man, you're really fluent to watch - thanks for uploading the vods to youtube, i tend to just watch at timelapse speed. i'm currently doing a bobs inserters run, i like your green circuit design!
probably you only have the inserters from bob's? I'm already thinking about what overhaul mods i would like and which of them are ready for space age.
@@Plyspomitox yes, but i also do like the quickstart mod (which gives you bots). just makes megabasing easier :D. yeah, i wonder myself, i have a pyanadons save that i plan on working on slowly, but apparently, he is updating for space age.
Can you post your blueprints? Very cool base
i thought about making a short video about some specific blueprints and designs, under which i might also link my blueprint book or specific blueprints. Are you interested in any particular ones? Some of what I build is pretty inconsistant and not yet in blueprints (:
@@Plyspomitox Hi! Very interested in the rail blueprints, i'm kinda noob at rails and seeing that setup blows my mind
Your voice reminds me of professor Snape from Harry Potter. You made my day, thanks a lot. I would love to see how a longer strip of this setup would fare against medium worms.
if you just gona finish basicly all planets to kill small worms just finish aqulio aswell and just one shot big worms with rail guns (needs a couple damage upgrades) or just shoot twice....
At least for small ones, lots of gatling turrets with AP ammo alongside gas grenades.
Just use a tank for quick kills. Later on Aquila you'll get an anti-worm gun that one shots even big ones so worms will become irrelevant.
complete waist of time. gun turrets with piercing ammo demolishs them. uranium is even faster
It's called having fun. He didn't claim this was the best way to kill the demolisher, just a way.
I just used Gun Turrets with red ammo.
Too much efforts my friend, 3 shots of uranium shells with a tank and it's dead in 3 secondes... I literally cleaned up around 10 worms in 5 minutes without any preparation other then bringing a 100 stack of shells (which will be enough forever...) Especially the small ones xD
That's a lot of effort. I found it the easiest to kill them with an old fashioned tank with uranium ammunition (not the explosive one!), i.e. pre-space technology. A stack of 100 shells was more than enough to kill all small worms in my immediate surroundings. Fails miserably with medium worms, though.
small worms take like 4 uranium shell for me, on medium only 6-7 shells
Whats the point of the trees?
They suck. pollution.
also, uh, it sounds kinda like a bad idea to make your iron production dependent on a mineral that is only found on another planet… it sounds like it probably would take way more iron to even send up the rocket with the calcite than the iron you would get out of it? maybe it's just an experiment or I'm missing something, in which case sorry for backseat gaming 😅.
i think it gives much more iron stuff from the iron ore than you would usually get, especially because foundries have an inherent 50% productivity and they can cast pipes, steel and other things directly from molten iron / copper. but having a fallback in case of a lack of calcite is certainly a good idea
also damn that mech armor is so cool, it gives you even more mobility than the spidertron. now you just need remote controllable mech armors 😎. i wonder if flying uses energy, because then maybe you could drown 🤔?
It doesn't need energy but i might try taking it off while over water
@@Plyspomitox ah, nice, i wasn't thinking of that! :D
the quality modules made me think again of the possibility of combining different modules in one building. as i understand it the effects of the same module are added on another, however the effects of different modules are practically multiplied (except for energy usage, i think?). for example, say a module has 100% productivity bonus, which means multiplying productivity by 2. if you add another of those modules, the productivity will be multiplied by 3, not 4. however if you combine a 100% productivity module with a 100% speed module. it will be like two factories in one, with double productivity each. so the speed module really doubled the effect of your productivity module. of course speed modules can be "externalized" with beacons, but combining productivity and quality modules might be very worth it, because the quality bonus should equally be applied to the extra produced items though productivity. also the productivity in later steps of production seems to multiply the quality put in in earlier steps, so a quality focussed base may try to increase the quality early and then multiply it though productivity later to get the most bang for the module 🤔… i guess the fact that quality can also be increased by recycling complicates it a little bit, but given that it destroys 75% of "material" (and quality effort put in previously), it probably makes sense to avoid it when possible as, it's like an anti-bonus in productivity. also belts and things that don't really benefit from quality could be a bit of a "sink" for low quality materials. so perhaps they should be fed filtered-out normal quality materials… ah, another complication is that having extra assemblers etc for each quality level will mean that many of them won't be utilized to their full capacity, which kinda wastes the effect of the modules put in as well…
"they are basically a steal right now" impeccable pun game 😁. (trust me, i'm a quite the punnoisseur 😏)
I try my best to release all my puns into freedom.
as for the things evileoud says. to argue for death over life because of pain is to miss the point of pain as a signal. one of the most basic purposes of pain is to avoid death and injury. while pleasure tends to target preserving and promoting life. that's not to say that's that the true purpose of them, we can learn new values and we should try to have the right ones. their claim that evolution naturally leads to more suffering seems pretty dubious and unsubstantiated, especially in the long run if you assume that pain and pleasure are actually the only things worth caring about. it seems like a philosophy that dooms itself to fail and even predicts it's own failure for dubious reasons. nothing against them personally but i'm a bit tired of this existential pessimism stuff…
yeah, it is difficult what some people say in chat, yesterday in stream i had a really pro capitalist neoliberal troll who made it his mission to "educate leftists". ( i guess that will be the day 7 vod)
oh btw, can't the logistic network reach over the gap between the islands on Fulgora, seems like it should be possible for some of them, at least 🤔.
that should surely be possible for some islands, connecting power and logistics can be a challenge sometimes. in those cases i might have to use trains. and or a remote controlled tank, or later spidertrons
also i think you can remove concrete with a deconstruction plan?
yes, that should be possible, also probably immediately update to something else with an upgrade planner
okay, those space platforms are pretty damn cool, basically providing construction and power for free, making the whole thing feel much more immediately controlled. also, how convenient that the first planet you visit is full of alien artefacts that can be disassembled for more advanced materials 😉. actually good game design, i think, to give a player who is still very new to space travel some thing to build upon so they don't have to fly in a whole base or boostrap once again from zero. and it introduces the recycler which is also just a lovely new feature in itself. too bad they can't take productivity modules though (i guess the reason is that productivity modules are meant only for intermediate products, but recyclers can produce "final" ones 🤔).
yeah i love the game so far and am happy about my decision to go to fulgora first. The Recycler is also very good for making higher quality items. i wanna tinker even more with space platforms and some circuit controlled machines.
As someone who has a total of like 6 hours in this game and no idea of what I'm doing, this was a great video and I have learned a lot from it already. Keep doing the great work. Gained a follower from me.
thank you, hope you can enjoy the game :)
Not being able to use underground pipes will be a fun puzzle for this planet
I think underground pipes are fine, just not underground heat pipes. But yeah, quite challenging still.
@Plyspomitox Your right, I see regular underground pipes in the video. I wonder if you can freeze the stuff in pipes if it underground for too many tiles. Or maybe it doesn't matter 🤔
As I understood the biolab, each science pack is worth 2 science packs while in the biolab. Which would be awesome.
What is the purpose of the mixed trains? I really can't think of a single reason you wouldn't just use two separate trains
Nice.
I'm not landing on Gleba until I've unlocked nuclear rockets.
same. I also think that about Vulcanus, at least i wanna try those on the bigger demolishers
Just use nuclear reactors and bait them into them.
Now that we know the danger on Vulcanus, to me, that makes it the top candidate for first planet to settle. Get in, set up the basics, and grab the tech for the logistics, mining and processing related stuff, so they are available for other places. It sounds like it will be a planet that you can't tame fully at first anyway, so just set up something modest and grab the tech, I can come back much later to expand it if needed. I like the idea of having the better miners asap, for the 50% productivity, which also applies to my second planet, Fulgora when mining scrap. Fulgora seems like a place that will benefit very much from having faster belts and stack inserters, to make that whole sorting setup flow properly. I'll probably jump into quality-stuff right away and use modules and beacons on fulgora and moving forward, not before. Will have to figure out a good "baseline" quality for beacons and modules. Maxing them all will inevitably be prohibitive due to cost, but perhaps settling for a standard for "quality 3" for all things going forward makes sense. If I understand recycling correctly, you can increase quality by recycling things with a quality module in the recycler. So odds are starting from the top of the product chain, i.e. blue circuits and such, it will be a lot easier to get high quality components needed for modules and beacons. After that, I might take a breather and set up more production on nauvis if there is a need for it, or more production on vulcanus if there is a need for it, before diving into Gleba. From what I know, there is absolutely no tech from Gleba I deem essential - that said, you get spidertrons here, so after unlocking those via Glaba it will make it a hell of a lot easier to conquer vulcanus (10 spidertrons rapid firing rockets at least sounds like an effective way to beat the worms on vulcanus in my mind). I guess that is the "boring" order, Vulcanus, Fulgora then Gleba. It sounds like the safest order to progress. Now, IF there turns out to be a good reason to go to Gleba first (some yet unveiled tech), I'm not opposed to having a good scrap with the natives at low tech to get it, but just sounds like there is no incentive and also much benefit to going there last, as you benefit from both faster belts and faster machines to reduce spoilage. I'll probably use similar resource settings to you, except I don't go that crazy on the resources. I just do the 17% for frequency to make it a proper railworld (which divides by 6) and then do 300% size and 300% richness (which multiplies by 9), for a net for 50% more resources. If they made it so you need to hit "100%" total resource yield for achievements or something, I'll cut size down to 200%. Everything else I plan to leave untouched, including biters and cliffs. I want to experience the new cliffs and also the pressure of regular biters in the early game, and a good reason to use new toys later in the game. Plus, I typically create one HUGE base, a gigantic wall encompassing everything. For this release, I want to use some proper outposts. I.e. create a moderate sized secure base, and then trains going out of it into biter held land, creating little bastions of mining in hostile territory. I haven't done that since... hell I don't know, belt corners still slowed down items last I played this way. Every build the one-mega-wall since.
Good thoughts. I am not sure whether i would manage to kill the initial worm for at least some tungsten before getting better stuff on fulgora, which would also "kill" more time so that some machines might produce more stuff with quality. It would be great if the map generation actually showed when certain (combinations of) settings break achievenments. So far I also in most cases went for the one-wall-base. I wonder if with train interrupts one might setup a system where defense things just get sent to outposts with a train when they are low enough. Combined with artillery (from Vulcanus?) might make this even more interesting.
@@Plyspomitox I probably should've added that I only plan to go to vulcanus after yellow and purple science as well. I'm a huge fan of nuclear, and I'll be taking a fair bit of uranium ammo with me. While not exactly sure how to kill the worms effectively, I expect that between poison capsules and defender bots to negate much of the regen and a big block of turrets unloading uranium ammo at a concentrated spot, taking down the early worms should be quite doable. I don't image they made it too difficult as people with disabilities or just "bad fighters" need to be able to settle the place, so odds are it's reasonably to expect to be able to take down the small worms close to the "spawn" with uranium tech. Hell I might even grab 200 cluster grenades, haven't used those in years, might be fun. I guess it all comes down to the worms, but I just can't imagine that it will be terribly hard to claim a few sectors, possibly quite easy with uranium-level weaponry if you use all the tools (capsules, grenades, defenders and your weapon). It's probably going to be a whole lot simpler and more predictable than Gleba if I had to guess.
2:11 i'm not sure if the pipes have a throughput limit (i suspect they have the same limit as the launchers) but that single fluid launcher is clearly a bottleneck for your green paint.
yes, i think i fixed that eventually
How to kill that worms
I will try a combination of turrets, Tesla Turret, Poison Capsules and some flying drones
Why 1-1?
I like that flexibility sometimes. But i also like to use longer trains when the rail-system can't handle too many small trains anymore. I will see what happens with the elevated rails soon.
SHOWCASE! I love 1-1 trains, my favorite slug trains.
I think i will go fulgora - unlock quality and then bring 1 or 2 electromagnetic plants and 3 reciclers go directly to vulkanus. With infinite iron/copper making and recicling grenencircuits till rare then use those to make rare red circuits and scale after that till t2 modules of rare quality and with that in hand tackle gleba. Speed/prod modules of higher quality on a direct insert base to skip spoilage may be the faster option. Ship all mats/ sciences to vulkanus and do the labs there. No expansion on the worms may be the key, almost as playing on pasive
cool ideas. lava being infinite makes for interesting strategies
omg .. can not wait
Your knowledge is bad, and you are 100% wrong about many of the stuff you said. You know you will NOT have access to level 5 quality at the start, so if that was the plan that was a very bad start. However, maybe some quality would be cool and it would allow you to have a design for when more quality is desired. I think watching more of your noise seems pointless, we get to be animal food in less than 30 days so enjoy.
I think ultimately it's still a good idea, he can create a new "baseline" quality for all his things moving forward, if he can afford it production wise. I figure that most of the game we'll be having a new standard, say level 2 or 3 quality, for all things modules, beacons and machines, and only the very endgame might allow to get legendary. I totally dig the idea of toying with quality early and making all things a certain quality level early on. Just need to figure out what level is reasonable for mass production, and whether it's more beneficial to create quality electronics on fulgora (by recyling quality increases by starting from high tech materials) or starting from the bottom up with endless materials in vulcanus or just fall back to regular big nauvis production. Perhaps quality can be largely ignored ignored on Nauvis, because it sounds like the only place without space constraint (easy to expand and hold territory), except for productivity related stuff. Vulcanus sounds like it will quality very desirable, as presumably expansion will be very challenging early on, so making the most of limited space sounds like the go-to.
IIRC elevated rails require visiting a different planet.
In FFF 378 it is said: "All of the elevated rails will be only available with the expansion executable. Their technology can be researched using Production science packs without the need to go to space or any planets"
@@Plyspomitox cool, I guess I mixed it up with something else.
That's cliff explosives
@@youtubehandlesux yeah, I guess.
I won't change base settings on the first DLC run. The game is different enough to make any assumptions I had about the previous version useless.
Not even opting for another preset like railworld or such?
My strategy: taking 5 days off and a metric ton of cafein.
yay, for me it is 5 weeks, almost all of this year's vacation :D and maybe i will double my daily cola dosage
love the video :3 I don't have any set plans personally, but weird more or less unhinged goals that might not be that practical. Like building a uranium processing factory in space just because :D and generally I'm curious about the feasibility to mine asteroids on scale. Maybe I'm gonna move my stuff to another planet as well. I loved Gleba from day one so far. Ambience, music, the creepy crawlies and even spoilage sold it for me already. I don't care if this is the exile planet for naughty engineers to others xD On the other hand I did have a plan to build a cozy vulcanus base. The soundtrack and barren-ness of this world were somehow cozy to me and I love me some mass produced liquid metal. But I don't think it is that cozy anymore 🥴
cozy and warm Vulcanus base for the winter :) yeah, building cool stuff in space will be interesting. especially on platforms that don't need to move, you just need enough of the platform tiles I guess
Probably gonna go for some megabease on Vulcan modular base on Fulgora and space platform logistics.
So uh… what do you plan to do with Vulcanus now?
Let's just say... it's good that Quality Module 3 and Tesla Gun might be unlocked on Fulgora. But i will have to see what the demolisher thinks about that. I will definitely invest more time in preparation
Cool video, thank you. I'll be playing in railworld (I like trains) deathworld (too easy otherwise) with expansion disabled (endgame performance). I'll also land on Gleba first because I want to see if they fixed the poor rewards for release and because the spoilage mechanic is the best mechanic they added in the game imo.
i wonder if this will also make Gleba a death world. When I first read "expansion disabled" i thought you meant the DLC haha, but a moment later it clicked spoilage will definitely be interesting to get my head around.
I think deathworld would be fun as well being a more experienced player. Be sure if you haven't already to check the combat re-balance information in FFF 427.
wait they are adding 3 new planets I thought it was 2?
Nope, it's four
yeah three planets to choose from when first going into space and then a final one after those three
4 new planets. 5 if you include the overhaul to Nauvis as a "new planet".
okay, so all of this is complete news to me, but somehow i can't just stop thinking about: elevated rail 👀 also the space platforms remind me so much of StarCraft, and i can't help to think there was some inspiration, but of course it's way cooler if you can actually build them and move them around yourself. :D
yes, it is really difficult for me too, to stop thinking about all those new features. I think some of the devs liked StarCraft. I don't have personal experience with StarCraft though, so i couldn't tell, but it is a really cool idea to build a factory that can fly through space
The games artstyle is definetly Starcraft 1 inspired, it feels like it "always" has been due to the way the graphics we have today are. (Isometric 2.5D with smooth pixelation look.)
I didn't even think of moving main base away from Nauvis to other planets but now I have to consider this possibility...
yeah, I guess we will have to see how feasible it is on each of the new planets.
I think based on what I read. Have already a mega base on Navis and immediately start on Volcanis by rocketing in all you need to kick start a high productivity base there. Unless you want to start over with a blank slate. That Worm on Volcanis is gonna be a pain in your ass.
They’ve just announced a huge counter to moving your main base from Nauvis. New x2 labs exclusive for Nauvis.
@LosashExote Lategame stuff, and nit for everybody. You will have to have a fleet atleast for glena science, not accounting the other planets packs. It will be super expensive i guess to really do it a navius way
Pfft just send the science there and have a bunch of solar and laser turrets around it.
when you want to play so badly, that even the game not actually being out can't stop you. i haven't even beaten space exploration yet...
yeah. can't stop playing the expansion in my head already. i also haven't beaten space exploration yet, but I'm not sure now if i want to finish it in 1.1 with all the cool quality of life stuff i am missing from 2.0
yeah and maybe there will be a space exploration 2.0, might be better to hold off for now.
