I actually downloaded the joystick mod for the game a couple of weeks ago and tested it out briefly. And, oh boy, flying form is so much easier (I have a VKB gunfighter with 300mm custom stick extension) - you can assign joystick buttons to most things but.... as you pointed out it's either banging your hands on the desk if you use the vr switches or you're trying to reach for irl switches on your joystick that you can't see, and bang your hands on the desk. So it doesn't really work. I don't think it's multiplayer compatible either.

yeah you can sink hundreds of hours into just doing some cosmetics in this game, it _eats_ your free time 😟

@ it’s hard for me to resist wrapping a factory in walls too soon. I see the aesthetics as time well spent because it can be an opportunity to learn what makes things pop architecturally. Plus it transforms the whole world from 3D factorio to a unique work of art. Just a part of what makes this game soooo addictive!

I didn't use a separate camera for this one, it's all from 1st person view. I just edited together the run where I was standing still at a distance with the run I did sitting in the jeep 👍

Distance Measuring Equipment. When referencing distance from a navigation aid it's assumed that it's in nautical miles (so saying 'miles' isn't required) and DME is said to distinguish it from a GPS position or a TACAN. So if I was 9 miles from a VOR (with DME installed) you say 9 DME. If it was a GPS position you'd say '9 GPS' or for a TACAN you'd say '9 TAC'. Having said all of this it's not really clear in the game if it's a VOR station or just a GPS waypoint - I just like to think of it as a VOR 🤷‍♂️

Yeah that's one of my favourite clips I ever made in this game, sometimes the placement, timing and strength of the C4 (plus the dust/smoke settings) just worked out perfectly. Most times it doesn't work out that well. 🤷‍♂️

Just with Voicemod, it's not that great tbh. It still needed a bit of editing afterwards because you can't edit the presets on it and it does some annoying things: 5/10

Yeah the standby AI didn't have any angle indications on it, I make do using the angles on the W-bar at the centre as a reference point. And that seems like a good formula to use for lead radials - and 300 knots at 10 DME would be a pretty exciting approach in a pretty exciting aircraft 😉

@@SLGY well, 300GS is from the TAS at 10000’ with 250 Kt IAS.

10,000' at 10 DME, must be a steep ILS! lol, nah I forget that not all airports are near sea level - 10,000 could be pretty close to the ground at some locations and a pretty reasonable 10 DME altitude. 🤔

@@SLGY yeah, you're right, 10000' is usually too high for most airports. It's just a rule of thumb that under the speed limitations of 250kt/10000', the lead angle could never goes more than 10⁰. In my country's state issues charts that's also the weird number used on the chart for the lead angle of DME arch interception. BTW , I currently do most of my flight in Eastern Asian. We got some really high airport in the western part of china.

Yours actually had some detail and mentioned the importance of vertical speed awareness, and how the two CDI needles actually work etc. After seeing yours I realised how much I didn't mention lol. 🤷‍♂️

sounds like your antivirus doesn't like any downloaded .exe files. Check you antivirus protection history and see if it deleted ffmpeg.exe. If it did then you probably have to tell it that it's safe somehow and make an exclusion for it. As long as you're comfy doing that.

When I calculated it, the wingtips actually had an average velocity of 287 metres per second (speed of sound at sea level on earth being about 340 m/s). BUT, that's the average speed and the wing has to slow down, stop and change directions twice every cycle meaning it has to go faster for the rest of up and down stroke. It'd be well into the transonic speeds during the fastest part of the flap, and most likely supersonic! The wings flap at 20.5 cycles per second, each, so 41 sonic booms per second per wing, and there's 8 wings, 328 sonic booms per second. This thing would be LOUD... 😳 I wish I had of realised that beforehand and put it in the video, thanks for raising a very good question 👌
