Never ask for directions from Zatoichi.
Why in this universe Ichi's fighting style always wins? He's technique is unconventional as to compare to fighting/discipline of a samurai or they way Katana is used. Ichi's fighting always relies on close encounter unlike the men using katana who was taught with similar techniques with other dojo's/schools.
In the 2003 movie, one pf the villains adopt the reverse grip hoping to beat him but he uses the conventional holding and kills the villain.
Everybody gangsta until Ichi shows up.
