At my new job. Hired in March. I walked into an office where these young people took hours for lunch, walked in late and were literally undocumented for infractions. Obviously, I came in with structure and they hated me at first but now they use me for everything including bouncing their opinions off of me lol and seeking guidance from me. Now, I have very little lateness, I am told in advance of late instances. I am told in advance of when lunch is going to over an hour and why. I have managed a few people out of the business and I really don’t care. I it not fair to rob the company and get paid for time that you didn’t work. I do make exceptions for exceptional staff as a reward and I do offer off the record days off for those types of staff as well. They trust me with everything because I do not carry their secrets back to other supervisors or managers.

No. Some jobs abuse you beyond measure. They will have you do your regular job and in addition want to use you for extra shit, that they usually hire outside contractors to do, but once they learn a worker has that skill, they want to use you but not pay extra for it. Disgusting.

Oh honey, don’t get me started. I teach high school and all I can say is I’m afraid, very afraid.

My little 22-year-old nephew was mad that they don't pay him every week. He is upset that he has to wait for a week to get his paycheck. And I was trying to explain to him that corporations have to do things like calculate your taxes, pay any benefits and so on. He's like no they shouldn't have the right to mess with my money I don't care about taxes. And he got unreasonably mad about it. I don't know what to do.

What they mean is older employees use the skills and abilities from younger employees and then when it comes to give credit they act as if they did it by themselves. For example, having the younger employee assist everyday with downloading your pdf(s) and sending out notes to everyone after a meeting but then taking the credit for it as if you were able to do it yourself.
