There are some Placebo performances I really dislike watching and this is definitely one. Molko is using heroin here. I have to watch it write a paper but otherwise I would never look at it. And this is 2001. Not 1998.

Was lucky to be part of the crowd at the concert in 2001, but didn't understand the meaning of this song at all back then. Brian : It is a love song really, you know, and it's... we don't write songs with radio play in mind, you know, that was a song that... there was quite a big tragedy in our lives that occurred while we were demoing this record before Christmas and it sort of had to come out. We just kind of vomited the song forward you know. And it's kind of a song about sort of two romances, a romance with a substance and a romance with a person and they both ended very, very tragically. Hence you know the very, very downbeat mood of the song. It's so, you know... the song, even the guitars sound druggy in that song, it's weird, and that wasn't really that purposeful, it just kind of came out that way.

Man why bring up all the drug shit every time yall see an emotional show. As an addict for over 20 years I can tell you music is where I get my biggest fix! No shot of heroin ever got me as high as some songs have. Plus the dope really holds you back from showing raw emotion, but alcohol plays a bigger part in letting it all out than drugs,while preforming live that is. Who knows what cats are on when they write some of this deep shit. But a fucked love can be just as motivating! Stay open!!!
