What's up fellow race car people!! 2024 was the year of the fabricated housing...actually that's probably not 100% true, but I did finish up my housings for production! I'm pretty happy with them! Here is a long ass video about them. I cover how they are made, the fixture I made to assembly them, the options you can select. I covered many of the suspension parts I make that can go with these as...

This video is long but covers many features and specific options you'll need to know to get the proper plate. I finished editing this video and realized there is even more info to cover!! I left out the clevis that adapts the standard style shock mount into an S10 type plate. More ideas fo...
Chevy 2 complete rear suspension overview.

I have covered the Chevy 2 rear suspension a couple times now. It's very popular so I figured I would do a little show and tell on a complete install we just finished. The customer already had the housing, we shortened it to 45.5" housing end to housing end for a total wheel mount surface of 50.5". Add brake rotors and some 15x10 wheels with a 5" backspace and we will probably have to add a sma...

Everything Rod Ends

What's up RUclips!! I wanted to put together some info on the measuring and identifying rod ends (often called heim joints). This video digs into some methods of measuring, traction bar system size joints, irregular joints, and some pointers on how the rod ends might be identified using their AN part number. I started off thinking the video would be 10-15 mins long, it ended up being 30...who r...

Ive been looking at adding a high-end line of parts to my line-up. I've been looking at building a heavy-duty ARB that was also light enough to not be silly. The tube length is 36"...which is wayyyyy longer then 95% of the applications out there. I'll be working on getting this thing install and tested soon enough. Look for a Pro-Series parts line-up at funkhouerracecars.com in the future.

Title says it all! Some details about the sliders, hardware overview, and I went ahead and stuck the short install video in there as well. I also put the short video about pressing the bushings into the spring as well. I'd say this is a word vomit of instructions, mumbling, and hopefully a few answered questions with any luck...lol Enjoy ladies and gents!
Funkhouser Race Cars universal Chassis Mounter Billet Anti Roll Bar

What wall thickness on the axle tubes?
3.5" od, .250 wall
A bit off topic, but is “Funkhouser” your name or is it a play on words since you fab rear end housings? The reason I ask is my Granny’s name was Funkhouser.
Yeah, my last name is Funkhouser. Ive been told it was spelled different prior to our arrival in WW2...Im not sure if thats true or not. Was that a nickname?? or?
Cool, maybe we’re related. No my nickname growing up is offensive and I wouldn’t want to subject you or your viewers.

Bitchen work Mattt!
Absolutely listened to the whole thing. Lots of little tid tib wisdom. Thanks
thanks buddy!
What would the price difference be in the tog vs mig option? Any difference other than the weld process? Curious what would be the advantage of a CM rear end other than weight?
Hey buddy! I think MIG vs TIG would be something like 250$ savings...from a pure time to weld standpoint. As for 4130 vs MS, the weight savings only comes from using thinner wall thickness. The weight of the raw material is the basically the same. The tensile strength advatage from 4130 would make.a stronger part, otherwise thats about it. I would still use ER70-S2 to weld it all the together. The real big benefit with 4130 parts is if you heat treat them. They get harder and wayyy stronger. But there will be post process things that need to happen after the parts are heat treated, and you'll need to use proper filler etc etc. It can get out of control price wise. Ive seen some cars running 4.1x with a 3.0" mild steel fabricated housing...non-floater as well...so I feel like where most of my customers live, mild steel makes sense. I can make these from 4130, but the price will reflect.
I was just curious on the CM lol…. Can’t afford that. I would personally be interested in the mug welded housing from a budget standpoint. I’m building the budget S10 and want it nice but mig makes sense for me I think. I was the one that called yesterday on the s10 cage. Love watching your videos and they’re very informative!!
@@RogerBell-k1wI think a mig option would be perfect buddy!! I probably underrate the MIG welded housing just because of my bias towards TIG...but for what you want to do...that would be perfect! This def helps me on my desicion wether or not to offer a MIG version
Question for you. Floor tin work on the top or the bottom? Seems easier on the bottom and makes a belly pan. Con, seems a lot to bang your feet on...thinking for a drag n drive car.
100% We always tin the bottom. Mild steel for the firewall and under the driver silicone bronzed in. For the inside of the car, we build platform for the pedals. Its adjustable forward and back, and is pretty comfortable for your feet to rest. thanks for the comment
@@funkhouserracecars anywhere to see pictures of that setup
@@TheMiningCabinet email me at matt@funkhouserracecars.com and I'll get you some pics. Im working on developing a weld-it-yourself footrest/pedal assembly where the pivot is mounted on needle bearings that are fit in billet aluminum housings. Ill gladly share what I have so far. Thanks!!
Fantastic work
thanks buddy!
Can we weld this kit in ?
Yes sir, no issue with welding it in. I made it bolt in for the ease.
Looks like some nice parts but i had to mute the video at 2:30 since a lot of what you were saying was drown out by the music, too annoying to try to listen to you over music. Again looks like some good parts though
fair enough. I didnt have a mic for all of the shots in this video. There was a bunch of back ground noise i was trying to dull in the edit. Ill see if I can fix it and re-upload it. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
GOAT Built has a cool tube chassis jeep style runner.
Drew makes some cool stuff for sure. I currently have an ibex chassis car. Has leading and trailing arms a big block chevy with a 91mm turbo, bypasses and all the rest.
@@funkhouserracecars nice! I posted that comment before I realized you're doing an independent front suspension. Not sure if the ibex comes with an IFS option? The one you're doing here looks strong as hell!
@@jeffallen3382no worries! to my knowledge, no ifs options from GB. But maybe hes workin on it...never know. Ive done 4 solid axle cars now, this was the natural progression for me. I love building stuff!! and learning everything i can on the way
nice work! Looking forward to see this thing rip!
me too!!!
do a 68-72 Nova setup next
Im working on it right now. I can only move the spring in a tiny bit at the front without massive overhaul. I already build a 1.75" offset slider for the back that helps to make that additional tire clearance for the back of the spring.
@@funkhouserracecars thank you for your reply.
excellent
Wooooo!!! Let’s get it. I’m going to be ordering soon for my wagon!
Matt , have you designed a kit for the Obs , 99-04, Cat eye yet ? i know the shop was working on a obs a few months ago and i suck with socials to keep up . your doing good man keep it up . ive seen some chatter in texas about the stuff you're putting out and its all good ! im hoping to get started in the next year on a pickup. {might Even be a dentside ferd !} Its more than likely gonna a cat eye . Love it man Keep Em' vids coming .
Yes sir! I have the 99-06 single cab cage. The obs we are doing is a 3/4 chassis deal, so the cage info I have doesn't include the factory floor. I should have gotten the info beforehand. Im working on a complete rear suspension kit for the obs as well. I saved the back section of the frame so I could design the parts.
Sick ! Now I want a box nova again ! 😂
Awesome work guys!!!
thanks buddy!
Would square tubing be better for the frame connectors vs the tube connectors?
@@riggedandjimmiedgarage7268 Good evening...I would say either will work just fine. I like round tube for weight savings and general ascetics. If square is easier for you, that would be fine in my view. The goal of the frame connector is to transfer the force from the tire through the spring into the box.
@@funkhouserracecars id agree with the round tube and weight savings. I think the connectors need to be welded to the floor on these cars as mine is very flimsy and i couldn't really tell a difference with the frame connectors bolted on in place.
I love the idea of this video but we can't see half of what you're talking about the cameras like way too far away from the things you're trying to show us and I really wanted to know.
I 100% agree. I shot each style plate- meaning shock location with each variation of options. Im going to post each one in the links on my website and edit them all together as well for supplemental information. I found as I made this video I wanted to add even more info to what I had presented...but I was at 20 mins already. Each video I hope to make better than the last...and add good information as well. Thanks for the comment, I appreciate you taking the time to write it.
@@funkhouserracecars and I'm glad you agree because I want to put together a leaf spring car and I want to be one of them guys that sets a record so the more I can learn the better for me and who's ever parts I use, keep up the good work......

Wonder if they would fit a 2 gen Camaro with Calvert setup.

Super nice pieces!! But… why not hang the anti roll from two heim joints? We do this on our 900hp road race cars.
can you clarify how you hang them from rod ends?? Are you using the ball as the bearing? Im totally interested if you get a chance. Thanks !

I didnt see it up on your website yet, How much for this, do you have it for 66-67 novas? Or only gen 1s?

When will these be on the website?
eventually yes...the tack welded stock suspesion unit is on there. i need to split it up to have some addrional options
So what if I send a file to you, could you cut and bend it, plus ship it? For a cost of coarse.
