    ok, the user will be working moms and dads who are going to work by keeping their children in the daycare or pre-school. They are facing problems regarding managing home food regularly due to other housework pressures and office loads. So I can think of home delivery options where they can get hygiene home-based food to their doorstep. In my country, there is huge pressure of cooking for the women all the time no matter she is a housewife or office going lady. I would like to be supplier of fresh deshi curries for their lunch or dinner.

    Charu, thanks for your discussion on this important topic but I remained as confused as I was ...here is why: many of my dear students, friends and others come to talk to me, share their feelings - I often just listen, try to help them navigate the journey and sometimes ask them to seek professional help. I do not know if telling that (seeking help) could hurt their feelings or not. I sometimes feel extremely sad myself not being able to process it. You asked the people around, not to ask depressed people to go for workout, or give advice - what is the best thing to do? Would love to hear from you. nova

    • @bluerubine
      @bluerubine 4 года назад

      Dear Nova Ma'm, a very valid point! My explanation is also long. Here goes: . Scenario 1: I talk to a good friend of mine, she listens to me and gives me tips what I can do about it. I listen to her. But one day my depression is so bad that I cannot cross the threshold to do simple groceries, I order take away food or don't eat at all. I am very ashamed of not being able to listen to her and I don't take her calls. Then when I'm better again, I'm still pretty much filled up with guilt and shame, because I assume that my friend is disappointed in me or she thinks that I was ignoring her. And I don't have the courage to return her calls. This is another extra burden on the top of my depression. . Scenario 2: I talk to a good friend of mine, she listens to me. But she also has her own life and may be once in a while she becomes irritated and I notice that on her tone and just crawl back into my shell, believing "No body cares". Whereas my friend is also a human and also has her other obligations and priorities which do not have to be necessarily me. But being in a vulnerable state, I do not see that. . Scenario 3: I talk to a good friend and she tells me to do this and that. Somehow I don't follow through and then she tells me something like , "C'mon, buckle up, go out or concentrate on your studies." I take that as a condescending tone and shut down totally. . In all these cases, the "she" actually understands depression and wants to help me! There are cases where people don't even acknowledge depression and come up with solutions, "Shara din pore pore ghumao, eshob dhong koro keno?" This is extremely harmful! . Also, when the good friend of mine is listening to all my sadness, sorrows and problems, I'm also risking her to be exposed to negativity and in turn making herself depressive. . I want to stress the point that people with depressive disorder need professional help, because they can provide them with help without being emotionally attached with them and well! They are professionals! . You also toned the very point that seeking professional help is a taboo in our Bangladesh society! Because you don't know if they are hurt if you tell them to go see a psychologist or a psychiatrist. Exactly this is where we need to work on! Seeking professional help is nothing to be ashamed of! You can listen to them, speak to them and ask how they are doing/feeling. But suggesting a remedy? That is actually a professional's job. If we talk to someone with heart problem, we shouldn't tell them to have "Thankuni patar rosh", we tell them to see a cardiologist. And human brain is even more complex than the heart. . Does that make sense? What you’re doing is absolutely amazing. But please, don’t bring yourself down while doing it. It's actually impossible to explain all these points within 4-5 minutes. I just wanted to take the 4-5 minutes to raise awareness. I'm really glad that you asked and I could write it down here. Again, I still am no expert. These are solely my own experience of 16 years living with depression. Good thing is, it's manageable! Now at this point, I know how to live with this disease. Now, I am able to some point to control it rather than let it control me.
