I planted two blackberry roots in pots and they did not wake up at all. Any tips?! What did you do with your soil to get such good results?!

Susie I tryed growing 2 throne less plants in 18 gallon bags. It was going great till the hot summer hit here in eastern Okla. I tryed keeping them watered for some time, but they both Died. I think my problem was still lack of water. This year I have been thinking of a plastic Wicking set up. Been reading so much it turning me cross eye. Here my thought on the Fabric bag with the sides being able to breathe I think in hot weather it is sucking the moister out, during the day. Now i seen a few growing plant in the bags & setting then in A kids plastic swimming pool. One of those very small ones with only about two inches of Water in the bottom letting it wick the water up to keep it from drying out. I also thought about drilling a hole just above the Two inch water level in case of rain, to keep water level From getting to high and drowning the plant. Your s or anyone thoughts on this.? Please also I should have put a thick cover of mulch on top to hold moister in. Jimmy

Thanks Suzie. I have those same trellis here, i didn’t know how i would get support for my couple of blackberries as have main drains under the area the pots will stand, so don’t want to risk banging in a post or two, didn’t think of using the tomato ones like yours. So thank you
