The Goodrick Almanacs have been made available through Modern Guitar Harmony's website. All 3 volumes plus a whole lot more... consider giving them a donation if you can. The Almanacs have a lifetime worth of study or more. Cheers.
Yup! I was interviewed by those folks. Great site!
@@joshkguitar An interview... that sounds great. Anything by or to do with Mick Goodrick is worth checking out imho. You're so fortunate to have studied with him. Best regards from Montreal. Cheers!
Thank you for this, his system is great for opening up the fret board.
Agreed! Should I make more of this content? It's been a while now, and there's a Modern Harmony discord group of Mick students and we share our different interpretations on the exercise that have been super fun to try. Seeing how you analyze it vs how someone else's brain sees it is really nice for understanding different approaches, so I could emulate some of what I've seen there if folks are interested in that kind of thing 🤔
Groove ❤
That's pretty wild to think about, I was aware of harmonics and how they affect muting (muting on harmonics will produce noise) but the fact that this same geometry affects note volume... Not really. Thanks for the lesson, need more such metaphysical mastery thoughts! :)
Thanks for the comment! The funny thing is: I'm not sure it has anything to do w the harmonics bc the rest of the notes on the harmonic series don't change the volume. Perhaps it's just too subtle for us to hear!
Where did you get 1964 from? This is why no one should count on yourube for info.
It's explained in the video. The serial registered on the website as 64 at the time this vid was made. Upon further inspection found to be estimated somewhere between 72-75, but no exact answer.
Yes. Cool
Thanks
You you play brilliantly, what a great version of Thomas theme. I've just bought a little Casio keyboard and would love to learn the chords for this
Dude imagine being as cool as this in your 40s. Roommates. Shitty music. Getting drunk till 4 am. These dudes are living the life
There are DOZENS of us
Nice
Thanks 🎵
Man, everyone is killing it once again. That is some dirty guitar work around the 23 minute mark followed up by some great keyboards.
Thanks so much!! Yeah I'm gonna try and get more of this for the channel. If you're ever out in Easton PA on a Tuesday night, this is the normal thing. Always a little bit of a different line up, but everyone crushes.
Homie next time you review a guitar...plug it in....
That's in part 2. This literally just to show what comes to your door.
❤
Dernier cadeau de mon père 1994 et de ma jumelle avant sa mort l'année dernière ...
Love telecaster ❤❤ nice playing....
Thanks so much! I should do an update. This guitar has been pimped! (Well kinda haha)
Great set fellas.
Much thanks!
Sounds great gentlemen!!
Thanks Dan!
Cool!
Love your style dude. Subbed
Thanks so much and welcome to the channel!
Shredding so nice your aura is showing.
Beautiful
Thanks! 🙏
Like your playing! Not sure which split blades you have, but they sound good. I get the feeling anything above vintage may need 300-500k pots.
Thanks! These are the 250k pots. But I believe the "fat" switch changes the number *not sure by how much
That's some funky bass sounding great as always my brother! Love you from Connecticut
Much thanks 😊 🙏
Valuable and awesome video!
Thanks!!
Yes, by way of the octave you should be able to track down that note
BAD ASS
Sounds great. Who is on drums? Bass and drums sound thicccc
Josh Kanusky and Dan Evans They crushed, and the sound guy was really good
Hey Josh, got any gigs on Wednesday? They have an opening at Johnny's Bagle's little spot at Musikfest. Good for solo or something small. 8 setup. 9 to 11. Tips only.
Hey Ric! May need some more details..... Shoot me a text or email?
@@joshkguitar sent a message on your lesson page on website.
You guys crushed it at the Match
Thanks! Yeah that was a suuper fun set
Always fantastic!
Thanks!!

💯
What i wanna know is how does the 25.5 inch scale feel. Usually the minimum you should go is 26.5, and the ideal scale is 27-28 inch.
Tbh it feels fine, but setting it up correct is key I'm personally a fan of smaller scale lengths in general too (something feels snappier to me?) That said, I don't really djent or anything w it. Mostly just use for the extended range (or at least when I do I'm pretty sure it's incorrect lol)
@@joshkguitar appreciate the feedback, cause im looking to get my first 8 string and saw that guitar on amazon and thought “this is too good for the price”
Yeah, I would say it's a good 1st 8 string. I didn't know if I'd be able to handle 8 strings so I def wanted to go cheap, and this perfectly fits that bill. I will def also say that I would like to upgrade to a more quality instrument at some point now that I more fully understand some of the ins and outs of playing an extended range. But yeah, great first 8 string for curious players.
@@joshkguitar cool, thank you
This is great thankss.. now i can start with this (and im still not good slow) but i can start practicing it from now.. thank you.. you play so smoothly.. looks super easy but its hard😅
Glad to help! Thanks for the question
Those little comping bits make this 100x more useful than a rote approach just moving through triads. Listen to the note movement THEN form chords and their interplay. Nice work!
Thanks! Glad to help!

why can j not find an easy way how danny gatton tuned his guitar? just like they say srv has half step down.. what does danny gatton? and not like f on the telephone and then a to 4th fret and thenlow back.. i dont get that kind of talk or is it standart tuning what i dont think.. but cant find some easy way about how he did tune
Not totally sure how to answer this 100% but I think Danny was in standard tuning most of the time.
@@joshkguitar I had replied but it was very vague so I delete and try again, I thought I read something that he only used 3rd and 4rd strings with his pick and his 3 other fingers the 1st and 2th strings and he didnt use the others?.. but if you say he use standart tuning . then what I say here dont make sense at all.. my english is not the best is not my first language so maybe its super vague... I ordered a thumbpick today because i cant play flat pick and use the other fingers together at the same time and hold the pick straight. so I hope the thumbpick will be a good choice to practice this.. thanks for your reply.. I just have to practice some more in standart tuning then..
Aah gotcha. Sounds like you're asking more about picking technique? But yes, generally the pick is on the bottom strings and fingers on the top. Check out Travis picking for what I mean: ruclips.net/video/2b-Kzu_2qHQ/видео.htmlsi=TiqN7BGMcEY5xGVk Where it gets kinda tricky tho, is that it's not a pattern that catches all the Gatton sounds. Just gets a bearing. You have to start BREAKING those rules with intention, plus also master blues style, harmony, rhythm and *yes even counterpoint* to get into the Gatton territory.
That said it never hurts to just take 1 lick and study
Thumb picks are cool. Lots of guys getting this sound use them but personally I can't play so great w them. To each their own!
Something every solo musician needs to see and understand. Great stuff.
Many thanks...More lessons friend🙏🙏🙏
Will do! Thanks for the comment 😊 *there's also lots of older lesson content on this channel if you haven't seen yet.

Is he related to Seve Kimock?
Yup that's John Kimock (Steve's son)
@joshkguitar That's what I figured. Right on brother.
