A modest take on a timeless song. This song has been with me through many chapters of my life, a tender and lovely sentiment. I first fell in love with it about 20 years ago as a trombone player jammin' from a "Real Book" and listening to various interpretations. I knew the words, but only ever sang along in private spaces.
About 15 years ago, at an open mic in a hookah bar that no longer exists, it became the first song to hold (so tenderly) my voice. A friendly musician encouraged me to "try singing it" while they laid down the chords. I had never considered myself a singer before, but immediately felt at home.
