    * READ this before doing business here * I worked there for 15 months. I am actually the guy in the back at the end of the video working. 3 things I want to point out about the way Max operates his business that you should be aware of. 1. If you are selling your equipment, have a reasonable price that your equipment is taking into account its condition. Max often misleads customers working out his financial margins when buying and selling. He only pays his in store technician half of what he says the technician charges him per hour. Max pockets that other half. Max is pretty fair buying things overall but that part was a lie that he always tell customers if the equipment needs some reconditioning to be resold on his floor. He should just tell the customer he needs to make money and take responsiblity for that then lie about it. Its silly. 2. With servicing your equipment. Max very often mis-quotes the time it takes to fix things. If it gets delayed he puts the blame on having only 1 technician or that its hard getting parts etc. When these reasons dont ever change, he still gives people the wrong expectation. When customers called upset over their equipment taking too long, myself and other staff were put in the position to often give excuses to customers when the reason was most of the time, Max set the wrong expectation. This was constant issue in the store. Yet almost every customer was given "it will take a few weeks" knowing it could be months on end. During the holidays, there was like 2 months straight where not one customers serviced piece was worked on. Why? Cause he only has 1 in store tech. He also reconditions the ones to be sold. The sales floor stocked with products takes precedent over peoples getting their fixed. Customers got so frustrated many came in and got their equipment back. Not becauze someone else could do it local (because there really isnt much competition) it was just cause they were mistold. Max was actually honest with those customers and told they need to understand and allow him to make money during rhe holiday as he gets paid more to sell than fix. At least he was honest. Many of these situations were much much worse and caused arguements with customers. The strange thing is when the customer would come in asking whats taking so long, Max would get so angry and a couple times went to the back and gave the persons equipment back and said never come back. I have seen some bad customer service in my life but Max took the cake. Note: If you were are within your 14 day return policy after buying something and something went wrong, the equipment would go to the back of the cue. Which i thought was always odd. Wouldnt u want to save your sale? No. It goes to the back of the line more often than not. Go figure that one out. I guess he thinks he already has your money so you can wait even longer for it. I helped one lady who returned inside her 14 days for a bad amp. The amp turned out to be DOA and coulsnt be fixed. The customer (who was out of state), called abour 5 months later wondering what happened. Max changed his policy that day to store credit. He told me to call her back and tell her that. I wasnt able to reach her. So when she called back a day later I handed the phone to Max. I was so tired of covering for his equipment service fix debacles. I overheard him blame us for not getting the messages tjta she called. Thats a perfect example of the bullshit we dealt with because of how he runs his business. Just expect to wait. Especially if its an amplifier or a full refurbish. Speakers and Cassette decks are taken away by a 3rd person to be fixed at their house (which he doesnt tell customers generally). We were never given those techs phone numbers so we could check on status when they were done. We were told its not their primary job so dont bug them. The equioment would just show up fixed occasionally. The service side is not very organized at all. Its a joke and Max often goes back and forth about closing that side of the business. When we had suggestions to make it better, it led to arguments including a young lady so frustrated with customers calling and she taking the complaints, she walked off the job that day. 3. Max purposely instructed me to misgrade records condition. Records was my responsibility. From cleaning, organizing, shipping, pricing etc. Max would blame my grading on why sales were slow. He said I should not grade anything less than VG+. He said 9 times out of 10 that nobody will complain. If they do , give them a partial refund. This did not sit well with my integrity and ultimately was 1 of the 3 reasons I walked off the job leaving my key and not saying anything to Max. Because the grading is off on records, the prices are often higher than the condition asks. Make your own judgement but check the record and sleeve to make sure you are happy. (Max always told me nobody buys a record for the sleeve). Go figure that one. Smh The 2nd reason that led me to leave was he kept threating if I made a mistake working with him that it would come out my pay. I told myself if he ever does that, Im leaving on the spot. I made a record shipping error to the wrong customer. The mistake would have cost $15. He threatened very angerly that it was coming out my pay. He helped the next customer. I left and never have been back. All 4 people that worked there when I was working there also left on the spot because of Max's my way or the highway attitude. He is down right mean. (This happened the same week he threw my keyboard against rhe wall because he was frustrated with it not connecting to bluetooth). 1 word when it comes to mind when I think of Max is: unprofessional. On so many levels. Hes like a used car salesman. Max is the type of person to brag a out owning a small business and then to other customers he would play the victim of "Im just a small business owner". I could go and on with story after story when it comes to these 3 parts of his business. I stayed working there becuase I like working with records and equipment and the customers were great. Working with Max (who gave me a .33 cent raise at a year anniversary after I did the job of 2 people for 8 of the 12 months because other people quit) was aweful. His attitude and rudeness was the 3rd reason that was constant building to where I just couldnt work next to him. I am pretty good at letting bad energy and situations roll of me and just focus on my work. Thats ehat helped me be there for 14 months. Max is Volitale. Like working next to a volcano that could blow up any second. Most of the time it wasnt that you did anything wrong. It just wasnt done his way. This owner deserves to work for himself. And by himself. Btw....i heard his long time 1 technician quit. (Who is a great technician btw). Thats not good news. Regardless of my personal opnion. Be aware of those 3 examples of the business.

    The Klipsch Forte II is an excellent speaker. That's why they've kept making the Forte's for 40 years.. I have more high end speakers in my home theater and they are truly accurate but when I want to sit down and listen to something new or old, I always listen with the Klipsch Forte II's. They thrill. If someone is looking for flaws, maybe they'll find some, but I don't hear them. I've been around the block in the audio world and these speakers never fail to impress, like I'm always hearing the music for the first time. And for me, that's where it's at. Covers on.

    Lack mids and highs. Old technology and the wooden box creates too mich vibrations,. hence creating a major disproportionnal and distorted bass. It simly has the sound of the oldies at least 30 years ago!! These speakers have many problems with their woofers that blow easily, with their tweeters and with an unstable pitch, especially in the mids.

    I love my Tilley LTM5 hat. It was expensive, but I’ve never had a hat that fits me so perfectly. In moderately warm weather, it makes my head sweat more, but on a scorching 90 degree day with full sun it makes my head feel 20 degrees cooler by keeping the sun off me and once the crown starts soaking up sweat it evaporates so fast it cools my head. It’s quite the amazing hat. Most hats make my head hotter, but this one makes it cooler.

    Steve here, in Northeast PA. Nice receiver and system and interesting demo. At 1:41 you say that you have all the controls set at neutral but that it has "all the bass you want" However, the "LOUDNESS" button is "in", which boosts both the bass and treble. I enjoy your videos, especially the one you made a few months ago showing the Nat King Cole Reader's Digest box set. Hats off to Reader's Digest and RCA's awesome quality that went into that set (and many, many others since the late 1950s). Keep up the good work.

    • @allwheelsdown5646

      You got me there. That loudness button is always on for my taste. I saw someone explain the purpose for that button is really meant to help boost bass and mids at low volume playing. That makes sense, I may try turning it off for louder play and use the regular controls.

    • @svensvensen8406
      @svensvensen8406 4 месяца назад

      @@allwheelsdown5646Exactly! I agree. That's my experience as well, unless volume levels are really loud. The Loudness Compensation will boost bass and treble to compensate for the human brain's inability to hear bass and treble at lower volume settings. That's why it sounds better.It's called the Fletcher Munson Effect. Our eyes have a similar deficiency in very low light conditions. Colors are harder to see - often looking pale - everything kinda moves toward monochrome under low light conditions. :-)
