You gotta try another Nam game called Men of Valor, its a FPS and its awesome. Everytime you die they print out a story of how you died its really got a ton of cool features. Including this crazy guy on your team who screams tons of shit to the enemy while fighting lol. Check it out!

I installed Vietcong again after 20 years through abandonware, had a great time, the atmosphere still holds up pretty good. And I also got trapped by my squad in the exact same bunker tunnel as you showed in the vid :')

I really want you to compare these to Men of Valor

Man. I played Vietcong so much. I still have the original game/box. Had its bugs but such an immersive Vietnam shooter. Lot of love went into making that one

Vietcong was amazing! It was always pretty buggy, but they really pulled off the setting better than any other game I've played before or since.

Vietcong was such a great game and had a pretty vibrant multiplayer science for a few years after release. The sequel didn't quite live up to it for sure

Great review. I've played VC when it was out and this was the first game that you could be hiding behind cover and aiming lets you peek over. Also the spacial sound was totally new and ahead of its time. One thing that stood out was the soundtrack. The music sounded perfect period but was brand new. I've played BF and COD, but the best balanced map I've ever played in a tactical multiplayer shooter is "stream" in Vietcong. Capture the flag was the thing and a full server with 2x16 players was some tough business. Thanks for bringing the memories back.

I wish we'd get a new Vietnam FPS with a good storyline. Im honestly surprised there isnt more considering all the WWII FPS games out there.

There is a hilariously bad-seeming game that seems like a joke at first, but it copies vietcongs gameplay system, and it ended up being such dumb fun that i beat the whole thing. its called MARINE HEAVY GUNNER. Its impossible on medium so play it on easy and its just dumb fun from start to finish. They even copy vietcongs long spiderhole sequence (but you dont gotta crouch so its better). I beat the whole thing in about 5 hours and its a lot of just dumb fun

There was a problem with feeding if you loaded the full 20 rounds, that's why it was sometimes underloaded to improve reliability. Some guys load 28 rounds to this day, though I've never had any issues with 30 round mags

Here's a litlle bit of a story : I started ac3 with the pal/eu version in 2004 and got my jaw to the floor when i learn later about the JAP version, and all the branche . Didn't know jap so i left the storie behind, until i try the trad by Projectnemo. love the game before and love it even more with the og content and think it need a remaster by fan or nanco. and to people who crash when mission complete is on screen it's a sign of good fortune lol

You may not know this, but in Shellshock when you round up the villagers you can also stop the escaping villager by just running to him and they'll surrender peacefully. But, as you said it can be darker if you choose to shoot him.

Unfortunately I play Vietcong: purple haze, the PS2 version that takes away the boot camp section and like half the missions, also no cutscenes so u loose the story

stealth worked fine for me in Shellshock and they didnt all crowd when i was discovered. could be a difficulty thing cuz i played on easy

20 Years later, I still remember PTSD inducing moments from Vietcong. That night mission when you emerged from the tunnel with basically no ammo and had to scavenge from dead enemies to survive is one of my all time best gaming experiences

“Vietcong” for me; the closest you’ll get to the feel of the ground war in Vietnam. I got most of the expansion packs and even the sequel.
