enjoyed the video. It's a little fast but you can always use the settings to slow it down. I liked the way that you explain each of the components, as a fairly new to electronics hobbyist myself I am still learning a lot every day. Keep up the great work and I look forward to seeing more in the near future. I am subscriber 119. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the sub! As for the speed of the videos. I realize it's pretty fast, that is a good idea to slow it down I didn't realize you could do that. It might have helped me when I was watching these videos! I'm pretty new at this myself. Started In January. I've been trying to put out a video every two weeks for now as the summer is busy for me. I have some custom projects coming using micro controllers and a bunch of fun stuff. Hope to see and speak to you again.
If that goes missing don’t blame your sister. It was probably your mother.
Was looking forward to another XBox repair video. Never mind. You should try soLdering, it works much better (but you may have to leave your country to one that has an L in their alphabet LOL) Try soddering a single corner pin and then lining it up "best" and doing the opposite pin to hold it in place, speeds things up!
Potato potato it's all Greek to me
Funnily enough I say the same thing in my newest video about getting a corner pin. I also tried 2 neodymium magnets. It's works great! well if their strong enough
Nice dude, let's make sh#!t!
I wonder if the main chip is a micro-controller, and if it is, I would love to see the code. If you have it.
Unfortunately no, I do not. These kits basically come with no instructions. How great would it be if they did?
main chip is a STC15W408AS mcu. based on the Intel 8051
@@LetsMakeSt-ll2wx you will see how that clock works. How is measure the time and how the lights effect are made. I think it would be great.
I like it a lot.
Is there a reason for those DSP chips to be on that board?
Unfortunately... no this is a practice board and those chips have no purpose except to make the installer 5 years older
@@LetsMakeSt-ll2wx I alsp bet those chips might have been taken from scrap electronic circuit boards. I usually also take them of scrap pcbs just to practice smd soldering
Where in the heck did you learn how to solder SMT devices?
You tube😂. Is that an oh my God you're pretty good at this oh my God you're terrible at this kind of comment. I'm down for some constructive criticism. I've only been soldering for 6 months.
Good project. Needs a toggle switch so you don't have to unplug it and plug it back in again. Let's see, 31W at 115V is about .3A. You could use a mini-toggle, but you could also pick up a 6A/125V heavy duty marine toggle for under $6 bucks, and if it's worth doing, it's worth over doing.
Yes. That and I would like to add a goose neck duct. Like you said over engineering for the win
Awesome Video! I just stumbled upon your channel. Really cool stuff!!
Awesome, thank you!
I will now call it the hoof tip, thanks for that
The HOOF!
If you really want to hand solder, pre-solder the pads. Then remove 2/3rds of the solder, clean, and reflux them. Lead free solder creates more bridges and needs a higher temperature. Then you position your chip, use the iron to tack in pin 1 by heating the pad until the solder flows onto it, do the opposite corner to fix the chip, check alignment, then run round the rest of the pins, heating the pads, not the pins. You can move the iron in from the side onto the pin, making bridges far less likely. No chance of bending any of your pins too...
I think you need a better flux
Got to get that amtech flux!!
@@LetsMakeSt-ll2wx Now we’re talkin’
@@LetsMakeSt-ll2wx No need. The cheap chinese ripoff from AliExpress is just as good.
Let's appreciate the clean and tidy bench.
Thanks. I like a clean area. Makes things more efficient
Cheaper to buy one lol!
Patiently waiting for the next vid. Not really so make something else thanks
You could do the same thing with a 555 and 4017
meaning like I thought? you dont need both?
