    Great video man, 10/10. I watched the movie yesterday and its gorgeous. Everything is so pretty and kind of human you know? I cried A LOT watching cause i understand all the things that the movie want us to feel and connect with. And you said a perfect thing, this movie is not for everyone, is for the people who can understand, feel and connect with all the characters and the stories in the movie. Do you think that in the final of the movie, tallulah comeback to their family? that final scene confused me a little bit, i cant tell if is a past scene or nah. Awesome movie and great video!

    The end of the movie is the best part of it: first of all it's very realistic, you have to see it in that context where divorce was not legal and it was not even a crime to kill your wife if she would cheat on you, so, what should she have done in such closed society where she couldn't even earn enough to provide for herself? run with that mechanic that could have revealed as bad as the husband? she decided to save her daughter giving her money for school instead, most important she understood that education was the key for the daughter to have a better life. 2nd: the movie is not about Delia, it's about all women and how the slow road to emancipation went through important steps like universal suffrage, thanks to which they could finally have their voice heard.

    • @Notquitemytempo
      @Notquitemytempo 5 месяцев назад

      I understand these points. What I meant by the ending not being a "win" it's made to be, is that Delia is seen by her husband in the crowd, he knows she voted against his will, he's seen the letter. So yes, her vote may have contributed towards the brighter future but I don't see her own personal story ending happily - I think she goes back home and still has to face the fury of the husband. In any case thanks for your comment!

    • @tanner293
      @tanner293 5 месяцев назад

      @@Notquitemytempo yeah, but that'S the power of the final... it's realism and it's focus on the political and social aspect of women emancipation who's realization does not depend on a men... Probably everybody would have expected her running away with the other man: cheesy happy end, yet another romantic movie, but no! she goes to vote, she proudly manifest her right to be an empowered woman, despite a violent husband who walks down the stairs looking down when she leaves the voting cabin. that's how she wins on her husband. also this emphasize on the fact that changes happen slowly and we need to constantly fight for them

    I love the movie - it's not one of the greats necessarily but it is very different to anything else in the British crime genre. Terence Stamp is the hero, and he is great. John Hurt plays a great hitman and Tim Roth is a fantastic burst of energy. It is more of a character study in a crime context than it is a crime thriller. It isn't particularly thrilling at any point (and it isn't trying to be). And the action scenes are short and brutal. The ending is unsatisfying in some ways, but I think what makes this movie so good is how realistic it seems - the ending is just depressingly inevitable. Yeah, it was shot in sunny Spain, but these are British gangsters, and they bring their British misery with them. There was never going to be a happy ending.

  • @josephupton3601

    I've seen this movie several times...including when it first came out. I love this movie. It's not for immature audiences. The slow pacing is vital in order to create the mood of the small village...in order to sympathize with the motives of the characters...and to show you the scenery in Ireland which is a major character in the movie. Granted that it is not everyone's cup of tea. But it TOWERS over the garbage coming out of Hollywood these days. I also saw "Dune II" recently...about the same length as "Ryan's Daughter". Dune II was good but I probably won't see it again. I could watch Ryan's Daughter once a month and never get bored.

      Thanks. I guess Inception is an example, at the time both the concept and the visuals were rather new and original. In any case though there's a large difference between being 100% original and 100% derivative, and I think Rebel Moon is an example of the latter. It's fine to take inspiration or reuse tropes as long as you do something interesting with it, whereas this film is simply... Boring. And I do dislike most of Snyder's output, especially more recent stuff, but I can typically list the specific reasons, not just because it's Zack Snyder (who seems like a decent fellow in interviews). Thanks for the comment mate 😊

    This is a movie almost as bad as dragon ball evolution. It bombed here in Mexico and Japan it's being taken off cinemas after just a week of release. It doesn't even come close to honor the anime or the manga. It buchered beloved characters and used elements from the Netflix series which we the fans hated.Globally so far It has made 5 million dollars out of the 60 millions they invested. This is a bad movie that wanted to win the US market ignoring the fans that love the franchise. It's a bad mix of Mortal Kombat with John wick and X men 3 including a scene copy pasted of Jean grey. I ended up buying all the classic series and animated movies online out of rage after seeing this garbage
