It absolutely was! Tony plucked out and paralleled the entire portion of the book to that of an extremist. Everytime Ta-Nehisi restated that he is against any country that discriminates solely on the basis of ethnicity, Tony frowned and shifted in his seat as if to say, "well what about us...". I've read that he has been reprimanded for that interview. I appreciate you taking the time to comment.

His book is a collection of essays reflecting on writing and his childhood, but MOST of his context was recalling what he witnessed during trips to Africa, South Carolina and Palestine. The racism, colonialism and his views of Palestine.

I have to say, books definitely have their pros and cons. The biggest con is that they take up tons of space. I do have an audible subscription so that I can listen to books on the go, but when I'm home, in my reading space, I prefer a tangible book. Somehow I can just connect better. You should definitely pop into one the next time you're out and about. The books are generally unorganized, only separated by hard cover and paperback in most cases, but there are definitely gems to be found. Tell you another little secret spot. You can shop for vintage books and book collections (comic, encyclopedia, etc) on the goodwill auction site. Check it out. Thanks for commenting. B.T.

Kita, my local Goodwill and Salvation Army stores have soooo many books! Everything from obsolete Encyclopedia sets, tons of children's books and surprisingly a bunch of old romance novels. You will be pleasantly surprised. Word of caution, the books are usually separated by hardcover and paperback, so there is absolutely no rhyme or reason to finding a specific genre. YOUVE GOT TO DIGGG!!! I will be reviewing Ta'Nehisi Coates, Water Dancer this week. But two of those books are in my TBR (To be Read) pile. Thank you for commenting. B.T.

Good Morning Lisa. Thanks for commenting. I'm still trying to find my lane as far as reviewing books without spoiling them for readers. My thought is simply to give the video enough substance to spark interest, but not give you the entire plot, twists or details that make the book worth buying. I watched a review last week and it truly spoiled the book for me. I'm still learning about volume levels. It is really tricky using premiere pro cc to edit. Thank you for watching the video and commenting. It's quite difficult to get better at creating videos without constructive input.

Thank you for responding, I appreciate it. I must admit this book was kind of slow and 2 dimensional and man, Jojo was getting on my nerves with her whinny self absorbed attitude. I expected a little more from a teen in this day and age. In retrospect why would I? I wanted to know what in the world was going on and weed through the teenage angst portion of the book and get to some of the facts, which is what lead me to your site. Spoilers do not matter too me, I will still watch the movie/TV show, or read/listen the book. This is why we come to these sites ...for prospective, talk about what was read....chew the fat so to speak. Those that view these types of videos listen for the words "spoiler alert" and people have the choice to continue. Thank you again for responding.

I believe Rachel (RH) dropped the ball in that she took the reader through this ENTIRE story feeling soooooo sorry for Jojo only to let you off the hook in the end and restore her virtue in every sense. At the same time, the young man who actually died violently didn't get more than a couple of reference sentences and fleeting thoughts except from Kevin, the heart-broken lover.
