Hello, The lock is not rechargeable, it contains a battery. We have experienced around 2 years with heavy usage before the lock gives you a prompt on the app to changer it. Changing it is simple. You need to use the app to unlock, you can set the app to Auto Unlock when you are within a certain range for example you are within 3 metres it will activate. You can also purchase a ‘clicker’ keyring and link it to the lock, this way you simply click the key fob and the lock will open, no app required. Yes you can easily remove the Bold lock and re-fit your old cylinder and use the old keys. I hope this helps. J - Ball Interiors :)

Yes, simply use the lock/unlock function on the app to activate it and turn the knob in the lock direction. Voila!

Hi, yes indeed, the internal knob will always lock/unlock the door. Green light shows the outside lock is active and can be used, it turns red when it becomes disabled (so the outside knob will just spin). I hope this is helpful. J - Ball Interiors

Hi. There is no mechanical key. The pin will work if the battery is dead. the battery does last a very log time (mine over 2 years before first low battery warning). The warning of low battery comes in plenty of time, I left it 3 months before actually changing it! It’s a damn good lock. I hope this helps. J - Ball Interiors

Hi pal, thanks for the question. Yes you can, you can set exactly how they access, using bluetooth, wireless or all + remote access. You can also get alerts every time they use the app to access the gate/garage door. Remote users do not get access to logs if not classed as admin. Hi Gavin, I suspect this could be possible if your garage/gate control unit has only one control, for example, one button that opens and closes when pressed. The garage doors we installed the Remootio units on required use of both relays (outputs) 1 for open, 1 for close so we needed to fit a receiver on each door. The sensor however simply lets the system know if the door is open or closed by using magnets, so I am unsure why your local seller would recomend this? It may be worth dropping Remootio an email direct, their tech support us superb and I am sure you will get a clearer answer. Kind regards - J - Ball Interiors

Hi Mulle, I think you may have misunderstood. The bold smart lock cannot be activated over wifi WITHOUT the bridge! I can 100% guarantee that the 'Bold Connect' (Bridge/big button) can and does activate the lock over wifi remotely, we use this function at our workshop office daily and home when necessary. Hi Stanbonsey, I am using it with the Apple Ultra watch daily, it works direct using bluetooth (when you are outside the property) it doesn't work with the remote lock meaning you cant give remote access to people through the watch. Hi Peter, Yes, if the door doesn't auto lock when closed, simply use the app or, as you leave, press the button on the internal handle which will give you time to close the door and turn the knob on the outside to lock. The time it is active for can be set in the app to your preferred number of seconds. I hope this helps. J - Ball Interiors

I'm thinking of adding this to my gate but I am curious if you can restrict access to certain users. Do you know if you can make it so certain users can only operate the gate via Bluetooth? Like if you had a customer routinely come on a property but don't want them to be able to open the gate while not on property. Also, can you restrict it so they can't see the gate log/other info?

Hi Kiran The USB cable is required if you cannot power the Remootio device from your gate panel. If you are unsure, contact Remootio direct, they will request photos of the panel and advise. If it can be powered from the gate board then simply snip the USB end off and use the cable. Kind regards, J - Ball Interiors

Hi Jacob, I am still unaware regarding the future add of an auto close function. The app will alert you that the door/gate has been left open so can be closed using the app however, it doesn't have any current function to auto close. The bell can be wired as a bell or an open/close button, it's as simple as activating this, once wired, in the app. Or, you can buy 2 and have one as an open and one as a bell! All existing remotes, keypads will still function, Remootio simply adds more remote functionality, it does not disable any existing hard wired or wireless functions. I hope this helps. You can be anywhere in the world when using the connect hub! TH hub connects the lock to the internet, so as long as the wifi is active at the location of the lock, the Bold Lock has true remote access. Kind regards - J - Ball Interiors

I’m thinking about getting these for use in my business. To add other people to be able to use it do I need to stand near the door or can it be done remotely?

@@thomasd2796 with Connect probably remotely, otherwise you need to be close to the unit due to BT.

Hi John, There are lot of locks on the market that work similar to the Bold Smart Lock however, we haven't tested them all. We found the Bold lock to be very functional, the app is very intuitive and easy to use, the security level is super high and with the addition of the wireless bridge for complete remote control with lock is easily one of the best. Hi Brendan, Having studied the app, I cant see a way to set this. You can set automations but at specific times/day to open and close, you can also set the alert time, but you can not set a timescale from an action meaning, do X so many second/minutes after I open or close the gate/garage door. This would be a great addition and I would assume it is possible to program, this device technically being a simple switch! Remootio are pretty good at responding to technical questions so maybe fire off an email to them and let me know what response you get. Kind regards J - Ball Interiors

Best review I've found online. Saw this at a friends house and been looking around for a thorough review. Great vid, but I had a few questions if that's okay. Have you got any thoughts about it 11 months later? How would you deal with other people that might need keys such as builders or a cleaner?

@@FlibbleBeck Good evening, thanks for the question. 11 months in, Have to say its still impresses me! We have had no issues, we have installed lots of these for our customers and no issues reported. Regarding your point of others needing keys such as builders, cleaners etc there are two ways to manage this. If you purchase the lock with the wifi bridge 'Big Button' then you can simply open the lock remotely, meaning, if they called and asked for access on the fly, you can open the door no matter you location. Otherwise, if you simply install the lock as is, ask them to download the app and you can send them a key, you have the ability to manage even element of this virtual key from time of access to expiry. They cannot forward access to anyone else, the digital inscription is amazing. If you need any more advice regarding the Bold Lock, please ask. Have a great 2023! Kind regards J - Ball Interiors

Thanks for the question. The lock has an unlock timer that can be set up to 120 seconds. It cannot be set to manual. I hope this helps. J

I have a gate that I'm thinking about adding this opener too. Can you add users but restrict them to only Bluetooth access? @@mickadooz562 You can restrict anyone to any type of connection. I asked about having an HTTPS option so people can just go to website and open it with a login but they never got back to me, so basically they have to download the app. They can't see any logs or info because they're not logged into your account. They're just using a guest key.

Thanks for the question. We haven't installed a Digigate system however, I have read about them. They are considerably more expensive than the Remootio system and work very similar. I believe the Digigate system has some cool additions RE the wifi antenna etc. The apps are pretty much identical, in fact Remootio have a few extra features that can be very useful. Remootio 3 currently doesn't support the hook up of a camera at present, it's something I know they are considering adding to the app in future, not sure how the linkage will work with current Remootio devices if at all. I would think that you could use its existing doorbell linkage to trigger the alert using a video doorbell. we would need to test this but it sounds possible. Yes, as with all digital locks, there are risks. The Yale locks are worse... The door we fitted it too, it isn't possible to reach from the side panel. Not perfect for everyone... And, on another note, we didn't get paid or gain any promotion from Bold for this video, it is purely an opinion piece! In fact BOLD haven't once thanked us for it... I mean, their comment 'put a cover on it' says it all...

@@ballinteriors I'm sure you could break your side panel and use a rod to reach. It's a massive flaw in my opinion and a serious downgrade on security for convenience. But thank you for the reply and although not a great product it was a very good video.

I don't see that as a big downside. If they're willing to risk the noise of breaking a window they can come IN through a window. right? Or am I misunderstanding you?

@@Yggdrasil42 exactly. This is not a flaw at all, if they already broke a window, it doesnt matter if they enter through the window or the door for a experienced thief at least.
