Cut Up/Cut Out: Photomontage and Collage | Exhibition Insights
Просмотров 3592 месяца назад
By cutting out, reshuffling, and layering multiple photographs, artists create composite artworks called photomontages and collages. First coined by Berlin Dada artists John Heartfield and Raoul Hausmann at the beginning of the First World War, the photomontage was originally conceived as a form of social and political critique. With further developments from Cubist and Surrealist artists, both...

The Alvarez ❤ Someone needs to buy it for me 😅
Amazing!!👏👏
To Rose and Roxanne and the generations … “HEY” ❤
❤
Arden- thank you for curating this show!
This is a beautiful presentation of creation
When I see Rose B Simpson’s creations I experience something beyond art that is living spirit
One of my favorite artists ✨🤍
Currently preparing for a paper in my art history class, and came across this incredible lecture. I so deeply love that when asked about the future, both Rose and Roxanne went to such a grand scale place of time (which makes so much sense when the clay in our pots spends such a brief moment being a human shaped object compared to the geologic time of the feldspars that eroded into the clay, and yet feel so permanent compared to our short lives), and yet timelessly and deeply personal. Imagining our future pots as shards will sit with me for a long time. Thank you for recording this and making it publicly available!
Absolutely fascinating and inspiring. Thank you for introducing me to this AMAZING artist and her AMAZING mother artist. Thank you to Norton Museum of Art for supporting women artists and acknowledging their genius.
Beautiful work. Stunning colour and space. Well done.
we didn't need the loud music competing with the narration
Over hyped and meaningless.
Such a cool look closer at an incredible work!

What a beautiful work of art.
Beautiful. She explains her work so wonderfully.
It's a miracle somebody outside of Italy is talking about the Genoese Baroque. This school is vastly underrated.
Miss Mac would be so proud.😊
The book looks beautiful. It's so good to be able to see some of the illustrations and learn more about the content. It's an expensive book, although well worth the price I'm sure, but I'm pleased to see some of the content before buying. Amazon have not supplied a peek inside the book which I'm sure would increase it's sales.
VG painting looks good
He was excluded for his race . He was the best

What a good vibe ! Wish i was there !
Thanks for the video ❤❤️😎🗽🇺🇸👍

Hi
Can anyone tell me how to differentiate Ming or Qing Hetian open work jade that depicts a dragon but with no claws at all.
Are claws usually present on the culturally carved Hetian dragon sculptures in a certain time period, but claws are not included in others? Is that the question?
@@slwtgf openwork white jade superbly carved I doubt it was made during Ming as this design was common during Ming dynasty but superbly carved with three dimensional carvings I think it was carved during Qianlong period instead but how come no five claws or any claws
@@florencetan615 very good point, thanks for pointing it out! I’m finding jade (the history, but also lapidary skills, in general) so beautiful and fascinating! I found chrysoprase recently, a stone I haven’t come across yet, and omg the hues of that, from majestic dark shades to the happy apple green + lighter hues has me marveling on that, now, too.
Thank you
