Denis, thank you for your patience over the past two weeks. Your email guidance and this video helped me to find the issue. 👍👍 Mike T.
nomatter what i do it wont work....
Please reach out for help in the community forum at: forum.digirig.net/ Please provide the details of what you attempted and what results you got.
I just got the Digirig Mobile and everything has worked well until I go to auto tune and it tries 10 times and then comes back “no signal”. I did the test where I looped AOUT to AIN and ran the WJST-Tune to get a tone and when I had computer set to “m😅motor/listen” - I could hear the tone so I think the hardware all the way to the K1 jack is okay… Any suggestions? 73 de KZ4JN
If you hear the audio while monitoring through "listen", the radio keys up and you can hear your signal with another radio tuned to the frequency then all all the hardware is performing as expected. You can rule out RF link quality by taking your station to where the remote station is. Also check that the remote station is set for Vara and not packet.
Do you have a different link? I keep getting an "access denied" error just trying to enter the site.
I retested the link and it works for me in regular Chrome window and in incognito. For good measure I've added the link to the video description.
Update: Apparently if you use Firefox the site blocks your entire IP address, I had to use chrome on my phone disconnected from WiFi to get the site to not block me. Seems like like a poorly set up website if I can't just access it using any other web browser.
Extremely useful info - thank you so much !
Will this work on radios with the 6pin din cable?
Yes, this takes care of the interface to the computing device. You can use it with any transceiver side cable including MiniDin6.
Very helpful, but I try to send but nothing happen
Please share the screenshots of your config in the Digirig forum and we'll get it all sorted out.
Well done!!! Going to try this myself as soon as I can. Thank you.

Hi... Can I become your official dealer for India?
Thank you for your interest in Digirig gear. Please submit your business enquiry via the Digirig website.
Most cell phones have moved to usb-c. Is there a solution for this ? I'll be ordering one of these cables anyways as I have older tablets but a usb-c option would be great. Thanks for not resting on your laurels, I love my digirig !
Yes, I'm working on USB-C cable interface. At the time of wiring it's a prototype, but the final product will be available at the same URL: digirig.net/product/digirig-lite/
Thanks for your work I could use one like this.
It's now available at: digirig.net/product/vox-ptt-cable-for-smartphones/
dont you check??
@digirig , this is useless since plugging into the radio will disable mic & speaker , so you dont receive nor arew you able to do any voice calls ... it is not reralistic that you wouild have to carry 2 radios , 1 for aprs or any data , and 1 for voice ... a connection or mod to the radio should be made that does not disable mic & speaker ... lets say your circuit might work but it is not practical in real life
Yes, with any external TNC you are pretty much expected to dedicate the radio to digital/packet for the time of operation. Having mic available for voice will not do you any good on APRS frequency.
My digirig v5, can't remember version but it's an early one, one of the connectors inside for the headphone jack has broken off, i'm too blind to resolder it. So i'm excited for this version, it's exactly what I've been wanting. Hoping the jacks will be tougher. Thanks for doing what you do. 73 de K1BQY
Thank you for your continued interest and support. Re. your Digirig 1.5: email me through the website. I'll get your old Digirig fixed.
@@digirig I've been debating doing so, now I will for sure. Thank you!
Please share the circuit diagram
Why?
looking forward to production version!
How is this technicaly different from the AIOC board? Other than you have a TRRC jack like it should have had. Love that you are not stopping at DigiRig. We also need a low cost hardware TNC with 9600 and faster OTA speeds if you have time!
Some notable differences: - This is not transceiver specific and can be used with any radio because - Simpler implementation doesn't require power from radio or computing device and - Doesn't require drivers or specific software support, also - If continues to test well, this will be available at scale as a ready-to-go solution in a month or so Thank you for your support and encouragement. 73 de K0TX
@@digirig Thank you for all your hard work. You make the community a better place.
Which version of the DigiRig is needed for the Yaesu VX6R?
Digirig rev. 1.6 and later have the same cable pinouts. Your HT doesn't use Digirig's serial port so it will work with any configuration of the interface.
@@digirig so I can order an RS232 for another application and then use that for my Yaesu? If so, that's great news and prevents me from needing two!
@@gregrush6570 That is correct. More on the topic here: digirig.net/selecting-digirig-configuration/
Very helpful. Thanks
Stupid question here, but what’s the purpose of hooking up a vhf/uhf to wsjtx
That's a reasonable question considering that (multi-user) FT8 is not practical over FM. The reason WSJT-X is used for troubleshooting here is because it is one of the simplest apps to install and configure. With that we can get to PTT test with lowest chances of getting stuck on the way. Once PTT is confirmed working from WSJT-X we can move to using more involved software setup.
My digi rig is on its way. Hope to try this soon.
Good deal ape
I must say, this has been the most helpful video. Just maybe I'll be able to get my Digirig up and running today. thx
VERY HELPFUL!!
Thanks for making this fairly easy to adjust. I wish these changes could been done with jumpers. That would be more convenient.
No Brazil existe algum representante para comercialização?
Not at this time, but orders from digirig.net are shipped worldwide.
Chapter your videos.
Can you operate Echolink with a DigiRig? No one seems to know an answer!
Yes, you can. Please see forum.digirig.net/t/digirig-and-echolink/181/3
I use DigiRig several times a week with VaraFM…using my FT3d or FT-65. Denis has great cables and the DigiRig common configuration works great for me. Information he provides here is exactly the way I use it. Be sure to open squelch and adjust VU meter using the volume knob on your radio. It works!
Thank you for the video. It was definitely helpful.
hi i got the digirig from you for my baofeng, but just got an yaesu ft-897 with autotuner that is using the CAT port, do you have av cable that is compatible with my settup?
You'll need this cable: digirig.net/product/yaesu-ft-8xx-cords-for-digirig-mobile/ If you tuner has a pass-through serial port then you connect radio's 8 pin MiniDin to the tuner and tuner's 8 pin MiniDin labeled "computer" to Digirig. Audio cable goes directly between Digirig and radio.
Will the Digirig allow VARA FM and Winlink connection with a Yeasu FT5D? If so, are the necessary cables available? If you can point me towards a tutorial with that set up, I would appreciate it. Thanks.
Yes, you can use your Yaesu HT for VARA FM with this cable: digirig.net/product/yaesu-ht-cable-for-digirig-mobile/ The setup instructions are pretty much the same as in this video. General instructions can be found here: digirig.net/getting-started-with-digirig-mobile/
@@digirig Thank you for the reply! I’ll be buying one soon.
I hosed my new Dell Windows 10 laptop sound drivers trying to setup Digirig. I had no sound output on my laptop except from the USB port with either the Digirig or Signalink USB plugged in. I've been so frustrated that I haven't been doing digital when I used to lead two digital sessesions every week. It seemed like every time I would get the Digirig working with one of the ham apps like FLDIGI Windows would later repair itself and the driver I manually installed would get lost by Windows. The driver issue is CRAP!
Sounds like you experienced issues related to defaults assignment. Each time you plug in a new sound card device or existing sound card in the different USB port, make sure to review the settings as shown in this video. This includes reassigning the defaults to your computer's normal speaker and mic as well as adjusting audio settings in the digital modes software. If you need further help, please post the question in the forum and we'll look at the particulars.
I had similar issues running Echolink on Windows10. Every time it forced a system update. It would screw with my sound card settings. Somehow? It has finally stayed correct!
Great tips and tricks Denis! Thanks!
unable to download FLRIG to my Window 10 laptop. tried several times. the one time it did try i got an error message with a yellow triangle
Hello.. Thanks for the great tutorial. Unfortunately, your version of Vara FM is outdated and has a different interface, starting with the PTT item in the Settings menu and items therein. I am using APRSIS32 and can not get the radio to PTT. So far, no joy... Suggestions? Thnx. Cole VA7APZ
You must be looking at some other software. I've just fresh installed VARA FM v4.2.9 (VARA for FM transceivers) and it uses the same settings as shown in the video.
You might be looking at VARA HF instead of VARA FM. If your third menu selection under Settings is Waterfall then that is VARA HF. In VARA HF, the PTT is actually in the Winlink Express VARA HF window under Settings -> Radio Setup.
Thank you, most helpful!
Good video! Can you use a Digirig to work with the Echolink program, to run in Sysop mode?
Yes, you can use Digirig with any sound-card-based digital modes software.
You couldn’t zoom in any closer with all of that screen real estate?
Dennis, For my Kenwood install, I need the attenuation. May I simply do the attenuation modification by itself?? It's not contingent on any other mode correct? I need only cut one trace on the ATT pads. De N8MKR
Answered my own question Dennis. It worked like a champ. I did the attenuator mod and now my received levels are in proper range.
@@johnwilson9303 It worked for me too with my Alinco DR-135
Configured my TX-500 with the correct Digirig and WSJT and all worked FB with FT8...thanks!

I don't see you doing any better!

What was the purpose of resetting the UV-5R at the beginning?
This is to confirm that there are no required setting changes that were made off the camera. You don't have to reset yours, but if you are having difficulties I would recommend it.
@@digirig thanks, that makes sense
It would be nice to have some dip switches here instead
I get this request time to time. The introduction of switches will inevitably increase size/cost of the interface and introduce the possibility of damaging the equipment when configuration is switched back-and-forth. At the price which is a fraction of other digital modes interfaces you can have a dedicated Digirig for each of your radios and not worry about flipping switches or reconnecting cables.
@@digirigI don't think the DigiRig is significantly cheaper than other options. It's roughly the price of a DRA box which is comparable.
@@JohnForTheWin I must be missing something. The cheapest assembled DRA I can find with metal enclosure is $100 and none of the models are CAT capable. So you can get 2 Digirig interfaces for the same money and if you fall back to DRA-level functionality then you will not even need to touch the serial port configuration in the first place.
@@digirig You're right. the DRA-30 is more expensive than I remember. The DigiRig is my favorite and is what I'm using for all my radios going forward. I have a SignaLink and a DRA-70 and I prefer the simplicity of the DigiRig. I wish attenuation could be enabled via jumper or switch (I don't believe the cost would be an issue), but I'll live with this inconvenience. I like the DigiRig quality of support, I like the straightforward purchase process and cable selection, and I like that the device doesn't have knobs and buttons. LED's would be nice though. I'd pay more to have an LED indicator to show the signal level going in and coming out of the box.
