Legally Would have been the drivers fault if the rider is in fact going speed limit..but it’s still the riders fault for not being prepared and being too much of an unaware idiot for going past a line of parked cars with gaps in between, sounds like a teen or early 20s..even the speed limit is too fast for things like that, have to go below speed limit or slow down where there are gaps..

Yeah you shouldn’t be going that fast past stopped traffic. Doesn’t matter if you’re not speeding, the basic rule of the road is go with the flow of traffic and you were definitely going faster than everyone. It’s no different safety wise, than going 100 when traffic is going 70. You can’t react in time regardless of who is really at fault

The driver should have stopped before reaching your lane to verify that it was safe to go. I feel like this should be common sense but some are lacking it I guess. As someone said, if it was a car, then this would have been an accident and the van driver would 100% be at fault. Glad you were able to make it out safely.

Also agree with most of the comments. You should have been more cautious approaching that gap, but this car is also just blindly crossing the intersection. He would have gotten smoked if you were driving a car instead.

I ve heard most accidents are between 25 MPH - 40 MPH, I have a slow farm bike the Yamaha AG200, and even though it does top speed 45 MPH 😂, that scenario is still pretty scary, sometimes there is really nothing you could have done. In our street its basically impossible to go faster (Hello Costa Rica!!! WUUUUUUU!!!!!), but yeah people still die all the time getting hit at "slow" speeds. I am glad you are ok!!

Riding the speed limit might be legal, but riding to the conditions is so much more preferable - Ghandi or some shit.

It’s not going the speed limit that caused this near miss. It’s riding blind past a row of stopped cars. It’s a lesson worth reviewing for all riders because it doesn’t matter who is right or wrong if you are dead.

Amazing reactions! you seemingly were distracted (bobbing head to music) and you still pulled off one of the greatest hazard avoidances I've seen. However speed limit shouldn't be a target, you may of been going too fast for the conditions. (stationary queuing traffic)

I dunno dude, lot of things to pay attention to here. You were lucky but the cars were stopped for a reason man. I wouldn't blame the driver because you came out of nowhere to them. Slow down when other cars are stopped
