1. The snake's sin was hate. 2. The Woman's sin was desire. 3. The Man's sin was disobedience. 4. Because of man's sin of disobedience, the ground is cursed to disobey him until the day he returns to the ground as dust. Man is made to experience what God experienced when man disobeyed Him. See sin punished in (3) 5. The snake is punished because of its hatred of man. It is relegated below livestock and wild animals. It's limbs taken away so that it crawls on the ground where man came from. That it will eat man as dust after man loses his battle with the ground on top of which it crawls. See the battle in (4) See the sin punished in (1) 6. The woman is punished to desire his husband like she desired the forbidden fruit. Because she let desire rule over her in the garden, as Cain let desire rule over him when he killed Abel, this new desire will rule over her. Man will rule over her. Once she eats from her new desire and becomes pregnant, she will suffer from it through painful child birth. Once she overcomes the painful child birth, the offspring will hate the snake because the snake hates man. Never again will woman conspire with the snake because of this hate. Instead, they will be at war, snake ever biting man's heel, and man ever crushing the snake's head. See sin punished in (2) 7. If the snake prevails, and man dies from its bite. The snake will still eat man as dust. 8. If man somehow survives, man will still surely die as God told him when He gave the commandment. The snake will eat dust.

Abel sacrificed to the true sense of the word. Cain just gave without sacrifice. It is the principle of sacrifice that is at test and Abel prevails. Abel would have been the farmer and he still would have prevailed over Cain by sacrificing crops correctly. The highlight of the story, however, is how we should rule over sin and what happens when we let sin rule over us. God is telling us this through the story of the life of Cain. I had some great take aways from this. Couple of things on my mind is the assumption that vegetation was our first source of food and the likeness to create. I may be wrong on this but we were created last so why would vegetation be assumed as our main source of food or that it was created for breathable air? The last thing is how could we create if we didn't get knowledge until the Garden of Eden with the eating of the forbidden fruit? Again this is just me trying to understand, thanks.

Hi, I appreciate your study!!!! PUZZLED Wouldn't a more accurate "cause" of all cultures having a flood "story" be that ALL new people on earth AFTER the flood came from the family that experienced the flood. There were no people other than Noah's family alive to remember the flood.
