    Plants do not release oxygen as has been misrepresented in science literature for over 150 years. PLANTS BURN THEIR OWN SUGARS. They digest those sugars for energy. Digesting means that they oxidize the sugars. Plants have no lungs. Plants cannot extract oxygen from the atmosphere. Plants cannot digest their sugars for energy unless plants keep the oxygen they produce along with they sugars they produce. Twenty years ago, reports emerged claiming that the Amazon rain forest was the 'the lungs of the Earth' and concluded that if the rain forest were destroyed, atmospheric oxygen content would fall rapidly. President Clinton immediately authorized massive US investment in destroying the Amazon forest, and within fifteen years about 40% of the Amazon forest was clear cut and burned away. Oxygen levels did not change. Of the 40% which was destroyed, about half of that has now grown back. And by the way, the Amazon rain forest emits MORE co2 than o2.

    Why does raising the temperature allow more solutes to be added?

    • @ms.heathermoser9104
      @ms.heathermoser9104 4 года назад

      Suzanne Tjepkema because the amount of solute that can be dissolved depends on the temperature of the solution. Higher temp = faster molecular motion = more particle collisions = greater solubility. Does that help?

    Am l right to conclude that the temperature allows for the maximised volume of the solution to dissolve more solute

    • @ms.heathermoser9104
      @ms.heathermoser9104 4 года назад

      Hmmmmm. I think volume has less to do with it than molecular motion. Solubility changes with temperature largely due to increased molecular motion which leads to more “collisions” between solvent and solute particles. As for what role volume plays, I’d have to ask a better chemist! (Great question though!)
