I came across this over twenty years ago. Little did I know how much this perfume would grab my heart. ♥️ It’s warm spicy seduction …brings to mind the lovely effects of great wine by candlelight, the feeling of warm skin, and soft music in the background. It’s a trance in a bottle.

Can we wear the edp to work, like in the office?

Its quite modern smelling for an okder perfume. Doesnt immediately scream 80s

Was searching on the net where can i order it from. Do you have any suggestions?

I'm currently revisiting my Do Son, EDP sample. I agree with you about the creamy aspect of this fragrance. It's an easier white floral to wear but not forgettable. Definitely has it's charm. Great review! 🙂

I appreciate this comparison so much. I see many people online simply stating they enjoy "Eau Rose" or "Do Son" by Diptyque, but failing to mention whether they mean EDP or EDT. To see your comparison videos and noting the differences is perfect! I haven't tried the EDP version of Eau Rose, but I do own the EDT 😍. I also agree with you about the seasons, wear whatever fragrance you love anytime of the year! There are no rules.

I love Castoreum, I haven't tried this and didn't realize it had it. Moving this one higher up on my "to try" list. The name is beautiful, what a good choice, especially considering his story.

I absolutely love and respect Les Abstraits and Eugen. He is a beautiful soul. The story behind this perfume stuck with me after my live with him. There is one episode of “Douleur exquise” that happened to me in my life, and I never knew how to describe it.. but this name says it all. Do you think L’Initial from the Parisiennes line is the same L’Initial that’s now a part of the Les Legendaries line? I noticed that green notes have been removed for L’Initial compared to SPI. There’s something in SPI that’s irks me. It’s one note that comes across salty to me but I just purchased L’Initial EDP to compare.

I can speak for the vintage extrait Vol De Nuit, only.

Next to the other Guerlain gems (Jicky and Paure) Vol de Nuit is my all time fave. It doesn't shout like some of the other (excellent) Guerlain's but it is, once you get close to it, the most exquisitie amalgam in the world of perfumery. I'm kicking 80 years old and over the decades, I've sampled many, many, This is the pinnacle of fragrance art.

That old bottle from the 80,s..i have one in 50ml..its absolutley devine, way better than the newest one..its so full of animal musk..its incredible

Hi, Sebastian! Lovely seeing your reviews, whatever you talk about ) I own only L'eau version, also in this red bottle which is stuuuuunnniiinnnngggggg!!! And it's my favorite out of all Chanel 5's! I love wearing it in May - once weather become warmer but not too hot, so around +18+20 it opens magical on my hair! I also own 7,5ml of Parfum but wear it maybe once per year - just to refresh scent memory as I don't feel it matches my personality as much as L'eau.

Interesting about the aldehyde associations. For me, it's light-coloured fabrics, often formal wear for some reason. 😄 Appreciate your impressions!

That red edition was so stunning. Love a red bottle. I too find many of Chanel's aldehydic perfumes to be quite aloof, very hauteur, a little standoffish, regal, ice princess like. I think if you do have to create a flanker to such a legendary perfume, Eau Premiere is a very well done one for the modern times. It still retains the chic aura of the original and smells leagues more sophisticated than most of what you'd find at the department store.

Thanks for sharing your love for this masterpiece of a perfume, I always loved no 5 no matter what others said about it being old school, it really feels like home for me and I am more of a Guerlain girl so that says a lot ! Will try l’eau now since I never really bothered with that version, but you make me curious ❤

Fragrantica lists the original version of Chanel No. 5 Eau Premiere as 2008. I was gifted a bottle of it from a friend. Honestly, when I received it I was sad, because I thought I'd have to pass it along, but I found the only version of Chanel No. 5 that suits me at all. I don't it find it cold, but more like a sparkling amber sunshine on a wide prairie. It's all the aldehydes I can take in this style, and I find they don't overwhelm or stick around too long. What I mostly get is the beautiful sandalwood drydown, which feels like it might be Mysore. That seems like a very late date for authentic Mysore, but who knows. Maybe it's just a synthetic that my brain associates with it. In any case, it is perfect on hot, sunny days and I don't think of it as "upper class". That's not really what I'm looking for. In fact, I'm usually wearing it with shorts, a tank, and a linen shirt. :) Happy Sniffing as always, Sebastian! I always enjoy your content and views on perfumery and life. May you be well!

Sebastian, what an beautiful sounding scent!! I was watching the review from Pur Muguet and this one appeared!! Some people said that Lilac it's the note of the year and we'll see a lot of it coming up! But as a fellow brazilian (From Salvador), i have to say, the prices in R$ are......intriguing. Not gonna lie i was indeed scandalized by those prices. The amount of product that you get vs what you pay, it makes more sense to buy a 200ML from the Les exclusif line from Chanel, that have masterpiece like Le Lion on it. Do you think that the Les Épures line REALLY worth the splurge? PS: I find you and your content so elegant,eloquent, calming, soothing and the list goes!! Keep on with this lovely work you do here!!
