Coming back to this song after a while, and I honestly really warmed up to it. While I unfortunately could never enjoy MANIA as a whole (even songs like Last of the Real Ones and Hold Me Tight or Don't, which I like, ultimately feel like weaker imitations of songs from SRAR and AB/AP to me), I do think this song specifically really was an outlier. The rest of MANIA felt like a really safe, bland album only really made more memorable due to Patrick's signature vocals and Pete's unique lyrics (though I'd argue that wasn't always a good thing, tracks like SFRMT and Wilson are undermined by some of the sillier lyric choices. I'm sorry, but lyrical gems like "Are you smelling that shit, are you smelling that shit" and "I'll stop wearing black when they make a darker color" only work when the rest of the song is better than boring). So to go from those tracks to a song as explosive and experimental as Young and Menace is strange. I can definitely understand why the track is so divisive, even I didn't like it at first. But in hindsight, it's easily FOB's most interesting track and an experiment that I think really works, and it only makes me wonder how different things could have been if the rest of MANIA was even half as ambitious. I think many dislike MANIA for being too different from FOB's other albums, but honestly I wish it was more different. Young and Menace shows a level of creativity that felt sorely missing from post-Folie a Deux FOB music (and I say this as someone who really loves AB/AP, SMfS, and especially SRAR). idk if i really had a point with this whole comment, I just really wanted to express how much I like this song and how much it frustrates me that it represents what could have been
