I did this for a PPT presentation for a briefing. It was over the top with all of these extras. The higher ups were like wtf is this? This is a military briefing, not some college presentation. I was given a DOD template and told to follow that in the future. I spent hours gathering every ones input and putting it together. These guys may say what he did was impressive NOW, but I know how the NSW community was back then.... Jonny def was "THat guy". I remember seeing him over at LOGSU shortly after he graduated BUDs. One of the most unassuming people in that line of work you'd ever see. 1997 to 2006, Coronado produced the smartest, most courageous, and legendary SEALs ever.

Hazing is outdated and the tendency to go overboard is too prevalent and common place. Amongst other reasons, this is why quality, honorable, and young Americans don't signing up for the military. They are seeing through the BS. I rather take my skillets elsewhere, than be hazed by a bunch of guys I don't know, don't yet care about. Same dumb shit as being "jumped" into a gang.

I hate it when people thank God for some kind of unlikely deliverance. What follows is that God killed and maimed all of the people that got killed and maimed. If Navy SEALs had God to depend on, why train? Why go through BUDs? Why use plate carriers, night vision, and all of the other wildly expensive but necessary stuff they use? Because God helps those who help themselves? Well.. that's another way of saying God doesn't exist.

Jonny is pushing it. He may be blown out of the sky or die landing on Mars. You never know what's gonna happen to him. I am afraid that he could be killed during a mission. He survived Ramadi. He went through so many close calls yet lived. I believe he will meet his destiny, soon. If that happens, at least he will have died doing what he loved best.

Fun fact: The M79 grenade launcher had already been long replaced by the M203. However, armories pulled out everything including the old stuff from the backrooms and handed it all out. An assortment of iron sighted M14's and M79 popped up and were used by some guys. The M79 was far superior to the M203 in terms of accuracy and even range. However, it weighed almost as much as an M16a4 and you either went out with a pistol or had to juggle an M16 over your shoulder should you run out of grenades or needed to clear a building. Despite those limitations (which is why the M203 was developed in the first place), a LOT of guys would grab every M79 they could get their hands on.
