stories from the slow travel journey - Mauritian nomadic writer & online business owner
I've spent almost two decades living a international lifestyle - either working abroad as an immigrant/expat or working online or from home. In 2019, shortly after getting married to my beloved, we took off for indefinite travel. We haven't returned since and are still on the road. Here, I get real with the slow travel nomadic life - it has its highs and lows just like any other lifestyle you choose.
The way I travel and live is slowly, making room for an intimate relationship with God, my marriage, and managing chronic health conditions,. All while running an online business. Through my videos, I hope to inspire you to travel through life at a pace and rhythm that suits you. Because ultimately, no matter your speed, there's meaning and beauty to behold in the journey.

This YouTube channel: I'm back after being absent but things will be different now
I know, I know, I have been missing from RUclips for over half a year, which is far too long. In this video, I share why (stages of growth and transitions) and the way forward.
This channel started about five years ago, with the aim of sharing about the anti-hustle work mode - slow living in the workplace and in your personal life. However, I changed. As people, we grow, we change, we become more of who God created us to be.
And so, this channel too is in the process of evolving.
I hope you stay subscribed and come along for the journey, but if you feel like this isn't for you, I also understand.
The reality is I have complete clarity about who I am and what I'd like to share on this channel...

Living in Barbados under the Welcome Stamp Barbados (digital nomad visa), we had the opportunity to explore the island in-depth. One of the places we enjoyed a lot was the Flower Forest, a gem of a garden in Barbados. In this video, you'll come along with my husband and I to the Flower Forest in Barbados. We will drive from our nomad nest to there, driving through tiny villages and peaceful cou...

We’re grateful of the opportunity to live and work online from Gozo, Malta after successfully applying for the Nomad Residence Permit (a type of digital nomad visa). In this video, I’m sharing what it’s really like to live and work online from Gozo. This is a typical day - nothing super eventful or exciting; it’s an ordinary day. It’s meant to show you what it’s like to work online from a forei...

Wait, you guys didn't rent a house or apartment? How much did the hotels cost?
Go to serbia instead. Serbia much stronger🇷🇸

Hi! I’m considering moving to Malta for remote work, but I’m concerned about power outages or internet stability. Have you experienced any issues, and do you think Malta is reliable for remote work?
How did Barbados compare to your home island?
Why does she looks like my 2022 kitty that died but she was older and Inam from albania😭
Very nice
🚬🇦🇱
Excellent! Thanks.
Great to see you Sean & Bea! Nice relaxing video - loved the close up on the ants particularly and those sandwiches ;-)
Missed this comment somehow - thank you for taking the time to watch and share your thoughts. Always good to hear from you!
hehe, what was the name of the shop?
Don’t remember 😅 I left fast
Aww, it's nice to see your day to day, I love it. I'm now curious about the climate in Malta now. It seems that winter doesn't look harsh and fits us island people 🥰
It reminds me a lot of Mauritius. I loved the watching the daily life of the insects, millipede and snails. Lovely and nice. I also love the pottery, the beautiful plates, that is a beautiful souvenir to use at home 💕
There are many similarities with both of these tropical islands. Same amount of mosquitoes 😅! There are also several differences. Maybe I could address this for my next video?
@@BeaMangar oh my god yes! I would love to learn more about the bajan culture as well
As always Bea xxx
Thinking of going back sometime. Barbados is truly special, and we know that you know 😊
@@BeaMangar we would love to go back, let us know if you do.😃x
Wonderful place 🌿🌿🌿
It really is! A pleasure to walk through
Hi Bea. Thanks for the video. My Mom was born in Caversham and I have a lot of memories from visiting that and Reading as a child. Joanne and I are now in France (very hot weather!) and are here until end October when we will fly down to Cape Town. Hope you and Sean are well. Love I and and Joanne. x
Always wonderful to hear from you. We LOVE Caversham - what a lovely place to be born! Have a safe journey to my fave place 🇿🇦. Love and kisses to you both. From Sean and I.
We love it Bea. Especially the sounds of the insects. Hope the wild fires are not affecting Corfu. I have emailed you but I know you don't pick those up very often. Anyway, we will continue to follow yours and Sean's journey. We will be in France for 2 months and then South Africa for 3. All starting beginning of September, so if you are anywhere close let us know. xx Ian & Joanne
Ich bin auch albanisch aber meine mutter und Vater kommen aus kosovo
Hallo! Danke 🎉. Albania ist sehr schön 🇦🇱
You seem like nice people but unfortunately most people in Mauritius are not friendly, perhaps they can learn from the Bajans. We are one people! 💚
I'm in albanya!

Hey Bea. Thanks for your latest video. We wait for them to be uploaded. Not sure if you remember us, Ian and Joanne, from Barbados 2 years ago at Sugar Cane. We got engaged there and are getting married over here in the USA on 15 July. Anyway, we are going to do some slow travelling afterwards for 6 to 9 months and wondering where we can go that has a time zone close to UK. Any recommendations with reasonable cost of living? Where are you guys now? Be good to meet you both again sometime. Ian x
Hi Ian and Joanne, of course I remember you and your beautiful love story. Congratulations for the upcoming wedding. We wish you lots of happiness as you continue to build your life à deux. Currently we are in Vlorë and road-tripping all the way down the coast of Albania. Depends what you’re after - will you be working remotely or is it an extended honeymoon? Some countries you might consider are Malta (English speaking, ease of getting around and meeting people), Albania (affordable cost of living with a wonderful life quality - beaches, nice hotels, large accommodation and friendly people, delicious food, great internet in big cities), Montenegro, so the Balkans or some places in Eastern Europe like Latvia, Poland, Romania. Do let us know if you come that side (you can find my email on website in the video description, let’s keep in touch). ❤ thanks so much for watching the videos and commenting - it helps grow my channel.
Nice video 😊💚
Thanks so much ❤
Very interesting place to visit and superb video. Thank you for sharing 👍👍
Happy you enjoyed the visit and video. Thanks for watching 😊
Good video and thanks for sharing 😊
Stoked that you liked it!
How is it going?, Bea~ Enjoyed! what a useful video-work!))
So overjoyed that you think so! Thanks for your kind comment x
thats an order, you must give food
haha it was looking all fierce! cat boss 😄
As a Bajan I am happy that you and your husband enjoyed my island Barbados please visit again. My only thing is it seemed like you guys didn’t make any connections with the locals which is actually the bonus part of visiting Barbados apart from our food and beaches of course
Hello lovely Bajan! I'm so pleased you watched the video. We certainly enjoyed every bit of life on your beautiful island and also made some wonderful local connections but respect their privacy too much to share them here.
Lovely touring Barbados via your video and listening to your experiences about staying there for a longer period of time. I visited years ago, but my stay was very short, unfortunately. Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it! Hope you'll get to visit again and hopefully soak in a bit more of the Bajan beauty this time around.
l am glad you love my country 🎉,hope all goes well for you always ❤
Such kind words, Monica 💕 thank you. Malta is very special and beautiful 😍
Great content, thank you
So glad you like this video 😊 thanks for watching and taking time to comment.
Hi there! Bajan here. I really enjoyed this video and am pleased that you had such a great time in my country! I visited Mauritius years ago and loved it. Welcome back anytime!
How wonderful to hear you visited Mauritius! They are quite different even though they’re both tropical, right? We miss Barbados so much (and the fishcakes and coucou and souse!)
Lovely video, thank you for sharing. I have a couple questions.. how did you find the weather in November? What car rental company do you recommend? Blessings, Angela
So glad you enjoyed the video Angela. We used Top Car Rentals aa they had a special rate for Welcome Stampers. They’re great. Another company I’d recommend is Drive-A-Matic.
@@BeaMangar thank you so much,.a blessed weekend to you
Many blessings ❤
Hi how safe is Barbados?
Hi Ken, Barbados is considered one of the safest countries to visit in the Caribbean. We found it to be safe, had no issues. As long as you exercise caution as you would anywhere, there should be no issues.
@@BeaMangaras a local you are correct there is some crime but not enough to make it unsafe so you are right
Wow no Breadfruit,, I thought you all would say something about it since that fruit came from your side of the world. But then you all probably don't know.>>
You’re right to bring up the fantastic breadfruit. It’s something we grew up with too in Mauritius (8,000 miles + away from Barbados). We’ve also enjoyed ackee, figs, plantains and a lot more than didn’t feature in this short video. All the delicious local food we ate is a lot to condense in a mere 15 mins or so video I’m afraid 😅. But it gives us more reason to create more videos on BIM. Speaking of which, we recently published a followup video when our 3 months’ visit turned into 1 year. Hope you check it out. ❤
Thank you for this nice video and Barbados is on my wish list 🤞🤞
It’s a pleasure, hope you visit soon. 😊
Your video makes me think of the movie easy, pray and love. That movie made me fall in love with Italy and now your video does to. I will definitely visit Florence and I love buying and cooking in this way as well. Also la passeggiata is a very good thing, I’m now thinking of having a passegiata after work. Another content that I love 🧡✨
So glad you were able to feel like you travelled to Italy with me and that you’re already taking parts of the beautiful Italian culture in your day. Enjoy your passegiatta 😊
Exactly the way I want to discover countries not only in a tourist perspective but the day-to-day as well. Love your videos and show the other way of visiting a country 🧡✨
Awesome! Thank you, it’s really that - the everyday of nomad living.
Love how you can both live and enjoy the island not only for holidays but also while working. It provides a healthy environment to feel at peace and for your self-development, both personal and professional growth. I love it and it’s definitely on my bucket list to visit Barbados. The welcome stamp is also as you said risk safe, there’s nothing to lose. The video is very lovely and beautiful! Well done guys ✨
Overjoyed to read your kind and supportive comments. If you do visit, I know you’ll no doubt love it.
Great video👍 Beautiful places with nice views 😍Thanks
Many thanks! 🤗 glad you liked it
I enjoyed watching your experience Well done , I live in Uk
How wonderful! We love the U.K too.
I understand that you are both Mauritians. So why you didn't set up your business here rather than Barbados.
Great question - my 1st company was set up in Mauritius. We don’t have any business in Barbados - this visa allowed us to work remotely (income and work sourced outside of Caribbean). Hope that makes sense 😊
Absolutely love this. Thanks for the informative content. You're living the dream!
Glad you enjoy it! Thanks for watching, Tim. Hope it brought back some fun memories for you! 😊
Thank you for your nice video. Really interesting to understand living in Barbados. Looking forward to seeing new videos
Happy you liked it and that it gave you a better understanding about life on this tropical island.
Interesting, unfortunately mostly a selfie here, so much to show from Malta, esp. from a tourist's point of view......
We mention in the video that we aren’t tourists. This video isn’t about top things to do in Malta or best things, it’s about daily mundane life (nomadic living) - so cooking, shopping for veggies, enjoying local culture and soaking in what we like (yes we are boring 😅 so our videos aren’t for everyone).
Florence is a beautiful city. My wife and I had such a great time there. The people are very friendly and easy going. No rushing, no concerns.
Couldn’t agree more! The slower pace is wonderful. Glad you and your wife enjoyed Florence.
Encouraging
Glad it encourages you 😊
Hi Guys you make me so excited hearing all these beautiful things about one of my favorite islands, ironically i am from St. Vincent, the island with the Volcano you guys spoke about, but living in the US, i once lived in Barbados, where i attended Police College, but always wanted to come back.I think you guys have made a very good choice.
So happy you watched our video on Barbados. Hope you can visit your fave island soon.
Great video thanks
Glad you enjoyed it, Tim!
