Dabuli is a 501 (C) 3 charity organization registered in the state of Washington. Dabuli aims to advance deeper understanding and strengthening of rich music, arts & cultural heritage of Nepal and the Himalayan region to build strong intercultural communities. It does this through research, performance, celebration, advocacy as well as through other relevant collaborative opportunities.
Paiya Gudan Lagya - A Deuda Song from Western Nepal
Join us as we travel to the far western region of Nepal with a beautiful Deudā song, traditionally performed during festivals like Gaurā Parva. The song "Paiya Gudan Lagya," tells the poignant story of a person journeying to a foreign land in search of a livelihood. Its lyrics vividly capture the emotions of leaving behind loved ones, the mountains, and rivers of home, and the isolation of life abroad. Originally collected and sung by Bhoj Raj Bhatta, this song resonates deeply with many.
