ECMO Critical Care Lifeline
Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) serves as a critical care lifeline for patients with severe cardiac or respiratory failure unresponsive to conventional treatments. This advanced technology temporarily takes over the function of the heart and lungs, oxygenating the blood and removing carbon dioxide externally. ECMO provides crucial support during severe illnesses, allowing time for the heart and lungs to recover. It is often used in cases of severe ARDS, cardiac arrest, or during complex surgeries. The integration of ECMO into critical care has significantly improved survival rates and outcomes for critically ill patients

There is a error in slides - the alkaosis break down - the weak acids should go DOWN not up. alb or po4 DOWN
During alkalosis,weak acid should go low,as well as unmeasured anion should also go low

in case 3 - initial part - Qe- 8500, Qd-6000 , Qr-2500: ( so Qe should be 8500ml/hr) - there is mismatch of 500ml- can you explain that ? video time- 1hr 15min
Where we try to decongest such pt, we land up in Metabolic acidosis... what to do then...
Metabolic acidosis means either their primary condition has deteriorated or they have been dried up to the extent that they are hypoperfusing. If you dry them up to the point where they are hypovolaemic but not hypoperfusing there will be metabolic alkalosis.
