You guys should look into the harbor freight motorcycle lift table. It’s a pretty good deal if you can use the 20% off coupon, only real upgraded needs is the harbor freight front wheel chuck, now I can put my road glide or my Honda monkey on the table by myself, I worked on bikes on the ground for years, just recently finally got a lift table, and son of a bitch should’ve done it years ago

LOUD PIPES SAVE LIVES….Yeah sure! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 This is a bit long but I hope to give some light into the BS idea that loud pipes saves lives. I have spent while some time studying sound. Not only how sound travels, but about hearing protection and motorcycling. Most people would be shocked at noise level measurement I’ve taken and how lousy hearing protection is. Anyway, there are tons of ignorant motorcyclists who actually believe that loud pipes save lives. Someone made a t-shirt about it and I love it. It says something like, “if you think that loud pipes saves lives, imagine what learning how to ride that thing could do.” Haha! People need to get out of their their heads that loud pipes save lives. It’s a a fantasy! You can find more truth in a Disney kids movie than in that myth. Not long ago a study out of Europe proved just that. I was a paramedic for over ten years and now a patrol officer. I can tell you that a large percentage of people never see us or HEAR us coming. Even with sirens blasting at 120 decibels and lights flashing. Car manufactures have made their cars quieter and quieter, plus lots of people have the radio playing and are distracted by phones, kids, and other BS. But there is more than that. Those who think that loud pipes save lives, are ignorant about the physics of sound. If what you want is for people in front of you to hear you coming, then you better change the direction your exhaust pipes points to. Make them face forward. Why? Well, if you go stand near a railroad crossing as the train approaches, you will notice how loud the train’s airhorns sound when it’s coming towards you, compared to when it passes you and is heading away. It’s called the doppler effect. But there is more to it. People can be lost in their own thoughts and not be listening out for motorcycles. In many car vs motorcycle accidents the car driver claims that they never saw or HEARD the motorcyclist coming. They never saw it because they were not consciously looking for motorcycles, and they never heard it because they were never listening for motorcycles. Can’t blame them, what do motorcycles sound like? Not all sound like cruisers. How about small bikes? Some sound more like sewing machines. You may think that motorcycle exhaust sounds is easy to pick among a sea of noise in a busy highway, but that is because you are a motorcyclist. I have come to realize that people have what I call selective hearing too. One of the reasons plenty of people walking on railroad tracks have been hit by trains. Train accident survivors claim that they never heard it coming. Really? A train horn can be heard thousands of feet away, in the middle of a quiet night for miles, and they never heard it? Oh no they did, but their brain did not connect the dots. It’s not that they didn’t hear the train, but they were not hearing out for trains. They heard the train and their brain realized that it was the horn of a train, but their brain did not make the connection between the horn and a train coming straight at him. Distracted by their thoughts they forgot that they were walking on an area that put them in the direct path of a train. Sadly it happened to someone I knew. How much attention people put on sounds around them varies a lot, but I have noticed that people who live in noisy areas, like big cities, can become “blind” to noises around them. Or better yet, their brains become good at filtering out what they need to listen to, while ignoring the rest. Like when you are at a loud restaurant and you hear to what the people you are talking to are saying while what everyone else is saying becomes background noise. If a sound annoys you or you are exposed to it frequently, you brain can program itself to ignore it. The same way you can become what they call “nose blind” if you become exposed to the same smell long enough. To be honest, I hate the sound of loud bikes, and the vast majority of people who are not bikers hate it too. Guys may think they look cool, but us ladies find them annoying. Or like a friend of mine told me, “them poor things must suffer from bad cases of the small dick syndrome.” I personally think that they are nothing but attention whores. May be their mommies either gave them too much attention when growing up, or not enough. Good luck with your noise theory, and may the noise gods keep you safe.

  • @fixento

The Transalp 750 is a road bike and it's a big adventure bike that too big for the majority of beginners. It has too much HP, the throttle by wire is quicky, quick shifter/blipper will be confusing. The seat height of 33.7, and a higher center of gravity makes it easier to drop the bike. Lower cc/hp road bikes like cruisers, standard bikes, or smaller adventure bikes are best suited. You may gain experience by dropping a bike, but becoming proficient with less effort and intimidation on a smaller bike will build your confidence.

I chose a 2024 Transalp as my first bike. While I had to go into it with both eyes open, I figured I wasn't ultimately bothered by it being a 750 because I'm not a young, risk-taking adrenaline junkie who was going to let the power get me in trouble. And while a lighter bike would obviously be easier to handle and learn on, the Transalp carries its weight low, I'm committed to learning and I'm a larger stature guy. A smaller, lighter dual sport would have had a flatter, safer learning curve but I wanted a bike I wouldn't grow out of and could comfortably take on longer sport touring trips as well as do some light offroading adventure touring on. And I don't think I'll ever need to upgrade to anything bigger or in a different style.

I disagree. It all depends on the rider. I started on a Tenere-700 and have been just fine. Then again I'm 6'2" so my feet touch the ground fine. I've also been driving trucks for the better part of a decade so my discipline is more refined than the average car driver. I think it's possible, but on a case by case basis.
